| AnimalsAsSummit hey man. put out some new stuff if you're interested - millicentwaffles.bandcamp.com/album/nokturnus-excession
| Greem Hi! Here?s my new album - https://lifeless4.bandcamp.com/album/insider. I?ll be glad if you check it out. Thanks.
| YakNips thanks again for that movietone rec, really great late night music
| Cygnatti Impressive how I can listen to the same songs of theirs and have my mind blown every single time.
| Cygnatti Thanks man, LRD is one of the greatest bands ever ~~
| YakNips http://i.imgur.com/OS0XS1W.jpg i feel the same way
| SachikoM I've got a bit of experience with the coding side of things (I've made websites before), I just think it'd be a case of finding extra writers and staff to help me run it.... If I could get 3-5 people willing to interview artists or write articles and I'd be set.
| SachikoM True. Might start a noise webzine if I can muster up the motivation.
| SachikoM I'm running out of email addresses to use, so this will be my final account. On that note, I guess I should say, enjoy my final week then.
| SachikoM I think it's silly that they continue to ban me.
| Jots yea great rec on your part
| Jots cheers, dunno how much attention it'll get but ayy
| Jots ending up liking that underwood and newman album a lot
| Frippertronics no problem, i'm glad you liked it so much. Have you heard her four studio albums? And I'll check that rec tomorrow thanks
| Nimb49 Also loving tomoyoshi date's solo stuff as far as non-2015 music is concerned.
| Nimb49 Not much. New koufar's really good, and the Taku Unami collab with Jarrod Fowler is pretty good too (the second instalment released last month I think...). I've been listening to celer's handful of new releases as well, although they haven't been doing too much for me. I'm gonna check out that album you recced me at some stage this week. You heard any good stuff recently?
| YakNips lol nah it was intentional, was just a weird combo and i didn't know if it would work. glad you appreciate it though
| YakNips ahhh thats great to hear!! have a split coming soon but nothing entirely in that realm unfortunately. song was kind of a successful experiment
| Phlegm also i don't listen to many obscurities now days but this one piqued my fancy out of nowhere - you may enjoy! https://soundcloud.com/mmm-sound/danny-clay-greg-gorlen-light-through-leaves-side-a-sample
| Phlegm not much man, life has been really consuming lately (IN A GOOD WAY) so i'm just rolling with it! haven't had a whole lot of time to spend on the internet which is probably the healthiest thing 4 a human being now days ~ how about you?
| Winesburgohio yea hard a real worthy cause, why i buy Dilla s*** where possible too his mums medical bills ain't payin' themselves :'(
| Winesburgohio oh cool what's ur rym? rym probably gives a truthful glimpse at my current taste but even that comes with caveats as well y'know
| Winesburgohio bridges that gap between finely-wrought delicatesse and dissonance like little else, absolutely a stunner. hey thanks, i luurve your taste too, it's given me plenty to check out! My sput ratings are weird in that they do and don't reflect my true feelings... it's complex. hey i haven't, mad keen to toe-tap to it though :)
| Nimb49 They have been featuring some pretty bad s***... Still, I think it'll slow down as the halfway point passes. I wish there were more users who listened to outsider genres, but it seems as though it's a bit of a lost cause. There are a few who are willing to try out different things, but when the majority of the userbase is made up of people who listen to less than a handful of genres, it is pointless trying to change their ways...
| Nimb49 The mods have been on a featuring spree for the past month, especially with all the 50% lists and s***.
| Nimb49 The userbase here is really lacking in diversity as far as music taste is concerned.... I could probably list all the people who listen to noise and PE on my left hand. I want to change that, but it feels like an uphill battle; everyone seems resistant to change.
| Nimb49 No good lists recently, maybe excluding cyg's 50% list, but even then, that's more an expression of opinion than a learning tool, so I get nothing from it. Then you have naive trying to out-edgy the entire userbase with unpopular opinions and poorly written reviews.... Oh well. RYM should be up tomorrow, hopefully. :/
| Nimb49 Sucks. Looks like a server crash too... Fingers crossed they haven't lost anything in the process. Looks like I'm stuck back here, for the time being at least.
