  • cylinder Ah for sure, that?s fair haha. Thanks for giving it a listen. Woooo that BLJ album is a monolith! Yeah pretty sure you?ll dig that one haha
    September 5 12:04 AM
  • cylinder Oh, gotcha, my bad for assuming! Glad you dug the SC album, yeah that thing is insane m/
    August 25 12:35 AM
  • cylinder I gather that split wasn't your bag exactly XD. all good, i know it's ridiculous haha. you might be interested in my most recent list, lotta good noise on there. also, you know Viscera Infest? I think I meant to rec that earlier but I forgot. They're a slightly gory but more deathgrind-leaning band you might dig. I thought their last album Teratoma was fantastic

  • cylinder Blast Addict is the label, the band is Mankind's Devastation. I do like some more straight goregrind, yeah. Sulfuric Cautery and Last Days of Humanity are prob my faves. The new SC album is ****in amazing, just came out like a couple weeks ago. Glad you dug those, man! Now time for the main event haha, a 3-band split I found recently (that also came out this year). Goregrind, noisecore, and 'gorenoise wall.' Some real kvlt s***. I was so happy when I found it lol.
    August 5 08:10 PM
  • cylinder Gotcha. Yeah, both noisecore and gorenoise are pretty obscure, not always easy to find, especially the releases with staying power lol. Here's a few gorenoise primers: https://blastaddict.bandcamp.com/album/mankinds-devastation-s-t-ep / https://gonococcus.bandcamp.com/album/sessions-1-6 / https://gorebubbleproductions.bandcamp.com/album/rotten-esophagogastroduodenoscopy-preparation / lmk when youve had a taste of those, then you'll be ready for the main event hah
    August 1 07:11 PM
  • cylinder Heh, thanks for the compliment man. I do sift through a lot of trash to find the gems, lol. So it's nice to be appreciated XD You're right about PIT, def a bit more understated but I really dig how trippy it is in its own way. Gets under your skin slowly rather than beating you over the head. Theres a time and place for both tho, haha. Hey, do you mess with noisecore and/or gorenoise at all?
    July 30 07:08 PM
  • cylinder Got another one for ya, thought it'd be an interesting counterpoint. This one is much more intentional and devious. https://whitecentipedenoise.bandcamp.com/album/time-hole
    July 28 04:01 AM
  • cylinder So glad you enjoyed it as much as I did! Like a knife indeed! Those ambient parts in ?Undercutting,? right? And then it?s just right-smack-back to the assault. Whiplash to the max lol. Very happy to know another noise appreciator on here : ]

    December 3 08:35 PM
  • BMDrummer lmao i appreciate that, i was actually listening to bits of that album on acid recently and it was quite a ride. got a new album coming out by the end of the year btw, should share some similarities with that stuff but idk off the top of my head how much
    December 3 07:57 AM
  • DavidYowi Yeah it reminds me of early YT where there would be so many anime action scene compilations set to like Disturbed or Linkin Park. They seem fun to make
    December 2 12:13 AM
  • Lord(e)Po)))ts It's like the epitome of what I like in hip-hop
    December 1 01:41 AM
  • Colton Lol maybe someday soon but I was thinking I would listen to some OutKast tonight, never heard their stuff
    November 30 11:56 PM
  • BMDrummer oh man, that stuff is so old now! glad you're still digging it though! i only pop in here once in a while now, warms my heart that i'm missed by somebody hehe. sick taste, hope you're doing well!
    November 30 06:19 AM
  • SandwichBubble Right, right. My memory's bad. | A lot of bands rarely find success without marketing and the backing of a decent label. They don't seem to be all that concerned with where they're at though, so you shouldn't worry. I'm sure it's by design that they're staying underground.
    November 26 02:52 PM
  • SandwichBubble Great band, thanks for recommending them (I forget where, but I'm sure it was in the comments of a list).
