| LettuceInAmbers Any chance of getting your New Wave playlist from the Build an album 3 round? Would be very interested but I don't know where I would find the tracklist
| DoofDoof Liked the van houten first two listens, been a bit distracted as heading on holiday tomorrow but hopefully will revisit while out there - listened to the new Ride today and I definitely think I will stick with the van houten ahead of that in th battle of the psychedelia bands, pretty uninspiring
| SlothcoreSam Half of it is excellent, then the other half is Aussie pub friendly rock.
| SlothcoreSam Yo Anat, you checked the new West Themberton yet? Saw you liked their previous effort.
| DoofDoof reviewed...badly reviewed really...a personal take anyway!
| DoofDoof Pitchfork are saying he should have gone for a full new sound like the opener and a couple of others but I am of the opposite opinion - that the contemplative second half is near perfect for him
| DoofDoof the new Devon Welsh is interesting, was going to bury it after the first song but I will be damned if later some of these songs suddenly hit me with the realisation they might be some of the best of the year. Probably a mixed bag but also I feel there might just be the depth for a bit of a cult classic if I can get fully acclimatised
| DoofDoof Matt Maltese singing This is the Day by The The?
| DoofDoof Yes, I had hyped this release day and everything disappointed me to some degree, at least on first impressions! (will revisit everything though, maybe not the Courting) The Ty Segall might even claim my favourite of this week, it had something buried in the hour long run time, which is unexpected. Super intrigued what your new material will sound like, good luck with the final touches.
| DoofDoof I was thinking the other day that the music I am least inclined to revisit right now is mid 00s indie sort of stuff so bad timing in that regard, I just hardly listen to anything from that era or any Pitchfork-core from those days either at the moment. To me it seems to be playing pop with quite a straight bat whereas before there was experimentation and maybe some mischief and subversion. The debut was at least fun to listen to which ever way you stacked it up.
| DoofDoof What are Courting doing with the autotune? Some of the instrumental choices are quite promising but the song writing and vocals have fallen off a cliff :/
| Manatea Lol the review had a reference to Aaron Rodgers and Mars made a comment about it and it turned into an NFL thread ever since. DGD discussion not allowed
| Manatea Uhhhh the way the niners played tonight? Rams Super Bowl practically confirmed. Also i have to invite you to the premier nfl sput thread https://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?reviewid=85271
| Manatea One more good draft and we?re going to the bowl next year
| neekafat ok thank you!! promise i will be good next time!
| neekafat Hi hi I am sorry I was visiting with family but im back, did I miss a round??
| Feather Your profile pic went real well with that demand
| Manatea Yeah we?re playing on house money my guy. If we get to divisional drinks are on me
| Manatea Tbh i would prefer the eagles out of anyone because they are collapsing rn. After that would be the lions just because that matchup would literally be epic. I dont like the idea of a cowboys game in Dallas again?
| Manatea I just want like 1 50 yd bomb so that he can be done and we can not play him the rest of the game you know? Honestly it?s just been fun to root for the rams this season. Also I would be extremely pleased if stafford goes god mode again for the playoffs
| Manatea Puka gonna break the record this weekend
| Squiggly Sup anat. Have you heard the new Ex-isles? Do you plan on reviewing it? If not I would like to take a shot at it.
| zakalwe The latest Jungle is impressive definitely worth a listen
| Pangea Yes sir! I'm doing it today, doing a final listen and writing the comments. Appreciate the looking out!
| JohnnyoftheWell HI thank you so much for expressing interest in Sputmix 2023! There is one (one!) bureaucracy barrier for you to overcome - please hit up this form and send your info over asap, so I can get a database going and pin down what this thing is gonna look like. Love! https://forms.gle/zkKtidhnXpgYUsUv5
| DoofDoof 'I Am a Bird Now' below the new one - very interesting. It is a lot closer a call than I would ever have predicted that is for sure.
