  • ComeToDaddy Come To Life and Metalingus would probably be the best places to start with them if you like riffing. They're both pretty simple and really fun to play

  • ComeToDaddy For alt-rock, I found Alter Bridge excellent for learning. They have a whole variety of styles and difficulty levels on guitar, and are a very accessible band. You'll probably dig them (:I haven't played many of the bands in your ratings except for ABR and Sikth. ABR are great for developing alternate picking technique but aren't that fun to riff to, the reason they're fun is their lead work but it's really not a good place to start working on that haha. Iron Maiden would be a better bet

  • ComeToDaddy That's totally fair, how solid are you on the guitar and what kind of music do you enjoy playing the most? I'll send you a few of my faves (:

  • AlexKzillion Yeah, Straight Jacket Fashion is amazing.
    October 7 07:36 PM
  • Titan well, with Rush, Iron Maiden, and Pink Floyd being my 3 favorites, i'd suggest Moving Pictures, The Number Of The Beast, and Wish You Were Here......i don't see those on your ratings and they are 3 of the greatest records ever recorded imo....

  • Angelboros Oh, no prob at all, man. Just always remember to like whatever you want and detest whatever you please.

  • Tunaboy45 No problem, best thing you can do is take it on the chin and move on.

  • Tunaboy45 It's not that it's a poorly written review, not at all. It's that you seem to talk more about the people who listen to the music than the music itself, and the stereotypes you've thrown in have just rubbed people the wrong way. I say just keep the review up and learn from it. I get the style you were going for, more lighthearted than usual, but this time it just didn't work. If you ever want me to proofread anything just post it in the thread and let me know in my shoutbox.

  • Gameofmetal Ummm I never really cared for the songs I've heard. Used to mix them up with Opeth for some stupid reason back in the day tho lol

  • Jots sure, I'll check it in an hour or so, gotta make some breakfast
    March 28 01:04 PM
  • Jots re: applying for contrib - you gotta start reviewing new releases. it's cool that you're drawing attention to fairly unknown older stuff (a good way to start), but you eventually gotta cover new material if you plan on getting promoted.
    March 19 02:45 AM
  • Snake. gotta wait until this june or next january man
    March 19 02:26 AM
  • Gameofmetal Oh yeah, forgot to say earlier but I'm all finished with it.
    March 17 06:40 PM
  • Gameofmetal Soon as I have a chance I'll give it a look.
    March 17 01:39 PM
  • Jots no prob
    March 14 12:16 PM
  • Jots hey, so I like the change you made to your intro. I'd suggest cutting a couple of the earlier sentences out so the 'sleeping giant' thing doesn't get too long-winded. you sorta over-explain it a bit IMO. other than that, I think the review looks good, but I'll read it again later
    March 13 02:08 PM
  • Jots don't have time this evening but i'll try and take a look first thing in the morning
    March 12 04:32 AM
  • Gameofmetal Alright, sweet
    March 7 02:42 AM
  • Gameofmetal Yep, I'll give er a look in a few minutes.
    March 7 01:57 AM
  • Gameofmetal Yeah I think you'd be better off with just leads or solos. Mini solos seems like a confusing term since it's not really used around here at least.
    February 21 06:24 PM
  • Gameofmetal Finished. I had a question though that I didn't think best to leave in the feedback. In a lot of your reviews you reference "mini solos" in the guitar parts. Do you literally mean just very short solos? Even if they're short I would think you could just call them solos, but I also thought you might be referring to guitar leads as mini solos or something.
    February 21 06:10 PM
  • Gameofmetal I don't know that I'll have time to get to it immediately but I'll find time for it in the next few hours.
    February 18 09:37 PM
  • CSProgGuy91 Hey, man! I saw where you left a comment on my 5FDP album review. Yes, it was my first review and after looking over it again, I realize that I could have made the review look and sound a lot more professional. I appreciate the constructive criticism and I will gladly keep it in mind when I do another review. By the way, thank you for complimenting my guitar! It's my baby
    February 18 01:55 PM
  • Tunaboy45 Well I'm flattered that you'd ask me haha, I do sometimes proofread. I'll check it out now!
    February 17 09:14 AM
  • Gameofmetal Yeah sure, I'll get right on that
    February 15 11:16 PM
  • Jots Won't have time for the next week I'm afraid but afterwards I'll try to look over whatever you'd like
    February 15 05:29 AM
  • riffariffic7 Not a bad song. I definitely feel the Nickelback-vibe you mentioned though, especially after the chorus where they go "whoa-oh-whoa-oh". I enjoy the sound of it, and the vocals are nice and varied, but it feels a bit odd to me, as if they simply made the track to try and gain some accidental views from people thinking that it belongs to the 50 Shades of Grey movie. :D
    February 7 10:44 PM
  • Gameofmetal Np, I'd still recommend that you utilize the proofreading thread so you don't have to edit after the review has already been posted. If you get someone like Johnnyonthespot to do it who is really good, they can give you pointers that will help your general review style in the future.
    February 7 05:07 PM
  • Gameofmetal yep I'll take a look
    February 4 11:54 PM
  • Gameofmetal Hey in the proofreading thread the review was alreadyd so your link doesn't work and you actually need to fully post the review as a comment in the thread. Look at how the others do it so you know what you're doing. I'll give it a proofread when you put it up.
    February 3 04:44 PM
  • Gameofmetal http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=634174you can reach the community forums on that top bar below the sputnik logo(the one that says community obviously). there are three areas, the default page is for music and miscellaneous subjects, but if you go to the one not called "politics" then you have both the For the Meds thread and the proofreading thread.

  • metalheadrunner I forgot to add it up there, but Linkin Park is another one of my favorite bands. I know most people think they suck, but their lyrics have helped me through a lot. Just don't hate on them on my page, I guess, haha. Other than that, I'm fifteen, i'm a long long distance runner, and i like metal, punk, hard rock, nu-metal, alt-metal, post-hardcore, djent, death metal, alternative, etc