    November 25 09:43 PM
  • Minushuman24 hey man, I'm sorry for going away for so long. Just couldn't take anything anymore, I took some uppers that help me feel human, but I'm sorry for leaving you hanging
    November 19 06:49 PM
  • evilford You're not wrong man I agree!
    November 18 04:48 PM
  • evilford nice! Yeah our problem is probably one of my favorite sludge albums
    November 18 01:54 AM
  • evilford have u heard iron monkey? Probably the best band that isnt on spotify lol. Their first two albums are so good
    November 18 01:28 AM
  • evilford I've heard some Indian yeah they're pretty good. Thou is ****ing amazing. Still gotta check the new 1, u heard it?
    November 18 01:26 AM
  • evilford Damn dude that's some dark s*** lol. Wish I could say I enjoyed that :-(
    November 18 12:50 AM
  • evilford also assuck! I have never heard of them. Should i check?
    November 18 12:39 AM
  • evilford oh u said "band(s)" lol. Uhm also corrupted, man idk this is hard. I'd definitely say godflesh and corrupted are up there tho
    November 18 12:37 AM
  • evilford Godflesh probs
    November 18 12:30 AM
  • Drifter Haha yeah that was fun. I am doing superb. Just jamming music and playing Skyrim. How are you doing dude?
    November 15 03:51 AM
  • Pheromone also saw you're into the lounge lizards - listen to that marvin pontiac album i reviewed. I won't give the twist away but it's in your best interests.
    November 13 06:46 PM
  • Pheromone chill and sad is exactly what i live for hell yeah - also i agree, women are one of those groups who wear their influences on their sleeves but somehow remain insanely unique. I always thought it was sort of ridiculous how much they got compared to deerhunter back in the day as I've always felt the latter also wear their influences on their sleeves but suffer for it.
    November 13 06:29 PM
  • Pheromone also the gang of four influence on the heavier tracks on this is crazy - never noticed it much with public strain
    November 13 06:15 PM
  • Pheromone listened to cindy lee briefly - i actually never really got into any of the post-women projects. cindy lee in particular because of it's ole-timey leanings but i will definitely give it another try in due time given how much im digging these tracks.
    November 13 06:12 PM
  • Pheromone what do you think of the new women release x
    November 13 05:38 PM
  • Lord(e)Po)))ts Thanks for the kind words man. And yeah lol I love Louis Cole's solo stuff too, so much fun. His videos give me life
    November 12 08:07 AM
  • Lord(e)Po)))ts Hey man, i know we are in a pandemic and money is tight for everyone but I put together a gofundme for minushuman. I dont know if you saw his list but he suffered a pretty brutal loss this weekend and I thought maybe we could all chip in a few bucks and help him out with groceries or rent or whatever this month while he works through this tough time. If you can donate a few bucks and share this with some other users to help spread the word that would be awesome: https://gf.me/u/y743c5
    November 10 03:50 AM
  • Lord(e)Po)))ts no, i have only heard a song or two from westside gunn i don't think i liked it enough to explore more
    November 6 04:14 AM
  • porcupinetheater Just jammed the first Pinback disc, hot damn. Like Slint and Built to Spill had a baby, and that baby got into the Robitussin. Love it
    October 26 05:42 PM
  • robertsona songwriting is "elementary" in a lot of ways but he's getting at some great stuff to me
    October 23 08:24 PM
  • robertsona https://jacetms.bandcamp.com/ i'd be curious if you'd be into this. I dont know how to compare things to things anymore but I thought briefly of unwound but way more lo fi and it's an album no person on this earth has heard. it also has long skits that you can skip, and some you "can't" (i.e., they're part of an actual track)
    October 23 08:24 PM
  • porcupinetheater Hell yeah, that 90s indie rock thing is sweet, any band got MM and BSS in the recc?d artists is a pretty good sign. Ain?t gotten around to Pinback yet, hop straight in on a jam. From what you?ve heard is just going chronological a pretty safe bet for them?