| DoofDoof seems a bit slight compared to the previous one though, I rate it a shade lower
| DoofDoof yes, think one of the reasons the album is already getting dismissed/overlooked - I already enjoy it a lot, some great lines/deliveries from Baxtah in there.
| Sunnyvale Hi Anat! I'm putting the finishing touches on a review for The Lounge Society... Let me know if you were planning on publishing anything for it today/tomorrow and I'm happy to hold off putting it out for a few days, as I did you give you first dib on it. It's still staying on steady rotation for me!
| Pangea Hi Anat, do you have a song for sotd? the theme is nature https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=200646
| SlothcoreSam Hey anat, new month new Song of the Day, you wanna give us a rec, the theme is duets. Any genre as long as there are 2 singers. You wanna give us a song for SONG OF THE DAY, the theme is duets, any genre, just need the song to feature 2 different singers. https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=200376
| zakalwe Definitely mate lovely bit of background music.
| DoofDoof I prefer it to For Those I Love where I still feel the emphasis was on the poetic nature of the lyrics - the music connects with me and stands out a lot more on the Real Lies. Still like the FTIL album though
| DoofDoof ello mate, check the new Real Lies, amazing stuff
| Atari eh you can have first dibs but I might write something later if I find something interesting enough to say. gotta love all the fish tank references, haha. also, Never Any Horses is just heartbreaking..
| Atari think you'll cover the new Craig Finn?
| dedex yoooooo anat BY ANY CHANCE do u have a live tune for this month's SOTD thank uuuuuuuuuuu
| zakalwe One from last year that I still listen to a lot is Signals by Marconi. Definitely worthy of your time if you haven?t spun it.
| zakalwe Nice One. It took me a few listens to really hit home but it is honestly a top 20 possibly even top 10 of all time for me. The closer is absolutely ****ing magnificent. Genuinely life affirming and not laid on too thick like a lot of their material. Amazing record.
| dedex grats on reclaiming your title :]
| ArsMoriendi You got only 1 week to message me on discord with your Santa rec! The end of next Thursday the 23rd!
| JohnnyoftheWell heya anat bby, good question tbh. I think the original average was unacceptably high and people were rating for only the first installment, which rather annoyed me, but I should probably hnn
| Bedex i have a feeling you would liek https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=409333
| Bedex i have faith and always shall
| Bedex the best hat is the one that has anat in it that was my holy grail
| Bedex i was on an impromptu Brighton trip yesterday I looked for your propeller hat all afternoon to no avail big sad
| SlothcoreSam Hey Anat, you checked the new Nightwatchers album yet?
| zakalwe EIGHTY QUID!!!!! I will have to settle for the snood.
| zakalwe Good lad. I absolutely love it. Has the lot but most importantly it?s real deal.
| zakalwe No way! Bloody hell what a nightmare. Bad luck mate.
| zakalwe A good night and you are a good bloke. Thanks for letting me ponce fags all night. Hope the interview went well.
| zakalwe Hahaha yes I was livid. My lateral flow test is delivered today. Absolutely bloody ridiculous.
| zakalwe New Jungle album is a blinder.
| Koris Hey, glad to see that someone else here rated the Sayonara Wild Hearts soundtrack! That was one of my favorite games of the last few years... I'm actually kinda kicking myself for not including one of its songs on my SOTD list entry
| DrGonzo1937 fancy doing a short blurb for the iosonouncane aotm, anat?
| someone i'll be calling you elier from now on
| JesperL that all the king's daughters ep was v neat v 3.5, hope they get around to making a full length some day bc i reckon that'd be nice n chill as hell too!
| JohnnyoftheWell Your ~Random album is Starflyer 59 - Silver and I am jealous bc it looks great and I almost poached it! You have until June 28th to submit a review, hit up the thread with any questions. Good luck! :]:]
| Pheromone yeah will check but you havent checked prolapse yet so how can i trust
| Egarran It's mostly symbolic, but I like it! Let me know if it's weird.
| someone Hey you, 'Post-Punk 14%', waddup?