| Nimb49 Can't believe rym is down. :[
| Winesburgohio what a stellar album... it beguiles and every time i listen i see another facet of it's beauty / horror. immense.
| Winesburgohio no i get that -- if you ever change your mind and feel like uploading it, just let me know :). P.S. by trade i didn't mean **** over musicians, i mean like can i offer you anything u can't find in exchange for your [hypothetical] decision etc.
| Winesburgohio the link won't load but i assume you already found a copy... anything i can trade you for the jed speare? my thirst to listen to it grows more unquenchable by the day
| Winesburgohio or did u already cop it off me offa slsk or even get it from a source other than me either way i would like to hear that tape DEARLY
| Winesburgohio trade u new distel for that jed speare untitled tape? ;)
| Jots #!1M9kUZKb!GhM7y0lubY3ug6VZTYh8AocC5mg_d8IGuf5VBClH754 this is the link someone gave me. i wasn't able to make it work because i'm retarded and don't know how MEGA works but maybe you'll fare better
| Jots pardon the late reply- I'll track down the link for the Distel comp
| AnimalsAsSummit just put out my latest concept work, check it if u get a chance - kinggreenied.bandcamp.com/album/send-mind-to-quasiplex
| YakNips wtf happened to your black howling rating
| Jots yea I saw the new Orb leaked. there's also new Doppelgangaz. I've been digging this Tenement album and this Slum Village piece has some solid tracks
| Jots new Stephan Micus at the end of the month
| LivingThrowaway Wasn't bad... Didn't blow me away, but probably one of the better things to come out this year.
| PunchedPeach72 dodenfkngknt vol kvnt is flawless, it will surely grab top charts for this month like fvullmoonovthemorbidcvnt did
| PunchedPeach72 The dødencvnt//Toilet Sounds split "kvlt øv the Østeen" will shape the future generations of black metal, primitive pagan noise, pre-blackened cvnt metal, avant garde experimental slam metal, and audiobooks across the globe
| Valkyrion hey, just dropping by to say that Echospace album you recommended for the tourney is pretty good, albeit maybe a little too repetitive, especially in the longer tracks (like Aequinoxium...)
| Chortles no prob man, if you've got any similar recs i'd love to hear em!
| Chortles just stopping in to say your lists are a goldmine of goodies, currently balls deep in Coyote Clean Up right now, soooo good. carry on
| Phlegm hey man, sorry about the late reply! I haven't actually, despite liking most of his previous stuff. Reality is lately my music taste has done a complete 180 towards the mainstream and in all honestly i'm quite liking it here! I haven't listening to anything obscure lately, however there is ONE ambient album i've been coming back to in the last month which is Alex Cobb's Chantepleure, which i recommend you check X
| Hyperion1001 awesome, that label also releases ASC stuff so im sure it's awesome. thanks.
| Jots nah, link me a song and we'll c what we c
| Cygnatti here i am! ^__^ https://rateyourmusic.com/~Atrox_Zeitgeist
| TheMagicalBlender I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated you giving Ummagumma a 5. It's easily my favorite 60's Pink Floyd album, and is severely underrated.
| GmemberKills Pacific Temple is amazing! I love the soundscapes in it and the shoegaze vibes I got. I downloaded the album immediately.
| Cygnatti Trust me, once you do, you'll never look back. :] cataloging ratings is infinitely more comprehensive there than on here.
| Cygnatti dude you should really consider getting an rym! :]
| YakNips so good tho. that closer is perfect
| YakNips oh wtf its more than 2 songs
| GmemberKills I just really appreciate you even taking the time to listen and its a plus to hear that you enjoy it too. I definitely poured a lot of time and emotion into it. If there is any music you want me to check out i'd be glad to hear it.
| YakNips never heard barn owl but yea i actually really enjoyed that EP and ill be listening to it more for sure, so thanks
| YakNips yea this higuma EP rules man. reminds me of A I A by grouper but with more sunny vibes
| GmemberKills thanks for checkin that white seeD. I appreciate it immensely
| YakNips oh man its great. some of my favorite ambient ive heard in a while
| YakNips only heard karma and it was pretty dope, more harsh than i was expecting tho
| Greem thanks :) can you rate it?
