  • zakalwe Looks like it having pleaded to return like an absolute sap.
    August 20 08:55 AM
  • ArsMoriendi Do you know how to highlight the entire area?
    August 18 09:33 AM
  • ArsMoriendi A regular copy paste doesn?t preserve box size, but I usually do that anyone and hope someone else fixes it haha.
    August 17 05:56 PM
  • zakalwe Ha. Exciting!! No rush on any responses diva it?s all just satisfying my own curiosities on years past. I told my wife I was emailing you and she though I?d completely lost my mind.
    August 6 06:27 PM
  • TVC15 Here's that YouTube synthwave playlist, unfortunately a couple songs are not on there tho https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZRHc733aTIm_2UmX37GEDomZrEm3S-JA

    August 6 03:10 PM
  • zakalwe What a gent. Cheers diva, I?ll cobble together something.
    August 3 08:30 PM
  • Papa Universe a bit too late for that, but I'll be fine
    July 29 04:18 PM
  • Papa Universe You've been quite attentive to my lack of attendance, I see. Well, I'm more-or-less back, but I might jump off again. Health issues have been keeping me somewhat preoccupied lately.
    July 29 03:34 PM
  • Jethro42 Yes, but these pretty girls are getting old now...but you are right...There are still pretty women all around! Not only in Montreal, but in the entire Quebec. Like a sputniker once said, ''Les Quebecoises sound like something that taste good.''
    July 25 03:03 PM
  • Jethro42 I'm very close to Montreal. I'm two miles away from there, in Laval.
    July 22 06:27 PM
  • Jethro42 It's good to live in Quebec. There is a lot of resources. After working for UPS Canada for 15 years, my health started to drop. Since then (2008), i'm limited physically (muscular dystrophia and arthrisis), I developed anxiety and I'm not working anymore, so I do activities that i can, such as poems, drawings, drum machine and music center software to try to compose music. I also take an English course, among others. I'm considering volunteering, but I get exhausted pretty fast.
    July 22 01:59 PM
  • Papa Universe You can put any name there. I've been ?Banned" for about a year now.
    July 20 07:59 AM
  • Papa Universe I'm here.
    July 20 02:26 AM
  • Papa Universe that Memories of Love album is really lovely. it's always pleasant to discover a new Magnetic Fields side-project
    July 13 05:42 PM
  • neekafat Got it, I appreciate that dude!!
    July 3 01:47 PM
  • neekafat Oh gotcha! I'm not super into prog and I have a lot on my olate thanks to the cram list but maybe I'll try next year!
    July 3 10:56 AM
  • zakalwe Hello mate. Given that it will probably be the last time Pete and Roger are on stage and it?s at Wembley Stadium yep I am sorely tempted. Last saw them just over 10yrs ago and they were unbelievably good. They still had the magic.
    June 20 06:29 PM
  • Jethro42 Glad to hear that! Yeah enjoy yourself by doing reviews you want to do, although you obviously are of caliber to be staff. I'm looking forward to reading you!
    May 31 11:58 AM
  • Jethro42 Hey my man! It's about time to make a change! I hope all these metalheads are influencing you to come back reviewing. Would be good if you tried to forget the bad things from the past and go forward instead. I'd be reading your stuff. Btw, I think the two more popular styles on sput are metal and indie. You already did some indie. Let's do it and 80's stuff and prog once in a while. Go ahead, I tell you;You have nothing to lose.
    May 30 04:12 PM
  • Dewinged Yep! My criteria for my picks is the same :)
    May 27 11:04 PM
  • Dewinged Checking that Sting new album/comp and I'm not really sure some of The Police songs needed re-recording, it feels like all the magic is gone in these.
    May 27 01:18 AM
  • Jethro42 It seems we've spent all our resources. i've checked all my lists for searching for some potential members...What is left to do now...? Doing another list??
    May 13 01:03 PM
  • zakalwe Hello diva man. Thanks for letting us know, I?ve been away on a stag do for the last three days so assume I?ve missed it but I will be following events.
    May 13 07:29 AM
  • Dewinged Diva! Thanks for the invite man but you guys are way ahead my shallow knowledge on the genre and I honestly don't have time to commit to any comp right now. I will follow for some recs though!