| Pheromone YEAHHHYEAHYEAHYEAHYEAHYEAHHHHHHHHHHHHYEAHYEAHYEAHYEAHYEAHHHH
| Pheromone https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=40294 check
| DDDeftoneDDD Tk U brother! Your 1 pick for 2020 is legit cool folk! I cam see the 4.5-5 potential
| YoYoMancuso i love that comparison! we actually discovered frame and canvas a few weeks ago and were shocked at how similar our sounds were
| YoYoMancuso random thought but i also released a project a few months back and think you'd like it! https://open.spotify.com/album/36WJOSePq5ktBwaYeAHGfc?si=ANLbZf5PQxCs7Za1hApppw
| YoYoMancuso yo fantastic job on this album, friend! favorite song was spiders up sequoias. seriously great work
| someone arab strap is already on the list o' mine to come, but the other thing i'll check. thanks a plenty
| someone need some spicy juicy tasty recs of 50-100 ratings. could you throw me an album or two?
| Pheromone that daniel knox is an already contender for aoty good rec (dare i say..... great rec?)
| Pheromone he's definitely on the good side of his influences AND, this isn't an artist for google, but Prolapse - Pointless Walks in Dismal Places !
| Pheromone This daniel knox is a nice mix of nick cave, the veils and a bit of scott walker thrown in there - I really like it so far
| Pheromone Long Fin Killie - Valentino, as with your rec it's a bit eccentric at the start but grows. Really can't think of anything similar to it.
| Pheromone also i have a few rec's that i think are up your street, but wont drop em all at once - do you fancy kinda slowcore chill stuff, kinda punky 90s indie stuff or really creative n somehow unknown scottish-indie?
| Pheromone I meant more so that it took time to find anything from the year to be that into. Saying that, though, Purple Mountains s/t is an all timer and that was 2019
| Pheromone it'll be my first 2021 listen so if 2020 and 2019 are anything to go by, it'll be a 3 - ill jam it tomorrow and lyk what i think
| Pheromone yo replacement doof, what was that 2021 album you said to try out? (I could have checked discord but this seems a more poetic form now)
| Pheromone i listened to your new song - ****in gorgeous man x
| Pheromone did you end up getting tickets for the arab strap' show? i plan on it but cant fork out the money rn so hoping it doesn't sell out
| ArsMoriendi Bro the deadline for your Santa rec is coming up Thursday's end EST, pm ASAP with the rec

| Ronike Just watched Whiplash so big ups for the pfp. Such a great film.
| robertsona hmm! At first I thought it exceedingly simple in some way, and I wouldn't say for me it wholly distinguished itself from other alt-r
| robertsona listening to it now! thanks for the bump
| robertsona yes yes swear to it. papa's birthday celebration coming up but sunday for sure
| robertsona Awesome! EVRYBODYSTALKINBOUTTHESTATEOFTHEWEATHER
| robertsona yah turns out theyre nice enough to keep it up for 24hr so I have dat password if you want to watch it. they pummel live.
| robertsona I think you might really like Pure Adult?s 2019 EP and new single. They?re doing a livestream on Friday that will be genuinely high quality so you can check that out too on the off chance that you get to it by then heh
| Sowing check jaye jayle's latest, I think you'd dig
| Pangea okay i understand. If you still want to join, picking something from the region and/or nearby town/city is fine too
| Pangea hey anatelier! i saw you in the thread. are you still in for the July sotd? https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=192338
| zakalwe Morning. Enjoyed it the vocals remind me of Stephen Jones from Babybird solo material.
| zakalwe Nice one for whacking up that new doves song mate. Lovely surprise. I remember a Cherry Ghost record from around 10yrs being quite a thing. I?ll give it a go.
| parksungjoon man i liked tycho back when i still listened to him but that soundoff is great lol
| Divaman Hey Anatelier, Have you got a song for us this month? https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=190606
| SandwichBubble It's a convenient truth, the best kind of truth. I wouldn't be that petty.