    October 21 10:58 PM
  • botb Haha no problem! My buddy just showed them to me the other day. So intense.
    October 21 10:28 PM
  • porcupinetheater Dude, right? It's the Sput cycle. One of three right right wingers shows up and starts up some bad faith argument, and then doubles down once rellik shows up to be their hype man. It's the pattern sure as seasons change
    October 21 08:12 PM
  • porcupinetheater Hell yes! It's such an incredibly consistent discog, glad you're feeling likewise! Can't wait to bump a thread with you every so often and then have it die immediately cause Sput don't give a ass bout The Drones!
    October 13 04:57 PM
  • JefferyBigglestein i liked lil b until i found out he had a foot fetish and perved on underage girls. also i used based first.
    October 11 03:00 PM
  • DaHound Hey dude you wanna join a discord chat with some people from here? It's with a few older and less active users like 50iL, TVC15, MrAlexK, OnionBubs, and CalculatingInfinity but it's a good time and I think it would be cool to have you in it.
    October 9 12:13 AM
  • Lord(e)Po)))ts haha damn thanks man glad you've been enjoying all of this... you'll hear the original non-band versions of a couple of the man-feelings on Lily. It's a lot chiller and more minimal than Fear of the Drum but it's also probably the most personal alb i've made. Hope you like it too
    October 5 12:31 AM
  • Veks Lol don't worry my friend. I'm Portuguese but I lived in Spain so I understood your message perfectly. I'm just not great at writing Spanish :p. Que tengas un gran dia mi amigo e gracias por la mensagen. :D
    October 3 05:36 PM
  • DDDeftoneDDD Ahahah I bet you were thinking "these Spanish dudes are dumb af! They write like neandarthals!"
    October 3 05:35 PM
  • DDDeftoneDDD I tried to put the "better" symbol next to Portugal. Ahah anyway if you want a worthy anaal album its Vanitas
    October 3 05:11 PM
  • DDDeftoneDDD Great, cause I am not offended...confusing Spanish with Portuguese is a classic. Btw Portugal
    October 3 05:10 PM
  • DDDeftoneDDD Waaaa? I m viscerally offended since its Portuguese bro!
    October 3 05:05 PM
  • TheSpirit that is badass. great label to have permanently marked on your bod!
    October 1 05:31 PM
  • loveisamixtape southeast solidarity my friend
    September 30 06:30 PM
  • Essence i was too vague, i mean BADNEW
    September 27 07:49 PM
  • Essence yo that's someone's weird alt 100% certain. like nothing in their taste suggests that they would like or would want to listen or have actually listened to the Proscription album I gave a soundoff to, so the rando 1 rating seems more like an intent to troll
    September 27 07:48 PM
  • DDDeftoneDDD Yes, happy you re digging Deftones. Check my last list bro. Give your feedback there
    September 27 01:42 PM
  • Lord(e)Po)))ts Haha me not posting as much generally means I'm managing to be somewhat productive so it's always a good thing. I've been just starting up a clothing design business as a little side hustle the last month. How you doin?
    September 26 10:22 PM
  • Lord(e)Po)))ts i like this one too but it's a lot more bombastic https://solarmasscollective.bandcamp.com/album/fear-of-the-drum-and-the-red-robe-son
    September 26 07:29 PM
  • Lord(e)Po)))ts sure, https://lambsbreath.bandcamp.com/album/man-feelings is the full band alb i was talking about in that thread, https://solarmasscollective.bandcamp.com/album/lily-the-wilt is one of my solo albs that a couple of the songs on that first alb originated from
    September 26 07:29 PM
  • xxm You?re welcome.
    September 24 10:57 PM
  • xxm I love your musical taste.
