  • GhandhiLion Nice! I thought they would be. | Only the first cassette album has no track information. It also has no ratings, so I presume it isn't available.
    July 14 10:11 AM
  • GhandhiLion You should check out the band Kemialliset Ystavat some time.
    July 14 09:39 AM

    July 8 04:32 PM
  • GhandhiLion That's fair. I should have emphasised the pop bit more.
    June 27 08:27 PM
  • GhandhiLion Coldwave pop single from 2018. | Got big in Russia for its politics/music video.
    June 27 07:17 PM
  • Dylan620 Re: your Thank You Scientist soundoff | The singer mocked/apologized for his own body odor when I saw the band live a few nights ago
    June 27 06:03 PM
  • GhandhiLion They are certainly different.
    June 26 08:46 PM
  • GhandhiLion It is strange that there isn't much information on the 1966 one out there. I've seen it mentioned as his best.
    June 26 08:43 PM
  • GhandhiLion "Morning and Evening Ragas" on sput is listed as 1955 when the name and cover is from the 1966 album | Have you listened to both recordings? I'm not sure what to check, I think they are different.
    June 26 01:32 PM
  • Flomink Hey, you recommended me Collisions and Near Misses by K Sera a while back and I loved it, so I thought I'd return the favor. If you're still into that kind of prog, there's a band called Bad Books, and I think you'd really enjoy their II and III albums.
    June 24 08:09 AM
  • GhandhiLion | This is from last week and is the only think I have read from them in a long time.
    June 23 10:40 AM
  • GhandhiLion Iv'e never followed Pitchfork for recs, but from what I hear they are actually better these days. Supposedly there is less posturing and there are better reviewers. They still think Joan of Arc are the worst thing ever though.
    June 23 10:34 AM
  • GhandhiLion Fair enough. I usually do but people were referencing Polvo and Pere Ubu so I couldn't resist.
    June 23 10:00 AM
  • GhandhiLion Also this album "Black Midi - Schlagenheim". Is getting hyped up right now like Daughters last year. It is worth checking.
    June 23 09:40 AM
  • GhandhiLion Ahh they reissued The Geeks. Will check some other stuff of there then.
    June 23 09:35 AM
  • GhandhiLion There is a band from the same time called The Twinkeyz who experimented with psychedelia and garage too. A lot more traditional sounding, but they are worth checking.
    June 23 09:22 AM
  • GhandhiLion Nice : )
    June 23 09:19 AM
  • GhandhiLion Yeah the single. | Any other crazy proto post-punk garage bands I should know about? Stuff like Pere Ubus early singles.
    June 23 09:02 AM
  • GhandhiLion You should check Little Johnny Jewel by Television if you haven't already. Crazy ahead of its time.
    June 23 08:51 AM
  • GhandhiLion Yeah Thurston Moore was a big fan of Debris' apparently. | Just listened to Rocket From The Tombs last night. Annoyed I didn't check em before.
    June 23 08:50 AM
  • GhandhiLion
    June 22 10:31 PM
  • GhandhiLion "Nazir Jairazbhoy" Oh really? I do feel like a fool now.

  • DoofDoof You will forgive me for rating it after 45 minutes - allegedly it is an hour and a half long and front loaded according to most...she cant take any more captain!
    June 17 03:38 AM
  • GhandhiLion A classic.
    June 15 01:47 PM

    June 15 12:03 PM
  • GhandhiLion That's understandable. Anything world music rock is love/hate for me.
    June 14 09:35 PM
  • GhandhiLion It's pretty one style, so perhaps you wont.
    June 14 09:19 PM
  • GhandhiLion
    June 14 09:04 PM
  • GhandhiLion thanks
    June 14 02:42 PM
  • GhandhiLion I would imagine that compilations reveal more about the time period. Given most are archived material put out decades later. What should I check?
    June 14 02:19 PM
  • GhandhiLion I'm trying to find more stuff like The Keggs. Their cheap guitar sound is like the shaggs .
    June 14 01:58 PM
  • GhandhiLion Yeah it's rad. A lot of good proto punk singles from that period
    June 14 01:51 PM
  • GhandhiLion
    June 13 02:25 PM
  • GhandhiLion Nice! I only found out about it from that Arthur Russell documentary. It's cool to find new music like Miles' on the corner. | He also appeared on this super group
    June 8 05:06 PM
  • Papa Universe absolutely correct. if there is any way to describe me, it truly is: "sir, this is private property, please leave now!"
    June 8 04:59 PM
  • Papa Universe interesting you should mention it: Helado Negro
    June 8 04:46 PM
  • GhandhiLion Have you checked any of Arthur Russell's disco songs? | its quite similar to Miles Davis' fusion stuff /Rip Rig Panic
    June 8 04:38 PM

  • GhandhiLion *Bound and gagged
    May 29 02:51 PM
  • GhandhiLion I would prefer no recs right now. Just tell me if you find any good stuff from 2019. | Also check Gagged and Bound
    May 29 02:46 PM
  • GhandhiLion true | 1 reply = 1 rec
    May 29 02:20 PM
  • GhandhiLion But if I add it that way it looks like an ep. The no singles police might complain if i put song 1 / song2
    May 29 02:11 PM
  • GhandhiLion | more bands to inflate your backlog.
    May 29 02:02 PM
  • GhandhiLion Yeah it's great stuff. I wouldn't of recognised they had guitarist from Contortions. I'm surprised they have few ratings on rym/sput but similar view counts to James Chance on yt.
    May 29 01:27 PM
  • GhandhiLion haha | check this out. Someone linked it to a A Certain Ratio and The Cramps.
    May 29 12:57 PM
  • GhandhiLion You are probably right anyway.