| Trifolium Hello anatelier! Do you perhaps have a rec for us for the Song Of The Day thread? The theme is ''the best rec you ever got through Sput''. Anything goes. Would be awesome! https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1122787
| DoubleDD banned for another week I think - watch this space. I think it was because I used the 'other F word' to make a pun about Slipknot fans identifying as Maggots. Ill advised. I basically feigned outrage and said labeling their fans F aggots was too strong. I need to work on my sense of humour
| DoofDoof starting to get into the babybird - see what you mean about the noir vibe, sometimes its almost trip-hop ish
| Trifolium Nice, thanks man! Checking right now, sounds very good so far.
| user "your username would have been an apt title for this record" lmao
| DoofDoof It?s a futile exercise but you just have to do it all the same - just like real voting
| DoofDoof Are you voting in the user's poll? Award Paddy Hanna 41pts and he might just make the user's AOTY list ;D
| Papa Universe appears like something you might find enjoyment in: https://thetoweroflight.bandcamp.com/album/the-tower-of-light-2
| Papa Universe you might enjoy Father Murphy - Rising and Ivar Bjornsson
| DoofDoof There are five, maybe six, songs on that album I hold really dear and that's one of them, perhaps the very best of them...and I'm still not ruling out it could end up my AOTY. I actually have had two or three weeks not listening to it for the first time since I first stumbled on it, not that I got tired of it.
| DoofDoof Classic, trying to think what I usually presume the lyrics are on that song. Glad to hear he was the gracious sort, that album is so joyful I couldn't get my head around the idea he isn't also a top lad
| luci snooping in on your convo with doof... this matt maltese record is a riot. hilarious and engaging. beating fjm at his own game this year
| DoofusWainwright Definitely review it, it's something totally different and right now this site has reverted to type so much and only the most obvious stuff is getting much traction. Even Lucid's Rosehall review didn't get as much attention as I was hoping, but I like that stuff off the beaten path gets some exposure. I'll focus in on the lyrics properly on my next listen, sure they'll start seeping in if those examples are anything to go by lol
| DoofusWainwright having a little listen now...you see I thought I was already listening to the most schmaltzy singer/songwriter discovery of the year in irishman Perry Blake's 2002 release 'California' - this will rival it. Impressive. I think this rec has arrived at the perfect time for me, fits right in with my current listening. We must have an approx 90% overlap in what we've both listen to this year, you just don't like that Beach House ;)
| DoofusWainwright Matt Maltese, not a name I'll forget, will check. Are you tempted to put up a 'Half Year 2018' list? I will put up one next week, from April on this year has been chocka
| DoofusWainwright It reminds me a little bit of ?Mangy Love? by Cass McCombs - can see it growing on me
| DoofusWainwright I?ve been waiting for the Jurado to appear on Spotify but I guess I?ll find a stream elsewhere. I like some of this previous stuff but never had him down as a world beater before. I did notice this album got a better reception than usual though. What stands out about it?
| DoofusWainwright Almost like a Thom Yorke ballad sung by a fragile wounded version of Kate Bush, you've found another cracker here, guess there might be more hidden gems on the same label then?
| DoofusWainwright Ah, have a good trip. They're hardly recs, I know they're both favourite artists of yours - both AOTY contenders in my book. I will pick up a copy of the Moffat next month and digest it properly, but I really enjoyed my first listen of it. The TFS is very dense but trust me, it all comes together after a few listens.
| DoofusWainwright I think the Tropical **** Storm album might be better than 'Feelin Kinda Free', incredible guitar work throughout.