    May 12 08:55 PM
  • TheSpaceMan Hey man, gonna pass, dont frequent the site enough these days. Hope its a good one and thx for the invite
    May 12 02:32 PM
  • manosg Hey Diva, it would be awesome to participate but I don't think I'll be able to follow through. Sorry buddy.
    May 11 02:44 PM
  • Jethro42 It's all fine, my friend. With all their keyboard's and synths sets, it's hard for them to not progging at least a bit, and their electronic symphonies and complex rhythm patterns suggest prog elements, especially in the early to mid 70s I can't wait to hear your nominee...
    May 9 04:48 PM
  • Frippertronics Good to hear, but I suppose it wasn't worth the headache. At the end of the day, the genre as it is just isn't for me anymore. The idea of being progressive is more appealing, but you can't please everyone.
    May 9 02:09 AM
  • Jethro42 Audacious choice, my man. I never considered TD as a prog act myself, even if they approach it at some point, and on Progarchives, the average rating of your album is 3/5, which is not that high for the site's standards.
    May 8 03:03 PM
  • e210013 Thanks, Diva. These are great news.
    May 6 06:10 AM
  • DoofDoof And assault is illegal
    May 3 03:53 AM
  • Jethro42 Steve Howe and Carl Palmer were absent for a long time too, I see. The classic lineup finally returned together for Phoenix. Asia feat. John Payne is under the usual Asia in Progarchives...for The tribute to British prog in any case.
    April 16 07:37 PM
  • Jethro42 No, I didn't know. Good that you added it to the data base. What happened to John Wetton for he was replaced by Payne for more than a decade...?
    April 16 05:05 PM
  • Jethro42 Oh! i first thought you were talking about Claypool/ Lennon material, cos you said ''heroic guitar'' that we can apply to them too. Yeah Mostly Autumn don't seem to tour except in UK and stuff, sadly. Again, you're right to call it heroic guitar. Guitarist Josh is obv influenced by Pink Floyd and Marillion. He also sings pretty much like David Gilmour. MA are from the folk side though, especially for the Findlay's era. Her vocals are more emotional and diversified than Sparnenn's
    April 16 04:43 PM
  • Jethro42 The Claypool, Lennon Delirium are actually touring in the USA, if we're talking of the same band. As you can see, they only have another LP, plus an EP that I have yet to listen to. You can also get some shows on Youtube. As for Mostly Autumn, I gave you more rather than not enough ;)
    April 16 02:09 PM
  • Jethro42 Try some of the Heather Findlay's era in this order; 1- The Last Bright Light, 2- Storms Over Still Water, 3- The Spirit Of Autumn Past, 4- Passengers, 5- Heart Full Of Sky, 6- For All We Shared. The latter and The Spirit Of Autumn past are folk albums yes, with kinda Celtic and Medieval leanings with Floydian vibes. Have fun my man!
    April 14 08:57 PM
  • Jethro42 Ahah yes, well said. Could you be victim of discrimination? Sure, your musical palette tends to be from the old school, oldie stuff. Imo, Your age couldn't play against you, at the contrary, it would bring maturity, wisdom and assurance. imo, they found you've written too much old stuff and they focused on it. We'll never know and it's a pity. What I suggest you is keep on writing for you, for fun and see where do you go from there. There's still longislandmusicguy though :)
    April 5 07:32 PM
  • Jethro42 I see. I think they select the candidates when they remark reviews are well written (it's obv your case), when it's indie music, americana or such (preferably, and you did some) or a style of your own, and when it's fresh new music (such as your last 2 years). If you derogate from this, chances are slim to make yourself a place. However, you fit very well into all these conditions. It's mysterious for me they haven't selected you. About your age, how could they know if you haven't reveal it?
    April 5 04:45 PM
  • Jethro42 Do you think there is favoritism? If it's the case, the balance doesn't necessarily lean towards you, in effect. There must be politics and ethics around the promotions, though. Personally, I've encouraged you in the past, and I thought you were not willing to become contributor on your own decision. But now that you made an important decision, I hope you can still enjoy Sputnik. Take things for today. and I feel you're alive and kicking, 62 is only a number Lol.
    April 4 10:23 PM
  • Jethro42 Hi sir, ask all your questions about the promoting to SowingSeason, he's a cool guy. Go ahead, especially if you consider writing as an outlet and a passion, and you know you write very well, and with a passion. You can find Sowing in my shoutbox.