  • GhandhiLion Have you seen Jill Kroesen's youtube channel? She uploads plays she wrote and stuff. She participated in this spoken word album/ opera show Cool stuff
    May 29 12:26 PM
  • GhandhiLion Yeah, All Clowns No Lions has the wrong release date on rym. I don't know how they managed to **** up that.
    May 27 05:32 PM
  • GhandhiLion Although wrong it's probably better that it doesn't have the OE character. For search reasons.
    May 25 08:04 PM
  • GhandhiLion Not even sure if I listened to the whole thing. Just sparked my interest because of This Heat!

    May 20 11:18 AM
  • DoofDoof 3.5 for now...higher later? We shall see. Liked it though, starts like a house on fire - that cannot be disputed

    April 30 06:46 PM
  • Asdfp277 no, the thing is, back in the day there used to be a lot of white squares that not even the mods could fix, caché or not. those were the white squares of death, but apparently they don't show up anymore -- or at least, not as often. I'll just edit away now then :0
    April 27 11:56 PM
  • Asdfp277 yea it's showing up for me now, sweet~
    April 27 11:41 PM
  • Asdfp277 I uploaded it yesterday and it was approved, then it got back to a white square again, and it's still showing up as a white square on different platforms for me ://
    April 27 11:31 PM
  • GhandhiLion klezmer garage..... that reminds me -
    April 27 04:15 PM
  • GhandhiLion Yep, thanks that ones on slsk
    April 27 04:12 PM
  • GhandhiLion Ah that is a re-release lp, I presumed it was a single.
    April 27 04:09 PM

    April 27 03:51 PM
  • GhandhiLion Found this Klezmer garage rock band too.
    April 27 01:27 PM
  • GhandhiLion | | "sometimes playing with a neon sign, reading "Naftule Brandwein Orchestra", around his neck, and with his back facing the audience, to conceal his fingering tricks. He also wore plugged-in Christmas lights as part of his costume on several occasions, which once shorted out when he perspired too much, almost electrocuting him." | Klezmer was punk af
    April 27 01:24 PM
  • GhandhiLion Do you think it is worth asking about adding singles on the forums? Basically discrimination against the blues tbh.
    April 27 11:09 AM
  • 50iL Gotcha, I'll dive into his stuff promptly
    April 23 02:21 PM
  • 50iL Ah, fair enough. I'm not either, new to classical and stuff hehe
    April 23 12:13 PM

  • GhandhiLion | New Moondog jazz tribute!
    April 18 06:44 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Yeah it's got more going for it than the first; it's like they went from cute quirky fun to flat out zany weirddom and there's a lot to like about it. I see it growing...
    April 17 08:33 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Damn this album is weird
    April 17 08:27 PM
  • GhandhiLion I thought a month but I guess the few who had it weren't online.
    April 17 08:08 PM
  • GhandhiLion I just found a pre-release digital version of the album on slsk....
    April 17 08:05 PM
  • GhandhiLion ahh ok. I'm not sure why that happened, but so long as the tags exist its good.
    April 17 07:51 PM
  • GhandhiLion It will be on slsk now. (my whole music folder is shared there)
    April 17 07:23 PM
  • GhandhiLion thanks a lot!
    April 17 07:21 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Hahaha will do, have a good nap ;] Jamming their first rn as warmup...

  • JohnnyoftheWell Aha sandwich by name, sandwich! All sent ;]
    April 17 03:35 PM