| Greem Hi! https://lifeless4.bandcamp.com/album/coma my new record is out, I hope you'll enjoy it.
| YakNips thanks babe those should be good. fingers crossed theyre not too harsh, looking for something more subdued
| YakNips hey can you rec me some soul-crushing bleak s*** that also has a strong sense of melody to it? i fear i may need it
| AnimalsAsSummit cool dood!! very pleased u gave it a listen. I'm actually working on something improvisational based atm with a few others, and that'll probably be out in a few months or so. ill be sure to give u da link ;)
| Jots it's typical cloud rat, but maybe a bit more noise in the mix and pretty pissed. guess there's not a ton to say after only one spin but i'll def come back to it
| Jots what do you think of dat new cloud rat?
| PunchedPeach72 Those two who 1'd dodencvnt made accounts just to bring down the score bc they cant appreciate trve audiobook avant-garde post-nordic chants black metal ******** early electronics kvltmetal post-crust-**** powerviolence pre-blackened **** metal primitive pagan noise soundtrack to satan
| Relinquished just ALWAYS work hard and earnestly bro that's what I tell everyone. I'm fairly young (25) but I consider myself to live more fully than most cuz I always worked hard at everything.
| Relinquished bro let me tell you a secret: I hang out with CoL sometimes, I actually helped curate a show back in Stockholm for them. was able to get it done thru connections and living near the area. I fly from Sweden to big fests like Psycho. I'm hangin out with some of Old Man Gloom before their set and I'm psyched for the amazing lineup
| Phlegm new /f (susan balmar) woooooooo https://pmct.bandcamp.com/album/pq-c
| Phlegm this is sounding beautiful man, thanks a lot! i'll compile a few recs for you over the weekend ~
| Astral Abortis Already very familiar with the band and not interested in recommendations, thanks
| CapnJizz Thanks man. This looks like something I'd dig.
| CapnJizz get over it bud. maybe you should take some more notes from the transcendentalism masters aka liturgy
| Jots i think you put La Stazione on one of your lists so i figured ... but ya.
| Jots it's actually whatever haha, but peep it regardless i guess. if i stumble across anything worthwhile i'll throw it your way. a little birdy told me Herbert Distel has some sort of new compilation coming out which you might be into
| Jots https://glisteningexamples.bandcamp.com/album/all-this-trouble-for-nothing
| Hyperion1001 awesome, sounds like gas without the rhythms. thanks for the heads up.
| Phlegm Mmmmm I love the use of that Koto in the first track! Floors me every time! And cool cheers I'll add that one to the list ~
| SillyCaringRabbitPal okay i will try it later you can trust me in fact you can trust me and my entire gang of lawyers
| SillyCaringRabbitPal i want three lawyers this is a disgrace you are the most unprofessional person i have ever met in my shoutbox
| Phlegm Have you heard Vanessa Rossetto's Whole Stories? My fav from last year :-) what was yours?
| CapnJizz Where should one start when exploring musique concrete?
| StrangerofSorts ahh yes, thanks! The ones I've heard from them are great (expect maybe The Flashbulb - not sure about that one).Up for any recs yourself or have you already got enough to listen to? (:
| YakNips yea thats pretty dope, dont listen to a lot of experimental classical type stuff but i should
| Phlegm looks great man! will do - i just found this gem from last year https://dauw.bandcamp.com/album/if-you-remember-me-then-i-dont-care-if-everyone-else-forgets
| TheBarber Yup seen/loved just about all of these (Antonioni being an all-time fav too) and should probably go see The Killing asap, 60's is my favorite year as well as the 90's and it's atmosphere; cheers for the recs, for the 60's I'd also suggest Marketa Lazarova (unbelievable medieval epic and chaotic movie poem) , Chronicle Of A Summer, Zazie Dans Le Metro, Daisies, Dolce Vita (duh), Funeral Parade Of Roses and Eros Massacre (the last two are Japanese New Wave: experimental sensual=fab)
| Phlegm without a doubt! have you heard any of his stuff prior as Heat Wave, Deep Magic or Olympus Mons? All great work! Also the Genesis Hull mixtape he did alongside Duppy Gun last year was interesting as well
| Phlegm yeah, i was in love with everything Alex Gray related early last year - he was my favorite artist!