    April 4 03:56 PM
  • Jethro42 One thing is sure, Friday is really friendly and mature, it's detectable at first place. Like we say in French, it's a man of a certain age :)
    April 3 10:58 AM
  • Jethro42 I have no clue about Friday, but if you ask me, he must be around 30yo, not much more according to couple of discussions I had with him. He never revealed his age, and he might be older than that according to all that vintage music of the 70s he's listening to. there were a time i thought he was younger cos of the way and the times he talked about his dad. So i'm confused in his case.
    April 3 10:51 AM
  • DoofDoof Cheers for the rec, the Patty Griffin is real nice, bit of grit to her voice
    April 2 05:04 AM
  • e210013 Yeah, it's true. Music keeps a person young-minded, really.
    April 2 04:37 AM
  • e210013 Jethro is right, I'm very open about my age and to talk about it isn't awkward for me. Still, I'm a bit surprised. I always thought that I was the oldest member here, but I was wrong. You are older than I am, because I'm 60 in this moment and I hope to have 61 in this year. But I was a bit surprised because I thougt you was younger, something between 40 and 50. So, it seams that you're probably the most senior of the site. Congratulations. Lol.
    April 1 07:21 PM
  • Jethro42 Welcome to the old men's bandwagon, mate! I feel less alone :) And don't forget to ask e21 about his age, to determine the actual known and ''official'' older sputniker.
    April 1 05:37 PM
  • Jethro42 I thought e21 were easily the elder. By the way, I did read your conversation with Papa before posting. Congratulation on probably beeing the elder of the site. it's debatable with e21 out of those i know, and those that are still active...
    March 31 08:36 PM
  • Jethro42 For some reason, I thought I was older than you, essentially because you're always outside to assist to a show or another, so I said to myself, this guy is doing the same i did when I was 20 and 30 yo...But i knew by a way or another, that you were older than that...but 62...? Mmh, I couldn't guess. i've never seen a sign of it, neither in your reviews or blogs or comments. e21 is 5 or 6 years older than me, and i turn 56 in two weeks. So you guys both have 62, I'm pretty sure.
    March 31 08:32 PM
  • Papa Universe well, we did have that adoption discussion a while back and I remember you saying that you adopted whilst being older than me at the time, but I always assumed you'd be maye in your late 40s at best.
    March 31 05:19 PM
  • Papa Universe is this how Drifter felt when he found out about my age?
    March 31 05:08 PM
  • Papa Universe are you really 62?
    March 31 05:08 PM
  • Papa Universe anyone can have comprehensive knowledge of the 70s nowadays. they're called hipsters and fags.
    March 31 04:59 PM
  • Papa Universe no you haven't
    March 31 04:49 PM
  • Papa Universe I'll be 44 in a month.
    March 31 12:30 PM
  • Dewinged Agree Diva, she has the voice already but her songs are pretty... light?
    March 31 03:39 AM
  • TwigTW Will do, thanks!
    March 30 02:14 PM
  • Jethro42 Hey Diva, there's already another Mostly Autumn LP out there.Progarchives gives it a very good score. I've added it to the database. It's available on Spotify, or on Youtube; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qZNvJ2hCnA
    March 22 07:16 PM
  • DoofDoof The gypsy punk fellas? Have heard a few songs and maybe thought they were a bit too novelty? On the other side they could be another Tiger Lillies for me. Any recommendations?
    March 22 01:26 PM
  • neekafat I definitely understand that man, this site can be really frustrating at times. This was my third time applying too, I can imagine I'd be in a very similar place if I was passed up again too
    March 4 12:38 AM
  • neekafat That's fair man! Just don't forget that you're rocking a 97%, which is like way higher than my approval rating ever was. I had a hard time getting mine just over 80% for a while
    March 3 03:29 PM
  • neekafat That's fair, I guess a lot of it has to come from the love of writing itself yknow?
    March 3 02:39 PM
  • neekafat Oof I'm sorry to hear that man! I'll admit it is really hard to find time to write these days
    March 3 01:59 PM
  • neekafat That's fair man, I'd agree with you there. That being said, your style of writing is a bit at odds with a lot of what is on sput (not to say mine isn't, because it is too!) But I feel like you've got a bit of a too journalistic/objective voice, and I would love to see your own voice as a person/critic come out more in your reviews, and I bet that your writing would turn a lot more heads around here if it did (:
    March 3 03:34 AM
  • neekafat Thanks bb (: Was sad to see you not get the promotion ):
    March 3 12:18 AM
  • justmiriam Hi, my name's Maria. I'm an editor of Louder.me blog.I've read some of your reviews and found them nice and thought-provoking.You have good music taste, and I like the way you express your opinion! Are you interested in leading own author column in our blog?