| DoofusWainwright If you want more Irish vocals try Microdisney ?We hate you South African bastards? - rereleased with the less offensive title ?Love Your Enemies?. It?s a comp of their early stuff, more sparse and experimental than what followed. Cathal Coughlan is one of those singers where I love most everything he does
| DoofusWainwright ha, that is a really unexpected sound - it warmed up as the track progressed, I liked it, maybe not quite as much as the first track you linked me from the album. What is the release date again? I also tried the The Longcut rec but only the once, will give it another play soon, it was definitely a good first listen. Haven't got too much to rec right now, I like that Paddy Hanna album I reviewed but it is probably too lightweight for your tastes
| DoofusWainwright Yeah, I gave it about a week off, worked wonders. On holiday right now so listening to a lot less music than usual so it really stood out all the more for that too. Dunno if I?ll 4.5 it but it?s definitely top 10 of the year so far
| DoofusWainwright Will check soon, tried the Protus Opus today and have to say it continues to impress me, in terms of genre it?s all over the place but despite that it still has easily one of the best track flows of anything I?ve listened to this year
| DoofusWainwright I am 50/50 about their previous stuff, do you think the new one is this their best release?
| Papa Universe I know it leaked some time ago, but I honourably wait for the official release.
| DoofusWainwright On my third try of Protus Opus - yeah, it's a great great rec. It could creep up to a 4.5 for me too, something very addictive in there, nice unified atmosphere considering the minimal ingredients reading the bandcamp description!
| Papa Universe but you might also enjoy the new Frigs, Buck-Tick, The Soft Moon, Silent EM, Mind Spiders, Actors, , ********, Shopping, Vox Low, Screature, Sex Park, Exek
| Papa Universe Ought, The Dead Mantra, Kandekt, (kinda) Screaming Females
| DoofusWainwright First listen and the Acollective has a really perfect palette of sounds but i'm not sure about the variety or song writing quite yet. Some of it even reminded me a bit of Half Moon Run or Foreign Fields. Have you ever tried 'What I Kept in Hiding' by FF? Very lush sounding indie, maybe a little twee/cheesy in places but I think it all adds to the effect - you might like it.
| DoofusWainwright lol - it's been Elliott Smith/emo'd. Clever how the arrangement is altered - reversed?
| DoofusWainwright Well it has the intriguing bandname/cover art combo down. Will check it soon, suddenly the flood gates seem to have opened on 2018 releases, loads out
| DoofusWainwright Opinion of the Wild Beasts live album? Only gave it one go so far, not really what I was hoping for on first impression.
| DoofusWainwright The Hookworms album is up there with the No Age for me, I guess they"re my top 2 so far for 2018, but it's very early days. The Wasuremo might join them - in agreement, I liked the closing run on that album the most when I tried it today.
| DoofusWainwright Wasn?t sure you would, nice. I do prefer the first half of the album personally but it?s pretty solid throughout. Only listened to the Wasuremono twice so going to give it another try today, I liked it but I?m not sure how much yet.
| DoofusWainwright I will give it a go, how?s 2018 treating you? Haven?t got much new to rec so far this year, the No Age has grown on me a bit, might be too ?90s reverential for you, not sure.
| DoofusWainwright Bumped the Hundred Waters to a 4, also downloaded it to give it more of a proper go. Starting to work it?s magic on me, it definitely sounds more confident than the previous album. Maybe slightly too much of the same good thing vocally in that I almost get maxed out by the singing style by the end, but that doesn?t mean that it isn?t all very good nonetheless.
| DoofusWainwright I?ll give it another go, I?m not sure why I?m finding it less dinstinctive than the previous one so far. If it?s an anatelier top 5 of 2017 I?ll keep trying, I can?t remember a time I didn?t agree with one of your recs.
| DoofusWainwright It's...not everyday listening, if you know what the film is about you should be able to start getting an idea. 'Happy' music for demented serial killers with chipmunk-y vocals. I only listened to two songs - might return to it out of curiosity. The rec was amazing though, listened to it three times in a row straight off the bat.
| DoofusWainwright The Andrew Hung went into his Greasy Strangler soundtrack on Spotify...now that sounds different
| DoofusWainwright I know, it feels wrong. It was a joke for Zak and Boney - I might review the Rover album sometime soon and then I'll decide whether to go back to Plainview.
| DoofusWainwright The band UniqueUniverse is rec'ing at the moment, And Also the Trees have more than a little of that current Veils atmosphere about them. Been listening to his favourite of their albums, 2007's 'the Rag and Bone Man'. Give it a try, think you might like it. A bit of Nick Cave in there too.