| Hyperion1001 beckett has some amazing stuff, waiting for godot is one of those works of art that can make you rethink your entire perspective. if you like beckett youll like pynchon, very dense and heavy but full of some of the best prose youll ever read.
| Hyperion1001 i go to university of south carolina, im actually graduating in about a week. recently ive been reading a lot of thomas pynchon stuff, my favorite so far is gravity's rainbow.
| Hyperion1001 Yeah I'm actually an English major and a film studies minor so music, literature, and film are all things I love discussing. Great list too btw.
| Hyperion1001 thanks man! havent seen you post around here much but feel free to message me any time, talking about music is my favorite thing to do.
| TheBarber anyways I'll probs end up watching streets of shame since I dig jap cinema it's got a nice Criterion Bluray release I believe so hey why not?
| TheBarber No worries I saw Bunuel's Chien Andalou and Age D'Or and love them (btw if you dig the short-lived surreal cinema then give Man Ray, Maya Deren and Eventually Fernand Léger a try) my reserves really come from early talking cinema until the 60's. When talkies came a massive wall of reality came in that was sound (wich ingrained movies in a limited "easy" reality for quite some time before being used smartly imo not to mention it made filmmaking a lot heavier to handle)
| TheBarber All in all I have many issues with with the pre 60's talking cinema, extremely rough even though there are a few raw diamonds
| TheBarber Ha K! Have only seen Ugetsu by Mizoguchi and even though there were some brill sequences (on the river or everything surrounding the ghost woman) I could barely engage myself in it
| Flugmorph dude apply the new voting point system to your votes!
| YakNips sounds cool, do u know where i can listen?
| Phlegm Cheers! Glad to see you're enjoying some of the releases! There'll be some more going up tonight ££££ what have you been digging lately?
| AnimalsAsSummit thanks a lot for the shoutout on jaded !! im really glad u enjoyed the album
| Artuma yeah looks a little better. just leave space between the paragraphs, makes the reading a lot more pleasant
| Jots https://glacialmovements.bandcamp.com/album/zastrugi - you'd probably really like this.
| demigod! that was great. nice and foreboding. I actually need more classical/jazz music, barely scratched the surface of either. but i do love what little I've heard. if you could point me in the right direction at all, i'd appreciate that a ton (especially jazz)
| demigod! but seriously, rec me something good
| YakNips that kodyak EP is pretty dope, that modern day babylon sample on the last song threw me for a ****ing loop lol
| YakNips thank u, i will!!! looks interesting
| Jots https://lostsaltbloodpurges.bandcamp.com
| Jots this Voids album I just reviewed is excellent btw, highly recommend it
| Jots lol some of the new soundoffs/ratings. a bunch of stuff I added to the database. idk, it's cool to see someone branching out into that sorta thing
| Jots you're just on fire lately
| Jots cool to see you enjoyed joanne robertson, glad to see it getting some love. any upcoming releases you know of that you feel like sharing?
| Phlegm cool taste man, those Drumm albums are remarkable
| Atari No problem, I actually just got into classical a few weeks back and now I'm addicted. And no I haven't heard him but something tells me I should put him on my radar!
| RoyalImperialGuard http://stworz.bandcamp.com/album/c-po-yznych-ziemiachPolish folk/black metal
| SCREAM! Yeah I don't listen to much of that other than the really obvious stuff like Cream, Zep, Deep Purple, etc. Kind of an obvious rec but if you haven't listened to Rush yet you definitely should. They're early stuff (especially Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres) is a great mix of hard rock with prog
| SCREAM! Yeah I did, I love Camel. They didn't make it past wave 1 though all three albums got clobbered by King Crimson. Prog rock is my second fave genre after metal so I know the "big" bands and a fair bit of smaller ones
| puntugruhm i try to keep up. i looked at your prog rock battle, and noticed you didnt put up any camel. check them out if you havent.
| SCREAM! thanks man. Looked at it quickly and I knew a lot of the albums on it. All great stuff, nice to get a new user that knows his BM
| SCREAM! Zoat-Aon - Star Autopsy and Aghast - Hexerei Im Zwielicht der Finsternis. You should've kept the lists up man, I was going to check out a couple of your recs!