    February 19 12:07 PM
  • neekafat Reed and Caroline write up is done!
    February 11 12:56 AM
  • neekafat MGMT write-up is done!
    January 13 08:33 PM
  • DoofDoof I keep finding 4.5 and 5 ratings so it is worth the effort
    January 5 06:11 AM
  • DoofDoof In fact I started 1989 this morning, pretty sure the 80s will be slower going than the 90s
    January 2 03:04 AM
  • DoofDoof I listened to even more albums! Not even pretending this year - keeping up this rate of exploration for 2019. I will slow down once i have worked my way through each year since the mid 60s in my deep dive series. So far the 90s and 2016-2018 are effectively completed. So a long way to go!
    January 2 03:02 AM
  • DoofDoof They're not entirely my sort of thing...but I prefer them to the Wombats. So that is a good start. I did listen to the debut and the new one...and I slightly preferred the debut.
    January 1 02:39 PM
  • butcherboy i remember their debut, nice spiky minimalist punk.. how's the new one?
    December 26 04:15 PM
  • DoofDoof Happy hols to you too - man, I haven?t heard the name Art Brut in years, I did listen to them a bit way before I signed up here. Any recs with them?
    December 24 05:40 PM
  • tyman128 thanks Diva, appreciate it!
    December 9 10:07 PM
  • deadcrown I really appreciate it. Thanks!
    December 4 11:37 AM
  • butcherboy hey.. how's stuff?
    November 4 04:59 PM
  • Dewinged For real man, I was trying to review it yesterday but just decided to give up and sound off it instead. The album is a torture, she is 85 and undoubtedly senile at this point. She deserves to rest her flailed mind already.
    November 1 09:13 PM
  • TwigTW I like that one, but it surprised me. It's nothing like their album that Jethro entered in the last prog contest. They've really changed their sound.
    October 20 01:40 PM
  • DoofDoof I'm still lurking around here but I'm not ready for the full comeback quite yet ;D
    October 13 03:52 PM
  • TwigTW "Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young to Die!" hit close to home for me that night, Lol.
    September 25 03:33 PM
  • TwigTW Yeah Diva, I haven't seen Tull since the 70s. So Ian is a little less energetic than he used to be, but it was still a great show. It's the bands 50th anniversary!
    September 25 08:58 AM
  • coldheaven They usually do, but the booking company wanted to save money. They were also missing 200 names from will call, it was a whole fiasco. The same booking company used to book shows for my bands, and we would have similar problems with them.
    September 19 02:08 AM
  • coldheaven Actually yeah, the band itself were great. The crowd, however, was not. The little club I went to is smack dab next to a big art school, so lots of entitled freshmen thinking they know more about my city than I do. You could barely see the entrance due to all the vape clouds.
    September 18 11:46 PM
  • SowingSeason it's subjective but usually 2 weeks, 3 weeks tops
    September 15 05:15 PM
  • TwigTW The Tom Bailey is great. It doesn't sound exactly like the Thompson Twins, but it's not that different either. It's much better than I expected. Thanks for that.
    September 12 08:16 PM
  • TwigTW I do like the Thompson Twins. I'll give the Tom Bailey a go.
    September 11 12:47 PM
  • TwigTW Listened to that new live 'Yes' album and thought it sounded great.
    September 8 09:29 AM
  • TwigTW Yeah, they did a good job on that one. I like it a little more every time I listen.
    September 5 06:40 AM
  • SitarHero Just messing around dude. You called us Philistines (jokingly, I assume) so I called you David (of David and Goliath) because he fought the Philistines. Nothing serious was meant...except the disdain for The Mowgli's' heinous apostrophe usage.
    September 3 01:02 PM
  • Papa Universe I mean, I'm a big man-child, I don't need a third individual more mature than me in the house.
    August 8 10:30 AM
  • Papa Universe I'm happy with my cat.
    August 8 06:14 AM
  • Papa Universe well, thanks for the encouragement, but my wife and I thought about it and since nothing came along so far, we just figured that that's how it must be.