    April 17 02:27 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell :O sooo what's your email and how much am I wiring you?
    April 17 02:26 PM
  • SandwichBubble I've actually heard Die Liebe from a post-punk compilation: | But I never heard the A-side before! Traumtanzer is definitely more my speed.
    April 17 11:57 AM
  • GhandhiLion \ gonna feed your backlog
    April 17 09:35 AM
  • GhandhiLion
    April 17 09:27 AM
  • Pheromone Also Dust
    April 16 07:23 PM
  • Pheromone I rate that - I'm very much an album at a time sorta guy. I.e. it took me 6 years from that first Seam album to listen to the next one.
    April 16 07:22 PM
  • Pheromone I can't tell how you're gonna feel about them. ANYWAY I'd rec you check 'Are You Driving Me Crazy?' out of all of their albums - it's been on my rotation for the past month, and it is beautiful.
    April 16 07:06 PM
  • Pheromone Did you ever get to the Seam stuff?
    April 16 06:28 PM
  • GhandhiLion | Here is an album I haven't heard. 2018, genre tags, and critical acclaim attracted me though.
    April 16 02:08 PM
  • GhandhiLion //This one is somehow better than the one I sent you a while ago.
    April 16 11:39 AM
  • GhandhiLion \ also this that came out before Tuxedomoons first ep. B side is like Contortions with zolo electronics.
    April 15 01:42 PM
  • GhandhiLion Go for it. Site is dumb for not allowing singles anyway.
    April 15 01:31 PM
  • GhandhiLion It is on rym under Christian Lunch.
    April 15 01:13 PM
  • neekafat Yessss thank you!

  • Dylan620 Hmmmm fair about the vocoder, I do prefer the croon he's got on albums like Is a Woman and OH (Ohio)
    April 5 06:42 PM
  • Dylan620 Also, your rating for the new Lambchop makes me sad :[
    April 5 06:23 PM
  • Dylan620 Vivadixie is my least favorite of the three, but it's still a 3.8 for me and that's a damn good rating for any "least favorite"
    April 5 06:22 PM
  • Dylan620 I already loved It's a Wonderful Life but aside from a single listen to Vivadixie when I checked both albums back in November, I didn't really try out any other Sparklehorse until the past month or so. I think Spider is beginning to pull away as my favorite - Wonderful is more consistent and perhaps superior on a song-for-song basis but something about the eclecticism and eccentricity of Spider really strikes a chord with me, with the songcraft of course remaining strong throughout.
    April 5 06:21 PM
  • Dylan620 Thank you for passing your Sparklehorse love down to me. I'm obsessed with Good Morning Spider at the minute
    April 5 02:51 PM
  • GhandhiLion From a tribute album along with Dog Faced Hermans.
    April 4 01:18 PM

    March 25 06:55 PM
  • Papa Universe I shall do that once you start saying 'you' instead of 'u'.
    March 25 06:51 PM
  • Papa Universe man, I gotta get back to my Unknown Post-Punk lists. already have half of the new one done.
    March 25 06:45 PM
  • Papa Universe apparently there's a third volume of Subnormal Girls compilations:
    March 25 04:30 PM
  • Tyler. what do you think ?
    March 24 04:25 PM
  • GhandhiLion Will do.
    March 24 01:49 PM
  • GhandhiLion I was just about to rec you The Magic of ju ju. I knew you would like the title track.
    March 24 11:08 AM
  • Frippertronics I don't think anyone back in 2007-09 would believe for a moment that Panda was now the weakest link in AnCo and Deak would have the best solo album out of them all, but here we are.
    March 22 10:42 PM
  • Frippertronics Apparently, Avey is saving stuff for the next album cycle, which leaves me hopeful although could you imagine if something like HORS or What's the Goodside made it onto an AnCo album? Add that along with some new Deakin songs, and you'd have arguably the best album they've done in ages no doubt. Added bonus if no Panda tbh
    March 22 09:45 PM
  • Frippertronics Why, it's a good (yes, you read that right) AnCo/AnCo-related album. Something that's becoming more and more scarce, I'm afraid.
    March 22 01:26 AM
  • Frippertronics I HAVE
    March 22 01:10 AM

  • delajetsetradio Nice to meet you too, been rollin' hard on that 80s wave at the Moment, but yeah nice coincidence :-D
    March 9 05:13 PM
  • GhandhiLion Add kukl to a wishlist, its the band Bjork use to be in. They are similar to Siouxie.
    March 6 02:38 PM
  • Relinquished i'm about halfway to those ratings so watch out ~!
    March 5 04:56 PM
  • GhandhiLion Oh whats the best way to add singles to the database? Use comp, ep or '(single)' in the title?
    March 5 04:07 PM
  • GhandhiLion Ya, I cant rate singles as high as albums. There is a lot of great stuff that hasn't been remembered due to the death of the format.
    March 5 04:00 PM

  • Darius the Great you archived it right?
    February 21 01:30 PM
  • Darius the Great hey remember this gem of a thread?
    February 21 01:30 PM
  • Frippertronics Of course, we'll just see how this plays out. At worst, we can organize a project to get new reviews of these up and running. The ones with a ton of reviews aren't too much of a loss outside of the fact these are solid, quality write-ups but there's no good reason to lose reviews of stuff that is hardly represented these days.
    February 16 11:50 AM
  • Frippertronics Yo, if Iai seriously gets his reviews wiped, we should try and get the reviews where his is the only one (ex. Silver Apples, Gil Scott-Heron) back up on some kind of archival account. Would seriously hate to see the database take such a big hit.
    February 16 11:36 AM
  • Pheromone so i love the songs on the my dad is dead album, but it's an example of where the whole is less than the sum of its parts - I realy struggle to listen to it in its entirety