    September 21 07:20 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell yo just saw your post in that thread; unsane most defs go hard. i need to jam them more, gonna get more of their discog under my belt
    September 18 04:57 PM
  • R4zor3dge That was a hell of an argument on that thread with Gyro lol
    September 15 04:20 AM
  • LeddSledd Gave Illinois by Sufjan a spin, super sweet! Thanks again for those folk recs, imma get around to more of those soon
    September 13 07:02 AM
  • porcupinetheater Whole thing's on Youtube, iirc. ****ing excellent piece. Footage is from some Swedish TV people that came over to record in the 60s and 70s, but the footage resurfaced and was editorialized more recently, and there's some excellent stuff with Stokely Carmichael and Angela Davis in both public activist speaking work and smaller moments.
    September 11 06:31 AM
  • porcupinetheater Have you watched The Black Power Mixtape?
    September 11 04:35 AM
  • porcupinetheater Jesus, there are powerful ****ing speeches. So many white people are acting like the Civil Rights movement is past tense. Everything here you could pretty much copy down and say today and it wouldn?t need even a ****ing second to translate for the time.
    September 11 04:33 AM
  • JefferyBigglestein I am doin well a bit busy but still have some time to lurk sput, sadly the days of being stuck in my house alone with nothing to do besides IT work is over.
    September 10 11:26 PM
  • Ryus sweeet yeah ive heard a few of those but ill check those that i havent. thanks man
    September 9 11:42 PM
  • Ryus oh word. i just meant pv recs in general tho, haha grind works too. just in need of some of that high octane punx
    September 9 06:00 PM
  • Ryus damn i guess i gotta dig deeper into pv because idk if ive ever heard hip hop samples in a pv album. actually do you have any pv recs for me? preferably not the super-basic ones bc i think ive heard most of those
    September 9 05:28 PM
  • Ryus haha thanks. yeah that plutocracy album is crazy, never in my life did i think i'd hear an album with both hip hop and pv/grindcore elements lol
    September 9 05:06 PM
  • porcupinetheater Also, jammed A Ass Pocket of Whiskey and it is gonna take a *few* listens to get a handle on it, so close to traditional, but a ****ing continent away. Know on one-off that it?s awesome, though
    September 9 07:56 AM
  • porcupinetheater Hell yeah, Love. Not super tech savvy so my soc presence is wee, but lay a few spectral breadcrumbs in the interwebs from time to time. Not keen on broadcasting here given some of the user base, but hit me at tsheridan94@gmail.com, I?ll link you there
    September 9 06:20 AM
  • porcupinetheater Right? Taking the lack of a ban as a win, given Sowing?s resident right wing ?centrist? mod credentials. Site?s a joke in a lot of ways, but can?t quit with some real swell users (with you on the short list ofc) and the best Kayo Dot circle jerks on the web
    September 8 06:29 PM
  • dedex Yeah the lush production is what hooked me first, then the lyrics finished the job. Nice of you to spread the word btw, love seein' a Belgian homie getting some recognition
    September 8 06:01 PM
  • dedex yo man just saw you rated Swing - Marabout a 4 and I'm super happy about that
    September 8 05:33 PM
  • DDDeftoneDDD dude. shoot at me some non metal 4 plus release from 2020....I'm afraid my year's list will be just abrasive insane s*** LMAO
    September 8 01:07 PM
  • porcupinetheater Sweet circus metaphor there, really tracks cause dude?s just blatantly lion. Just that mindset is so disgusting, and then to try to feign intellectual superiority by pretending he?s somehow enlightened beyond emotion with an entire argument of fear-mongering, fallacious racism. Keep fighting the good fight out there and taking Neckbeard discourse target practice here, much love for you, Mill
    September 8 07:16 AM
  • Essence amen to the effort thing. you know the wild thing is i've been around this site longer than probably than a handful of people at this point and the sad part is that he didn't used to be that way. or rather, he wasn't as public about it. maybe it was always there and today's society has made him feel safer in expressing those thoughts. wherever it came from, though, s***'s crazy entrenched
    September 8 06:49 AM
  • Essence you have legendary patience
    September 8 05:20 AM
  • DDDeftoneDDD Hi committed friend...listen to the latest Martin Grech and feel The Deftones, The Contortionist, Tom Yorke and Jeff Buckley (to name a few) but so damn cool and original a the same time.