    August 8 06:13 AM
  • aaronrkc Alliance (the artist I added) is a Kansas City-based electronic producer.
    August 2 08:05 PM
  • butcherboy oh is it out? will check, his last one was decent..
    August 2 06:00 PM
  • DoofDoof I have, it were alright, three or so great tunes - rated it a 3 or 3.5 on the old account, I'll return to it before the year is out
    August 2 01:07 PM
  • Jethro42 His name is Luc DeLarochelliere. I used to see him every week ends. He did animate Catholic practitioner evenings with music, sketches. improvisation shows and different activities. I was playing bongos for him, and we were always went out to take a coffee after. Now this guy is well known here in Quebec. He released several albums and started an international career.
    July 23 09:22 PM
  • Jethro42 It's always pleasant to meet/frequent a well known artist. A brother of mine called me to let me know that Michel Vallee, bassman for the symphonic prog band Morse Code, was home to audition for my brother's band. He invited me and asked me to bring all my Morse Code cd's copies. I was amazed to see him beside me listening to his music, drinking a beer, talking about music and seeing his audition... Finally he left without a trace. I used to frequent a local singer songwriter in the late 80s.
    July 23 09:13 PM
  • Jethro42 What an experience for you! It's a cool way to promote your compo. John Ford seems to be close to his public. Do you have his phone number ? :)
    July 23 01:43 PM
  • DoofDoof Does your wife still sing? What style of bands?
    July 18 05:38 PM
  • DoofDoof She's got much more into music now to the point that she is a big music lover yeah - I just listen to it so much that it has become a huge part of her life too. We've been to about forty gigs together and I make mixes of the songs she most likes for her to play in her car. She doesn't like everything I listen to though obviously!
    July 18 02:51 AM
  • TwigTW I see what you're saying. Listening to the orchestral Erasure now, and I like it better than the original. I think this might be a good trend.
    July 12 01:03 PM
  • TwigTW Yeah, those '80s group-shows can be really good. Enjoyed a couple myself--have fun!
    July 6 12:22 PM
  • TwigTW Just found out the Flock Of Seagulls LP is orchestral versions of old songs, so maybe not such exciting news after all.
    July 5 06:38 PM
  • TwigTW Hey Diva, looks like A Flock Of Seagulls and Culture club have new albums coming out tomorrow (7/6). I'll be curious to hear what they sound like now. A Flock Of Seagulls' old albums have aged fairly well imo, but not so much the Culture Club . . . Anyway, I thought that's interesting news (if you didn't already know).
    July 5 06:14 PM
  • Jethro42 Ah, ''Heart Life'' is a song I really love, and I picked it randomly to give you an idea of the good old Mostly Autumn, with Heather Findlay on vocals. Since ever, they really have the knack to compose great melodies. I invite you to take a look to their early works. Start with The Last Bright Light and then chronologically.
    July 1 11:55 AM
  • Doctuses Cool!
    June 18 01:08 PM
  • Doctuses damn that's alot of albums youve added lol
    June 18 11:15 AM
  • Conmaniac oh i thought that was our lil deal ??
    June 17 11:47 PM
  • Doctuses Yoo how the heck you get so many album edits??
    June 15 11:35 PM
  • Jethro42 Hello Diva. Here I let to you another ''old'' Mostly Autumn song to give you a better idea. I think Heather does her own backing vocals in it. I prefer her voice over Olivia's, but I feel the latter still can develope. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0w0SJd-Wu2M
    June 14 05:40 PM
  • DoofusWainwright if we're still here in 2026...USA will definitely be at that tournament ;D
    June 14 04:51 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Not sure I?ll ever believe in them if we fail to win a single knockout game again. It?s a young team, some interesting attacking options...I just hope we don?t freeze. Shame the Liverpool lad Lallana isn?t fit because he?s a different sort of player and the one ?lock picker? England have, I would have been twice as confident if he was playing and in form. Still, COME ON ENGLAND!
    June 14 01:46 AM
  • zakalwe I wouldn?t say hope more complete utter and total despondency but deep deep deep down in the core of my being. COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!!!!
    June 13 11:41 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Haha, thanks. I've decided to retire the entire account at 20,000 comments, 5000 ratings, 100 reviews, 150 soundoffs. And 100% objectivity (naturally). My new account will have a big Doofus flavour to it though, let's not mess about, I can't leave behind the Doof name. The new account will be interesting, only new ratings, probably will end up with a very different pie chart.