| DoofusWainwright I listened to it a second time and 'Really Free' stood out as my favourite. Starting to think there's something infectious about the album though, will give it some more time.
| DoofusWainwright First listen of the Otway Wild Will Barrett and I'll definitely return to it, seemed a bit hit and miss on first impression but probably just needs time. Vocals very actorly in an almost Bowie fashion, liked them.
| cosmopazz http://poleyounger.bandcamp.com/album/polo-youngings-has-died-in-a-car-crash
| DoofusWainwright Always up for a pint, hopefully I can make it down. Early married life, trying for a family, so a lot depends on all that. End of September if there are still tickets I'll make a call one way or the other.
| DoofusWainwright Impressive they can sell out Ally Pally, didn't realise they were that big. Tempted to look into getting tickets for that.
| DoofusWainwright I've been going over the messages I got while away, just getting back into the swing of it - never heard any John Otway to my knowledge, will investigate. Really chuffed the Everything Everything is so strong, think thereve been a lot of knee jerk dismissals of it but there's something so inviting about it to me :/
| Conmaniac hahah u dog ok ok today is the day I PROMISE
| Conmaniac no man I honestly havent even tho ive sampled them numerous times...gotta throw it on my list of s*** to check. thx
| Papa Universe What Whaaat?! ROUND 6 http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?mode=1
| ZombieToyDuck We're waiting on your rec dude when you get a chancehttp://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=176333
| verdant sure, thanks for the welcome, hope to see you around, etc etc
| DoofusWainwright Treguard is an alt, rating the artist rather than the individual album. The others are genuine other living breathing sputters. Great album, still thinking of reviewing it?
| cosmopazz hey wanna give my new pole younger album a try (no probs if you don't) http://poleyounger.bandcamp.com/album/specifically-greek-stoner-bands
| DoofusWainwright Listened to both albums today. The KU I missed off the other list as I was using RYM to filter what I've listened to this year and it hasn't actually been entered into their database. That's top 15, and I've listened to close to 200 albums so that's going some. 'Hyacinth', 'Turque', 'Spring Elevator' and the closer...some classics on there. Need to get a copy of the previous album. Early days with the Cameramen, it's good, just not sure how good quite yet.
| DoofusWainwright In agreement that the Algiers vocals make that album borderline unlistenable
| DoofusWainwright I looked them up on RYM and saw a comment saying the singer has an account there too, definitely impressed after a first listen and I'll road test it this week, give it a few more goes. The Rome album repeats itself a bit, I mean it's impossible to listen to the two most full bodied songs back to back because they're so so similar. Something about the atmosphere, the album has a real sense of time and geography, plus I like the anger betrayed in his voice at points. It's snuck a 5 rating for now
| DoofusWainwright Loving the rec so far, downloaded it as it was nmp, naturally. A couple of songs I wasn't sold on first spin but stuff like the opener, 'Dreams', 'Onwards/Upwards' and 'Dune' were incredible straight off.
| DoofusWainwright There's a bit of goth in them thanks to the vocals and some of the instrumentation, can imagine fans of Depeche Mode or The Cure liking the album
| DoofusWainwright Tentative rec, have you ever heard of 'Flowers from Exile' by Rome? A tiny bit of a Lone Wolf vibe in there
| DoofusWainwright That new KU album is excellent again, sounds like the exact music I'd want to listen to at a festival when all I wanted to do is kick back a bit and close my eyes in the sun.
| DoofusWainwright I remember the previous KU rec, will definitely check it soon as
| wtferrothorn Hey man, I appreciate all the submissions you sent in for the Submit My Singles project. Though one small thing; that Bonobo track, while the album it is off of did come out in 2017, came out back in 2016. I'm def going to include the other tracks you sent in, but by technicality I can't put in that one, sorry.

| DoofusWainwright KU album was good, didn't expect Jerusalem early doors, great version actually. I'll revisit when the review goes up.