    September 7 01:27 PM
  • Darius The Imposter Im diggin that million dead band
    September 6 10:05 PM
  • DaHound Also dogg food took a long time to grow for me tbh but the production is just god tier. Some bomb azz isnt one of my favorites but the beat alone gets me shook every time. Something about it is just mind blowing to me.
    September 5 06:31 PM
  • DaHound AYYYYY glad you dug 909 boyz so much. That album is so special for me. It?s so unique too like there?s something about the production that is just different. I can?t describe it. The rappers have so much charm too like they arent the most skilled but theyve got character and good voices. I especially always liked freeze. Fav tracks?

  • porcupinetheater Side note, apparently don't have any Funkadelic rated, what the ****?
    September 4 02:13 AM
  • porcupinetheater Mate, Right? I get the thought that guitars have been a focal point of popular music long enough that it?s easier to slip into irrelevant, rote territory (all you Greta Van Fleet?s of the World represent), but as long as production techniques evolve, so will guitar. And even beyond that, anyone bringing their unique stamp to the table (regardless of instrument) is still going to stand out. There still aint anything that sounds like Maggot Brain almost 50 years on. God, music?s cool
    September 4 02:03 AM
  • porcupinetheater Hell yeah!! Here Come the Lies is truly something ****ing else, the way every song takes this winding blues path into just totally nuts swirling sonic abuse. So stoked you dig it! Gaz never really does the same thing twice guitar wise album to album, but he?s always finding new ways to push it totally novel directions. Who says guitar rock?s dead?

  • porcupinetheater Please drop recs literally any time, by the way
    August 28 06:00 AM
  • porcupinetheater Nurse with Wound is a go to stoned out the mind band when I want just be non-verbal and go ?Woah,? but it does it so well. Sounds nothing alike, but if you can roll with Royal Trux and computer error tones, you can roll with Nurse. Also total aside but I?m free-associating, really think you?d love Nina Nastasia?s Run to Ruin record. Criminally under jammed here. On Teasing blows my mind, the way she has the cello/violin mimic the story of the sea laughing at and swallowing the subject, no words
    August 28 05:49 AM
  • porcupinetheater No doubt, you know what the **** youre talk about - got taste like an exec chef. And yeah honestly the whole Drones discog is impeccable, gun to head favorite band
    August 28 05:12 AM

  • MaryBabko I listen to a massive variety. Tbh I mainly listen to pop at the moment. The metal stuff was primarily from a few years ago
    August 20 08:43 PM
  • MaryBabko Hey, in answer to your question, yet my battles are all online. I am not linking them though because I dont really want this site coming up in my next clash. Sorry man, but I'd say youd probably have seen me a couple of times if you're even vaguely aware of King of the Dot
    August 20 07:49 PM
  • SlothcoreSam Lol, sorry that was not my intention. Saw you had Bad Brains 5'd, so thought you might dig this band, as an article I read, Bad Brains were giving them a lot of praise. I agree that the singing is a bit bland, but the guitar work and drumming is great. Don't Shoot is my favorite by them so far. I will check Wacko today, never heard them before. Thanks mate.
    August 20 03:24 PM
  • porcupinetheater I ain?t, on either, but literally always down for anything punk blues. I?ll check that s*** out, stat, thanks for the heads up, Love! Here?s to keeping the fuzz pedal ON for the A minor pentatonic scale
    August 20 08:09 AM
  • porcupinetheater Yo, if you?re inclined for good tunes, think you?d dig The Drones? Wait Long By the River... (****in? etc.) album

  • DDDeftoneDDD **** YEAH THOSE GUYS ARE THE s***!!!!! Sorry I'm drunk.