    June 8 02:30 AM
  • Darius the Great lol nvm
    June 7 11:56 AM
  • Darius the Great bb, pls decade list
    June 6 11:58 AM
  • rabidfish Sorry i meant the entries on the list, not the list itself lol it's cool man.
    June 3 11:46 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Well you overtook me a while ago, 114 reviews in two years is very impressive
    June 3 02:40 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I will use an alias but obviously there will be no pressure to keep churning out reviews so no idea how much I will write. Who knows, I might end up actually writing more when I get pos/neg reactions back. Will try and post using the DoofBrother account, it?s banned but it does have one existing review up already, not sure if that means I can?t use it for posting new reviews. If not...a new alt it is!
    June 3 04:33 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Three more reviews and I'm retiring the account for reviews - so impossible for me to award 0.5 ratings ;D
    June 1 03:39 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Yes, the first eight songs are taken from one of his early albums - the rest are outtakes. Tbh I wish it was just that original album remastered in full because the first 8 tracks are the best.
    May 30 02:42 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Yes, and surprisingly different! More varied, light and jazzy instrumentation in places. It?s real good - at this point I?m thinking I?ll work through his discog one album per month
    May 29 05:20 PM
  • Friday13th yup, same rules
    May 26 10:04 PM
  • Friday13th Prog tourney this Monday, Memorial day!
    May 26 11:21 AM
  • Atari love that new Rachael Sage album. wouldn't have known about her without your review, so cheers!
    May 17 11:39 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Blimey, great rec, some Tom Waits and Mark Lanegan in there - you've uncovered a gem here!

  • DoofusWainwright Like the sound of your description, I'm on it, thanks
    May 14 03:39 PM
  • Sharkattack I did read that review and I really liked it. Made me want to check them out. I don?t know you just do a lot of albums between 2.5 and 4 I just wanna see a real strong stance from you haha
    May 12 06:10 PM
  • Sharkattack Do a review for a 5 or a 1. Your reviews are great but I wanna see you go extreme
    May 12 04:19 AM
  • TwigTW I mostly checked it out for nostalgia, Diva. Belly was a local band, so we used to go see them in the clubs. I was never their biggest fan, even back then... I'm listening again now and it's pleasant--a little too pleasant--almost generic to my ears. But, like I said, they never really clicked for me. I'm guessing you're a fan?
    May 9 02:44 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I?ll give it another go soon, think I?ll like it more when I get to know the lyrics
    May 2 01:45 PM
  • DoofusWainwright They?re a totally new one to me :D
    April 30 02:47 AM
  • Papa Universe I'm up, appreciate it as is.
    April 25 04:16 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Just the A.A.L / Nicolas Jaar album - that's the only one! As good as it is I'd hope it doesn't end up my AOTY
    April 19 02:01 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Hey diva, well I was on my hols, which is my excuse...but really so far the Sput experience of 2018 has been a bit lacking I think. Not a lot seems to be going on and no really big music releases either. I won?t quit the place, just hoping something sparks it back to life. How?s your year been so far? Any early AOTY contenders?
    April 18 01:03 PM
  • Snake. are you friends with anybody in smol data? a few of my friends are gonna play with them later this summer
    April 3 05:07 PM
  • Dewinged Nice! I can't wait to hear your thoughts. It's an album that I used to love many years ago when me and my friends were absorbed by Tool, so it's interesting to see the perspective of someone jamming it now for the first time!
    March 16 03:19 AM
  • Dewinged You mean the birthday data? Don't worry man, I think a couple of other users' years were my guess too.
    March 16 02:19 AM
  • Dewinged Yeah it's not really metal. Some people said it's post grunge or smth like that. I would say their first album was really some kind of soft metal thing and Dolving sounded like James Hetfield at times, but for Locust they kind of went crazy with Tool.
    February 8 12:52 AM
  • Dewinged Saw it! I am happy you got it but I don't know if you are gonna like it Diva ;) Some quick info about the album. Mary Beats Jane is the project in which Peter Dolving (now singer of swedish metal band The Haunted) used to be. It is a pretty obscure album and it was always difficult for me to pin down what kind of alternative rock/metal they do. I think Dolving does an amazing vocal work there and their music is certainly amazing so I hope you like it!
    February 7 09:30 PM
  • Frippertronics Much thanks, friend
    February 4 04:22 PM
  • verdant thank you diva!! you're great
    February 4 08:20 AM
  • TwigTW good--I like to think there will be more B-52's albums.
    January 29 09:02 AM
  • TwigTW I didn't--but I see it's on Spotify, so I'll be checking that out later today, thanks! I wonder why all the solo albums, hope the B-52's didn't break up.
    January 28 09:32 AM
  • TwigTW Did you notice Cindy Wilson released a solo album last year? I completely missed it till now. She doesn't sound anything like the B-52's, but I'm liking it.
    January 27 10:31 AM
  • McTime50 You can review Waterparks no worries. I see where you're coming from with the duplicate effort and I'd rather see your thoughts on it!
    January 25 06:42 AM
  • Iamthe Nightstars Dumb and Dumber quote during Mmmm
    January 20 01:25 AM
  • Papa Universe so no love at first listen that continued unchanged?
    January 4 07:09 PM
  • neekafat I always like things usually haha, and no need to thank me!
    December 23 06:14 PM
  • neekafat Lol did I just pull a Sput-noob move
    December 23 04:52 PM

  • neekafat Yo my Neil Cavanagh write up is up!
    December 21 01:08 PM
  • Atari You've prolly already heard it but can't go wrong with Bing Crosby - Merry Christmas :]
    December 19 02:46 PM
  • DoofusWainwright It wasn?t horrible, and her haircut was really something then, but that?s just not a genre I really gravitate to.
    December 16 03:56 AM
  • zakalwe Cool! Thanks for bringing it to my attention dude, I?ll check it. Rubbish band name.
    December 15 10:14 AM
  • DoofusWainwright I?ll give that one a go today as this is the cut off for trying new stuff for a couple of months for me. Was going to pop in and say the Cavanagh album is still great, comfortable 4/5 for me, he sings a bit like Josh Rouse, don?t know if you?ve tried his album ?1972?? He?s close to a guilty pleasure for me I guess, quite easy listening.
    December 15 08:52 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Cavanagh album is top stuff, as easy breezy as Josh Rouse with a faintly psychedelic edge. Damn you, you've already found an album that should've crashed my top 60 albums of the year...!
    December 10 06:51 AM
  • SowingSeason yes we will be doing the list for users too. not sure when it will be posted, but soon.
    December 9 11:11 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Will give it a go ;D
    December 8 05:34 PM
  • Dewinged Oh nice, had no idea. I gotta tell my dad, he's the big fan ;)
    December 6 09:16 PM
  • e210013 Thanks Diva. I don't knew that. Of course I'm interested. I'm a great fan of the band even of that music phase. As you know I love both albums. I'm going to check it, surely.
    December 6 06:43 PM
  • Jethro42 I saw that album in my FB the other day, thanks to remind me. Listening to it atm, I'm pleasantly surprised about the Drama songs. It's better than the original at some points. Vocals are better than the ones of Trever Hornes. Starship Trooper is pretty well done too. The singer sings pretty much like Anderson, except he barely reaches high pitches. Songs from Topographic lacks of substance a bit. I miss Wakeman, Squire and Anderson there. Squire is inimitable. Overall, great show.
    December 6 04:48 PM
  • zakalwe :D
    December 6 03:00 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I'm surprised things got so heated this week, but it goes to show that if you're staff then people will pick you up on the smallest thing and then hound you. Terrifying. Half of everything I post is intended as tongue in cheek so I guess I have to be careful.
    November 14 04:10 AM
  • verdant you're great, diva. thanks.
    November 13 09:43 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Ooh, I know most of those...and they're all varying shades of bad. Excellent work!
    October 22 01:40 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Yes, I had to open the window and I?ll shampoo the carpet tomorrow. Apologies, any old riff raff visit these days
    October 3 01:13 PM
  • Frippertronics the edit was just an alternative rather than a change, although i know you're just playing around. if it ain't your thing, no big deal. getting the guy more exposure on here is my MO with the tourney
    September 29 12:10 AM
  • Frippertronics They've just really never sat well with me. As for 66 minutes being a bit overlong (I got over that hurdle this past summer, since Todd used to be a light 3.5 for me), I'll post a suggested 1LP edit for anyone who didn't like it due to the length and/or some of the more theatrical/obnoxious bits on the Prog tourney list
    September 28 10:29 PM
  • Frippertronics because I may have to question why you think the post-Moon Who albums are any higher than a 2 lol
    September 28 09:22 PM
  • Frippertronics idk jam the last two songs again for the ultimate apocalypse/aftermath experience
    September 28 09:22 PM
  • Frippertronics I am to please. You'll see the light soon enough.
    September 28 12:43 PM
  • DoofusWainwright New list up, rec me something classic, I know you will
    September 20 03:56 PM
  • ONEPUNCHMAN It is done, and it is bad lol
    September 18 04:15 PM
  • TwigTW Not sure why, but he's skipping Boston . . . You'll have to let me know how the show goes.
    September 16 02:51 PM
  • TwigTW You're in for a great King Crimson show! . . . I didn't know Martin Barre was touring. I'm guessing the set will be Tull heavy, sounds interesting.
    September 16 08:21 AM
  • Friday13th I just added the Who. I wanted you to question your sanity! ;)
    September 15 02:35 PM
  • Friday13th Love the Who, I have Quadrophenia at 4.5. Not enough room last I tried adding artists but yeah, they'd be up there.
    September 15 09:01 AM
  • Jethro42 lol the preliminaries I sent to you belong to the brand new tournament. It's already on the new lists. They're running fast! Cheers!
    September 11 06:54 PM
  • Jethro42 Yeah dude, that's it. And there is only one winner, one second place, two semi-finalists and four second tier. And if ever you need the global informations, consult the preliminaries right here (read the first comment); http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=732569
    September 11 06:42 PM
  • Jethro42 ...And if ever you're eliminated in the first round (let say)...well everything continue to work in the sense that you continue to vote for the upcoming contestants.
    September 11 03:51 PM
  • Jethro42 You only have to choose an obscure, unknown or overlooked prog album that has 20 votes or under, and when Friday13th will set the table, you will have to make a short description about the reasons why you love your album. Tournament will progress by elimination, one against one all the time.
    September 11 03:43 PM
  • Jethro42 Gotcha, my friend Hahaha cool story! I figured it was a joke or a sort of story telling segment. So yes, tock tock, -Who's this- ''Jethro sent me'' ( pass word to access the tournament) :D
    September 11 03:03 PM
  • butcherboy hahaha, cheers.. my phone glitched last night and posted a list under both accounts somehow..
    September 11 03:02 PM
  • Jethro42 Hey bud! Friday13th is preparing another of his prog tourneys. Would you be interested to be a part of it? Please, apply here. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=166576
    September 11 11:17 AM
  • verdant of course diva :] and it happens to everyone! for what it's worth you couldn't tell reading it, and the context you provided felt both important and well-put! keep it up!
    September 8 12:07 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Is this like Fight Club? Is this why I feel so tired? I'm Doof...but I'm also Compost. A double life. A living nightmare.

  • ZombieToyDuck In case you wanna see my 1 year list man here you go!http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=176835
    August 25 02:18 PM
  • Dewinged My father just used to bomb me with Led Zep and Beatles since I was a kid so I got those songs carved in my brain haha
    August 23 08:33 PM
  • Dewinged Another one I would like to see live would be Led Zep! Stairway live would probably be the death of me.
    August 22 11:45 PM
  • TwigTW I know. I should be used to it by now.
    August 22 04:38 PM
  • SowingSeason ty copy pasta-ing that verbatim
    August 22 04:21 PM
  • SowingSeason correct
    August 22 04:20 PM
  • TwigTW ...if only they could all bet together in one band it would be great!
    August 22 04:02 PM
  • TwigTW They actually did play Boston this year, but they were mixed in with the Boston Calling festival and I missed it--next time . . . I see two versions of Yes are touring at the same time (The Steve Howe version, and an Anderson/Wakeman version). They both use the name Yes, and they both play here within days of each other! What a mess.
    August 21 11:48 AM
  • verdant all good, diva. you bring some really positive vibes to the site and i appreciate ya
    August 19 11:42 PM
  • TwigTW Most bands come to Boston Diva, so I've been lucky to see them all. I'm still waiting for Bjork and Portishead. They're definitely on my bucket list, Sigur Ros too. I'd say Father John Misty, but I'm seeing him in September. Also, I'd put The Smiths on the list even though I've seen them. They are the one band that I need to see one more time! Sadly, anyone else I would put on the list has passed, so there is no chance of seeing them.