    August 17 04:07 PM
  • LeddSledd Came from the Folklore thread, I would also be interested in lofi/indie/folk whatever recs. I have no idea where to start bc I've never gotten into it and that realm of music has always seemed a bit bland/samey to me (excepting a few albums), but I'd love to be proven wrong.
    August 17 01:34 AM
  • Lord(e)Po)))ts Geriatric menopause
    August 16 11:52 PM
  • BlondeGuardian First of all, Cracklin' Rosie is indeed great. Bob Dylan; classic. I liked the Elliott Smith album despite it having about 150 less BPM than I'm used to; it's very haunting. Even the albums I wasn't personally crazy about were definitely interesting; the Daniel Johnston album ****ing floored me. Anyway, thanks again for the recs!
    August 16 10:50 PM
  • BlondeGuardian Thanks for the recommendations man, I appreciate it. I'll give them a listen and get back to you in the foreseeable future
    August 16 04:25 PM
  • DDDeftoneDDD If you catch gazey Deftonish s*** in brootal Afterbirth you got a new fan. I ll jump on Nico with my girls asap
    August 16 12:57 PM
  • DDDeftoneDDD Ahah woooo that Cryptic Shift rate is awesome...such as the album...honnestly my 4.5 is because during 2 weeks, I looked at the cover and only wanted to listen to it again... every time that happens I think its 4.5 worthy lol
    August 16 12:45 PM
  • DDDeftoneDDD What should I do with her? Sure it seems nice...

    August 12 08:18 PM
  • JayEnder Dude hell yes! Thanks for stoppin by. I'm kicking myself for never getting into Sufjan's music before. Illinoise hit me just right last night when I was feeling hopelessly depressed. Michigan is also close to a 5 its that freaking liberating man. His entire discog was a treat to discover, and probably gonna be the only music I listen to for the next few days. Maybe some Microphones too bc Phil's music been hittin lately. I need to try out Pink Moon again man.
    August 11 11:39 PM
  • DaHound Yeah no pressure I just know so much I wanna share it with everyone haha
    August 3 08:34 PM
  • DaHound Tha Dogg Pound - Dogg Food... Big Moe - City of Syrup... 909 Boyz - Royal Flush. All sound fairly different but are all top notch.
    August 3 08:06 PM
  • DaHound It is good.. I?m just gonna keep my rating at a 4.5 because at different times it?s anywhere from a 3.5 to a 5 but 4.5 feels good. And yeah I recently bought seal?s first 2 because I had just seen that he was very well regarded which I had no idea of. I had always thought he was seen as some sappy ballad singer (which tbf I love those) but yeah he?s outstanding. Let me browse your ratings to see what you?ve heard and I?ll rec some things..
    August 3 08:02 PM
  • DaHound Yeah I mean he?s my favorite artist (just look at my drifter ratings lol) but talking about him to some is a bad idea lol. Anyway would you be interested in some g funk recs? Also tpab is a 4.5 i am very bipolar in regards to that album I have no idea why
    August 3 07:09 PM
  • DaHound Hey awesome R. Kelly ratings. Glad you can see past the allegations and see he?s a great musician
    August 3 06:43 PM
  • robertsona different drummer on that one though
    July 31 12:55 AM
  • robertsona they're an amazing live band I saw them 7 times in 2019 I think and once in 2020. on that same soundcloud account is another recording, longer, of their show as part of a residency at the brooklyn venue baby's all right, which is a much uhhhhh looser and more aggressive and overall weirder show. nobody claps after the first song lmao. great great band
    July 31 12:54 AM
  • robertsona https://soundcloud.com/fistpumpboatdad/gustaf-the-broadway-1112019 this is a (****ing) iphone voice memo of gustaf i recorded with rosie on drums. it sounds bad, but I think it's good drumming from the beginning, but 9:45 is also a highlight
    July 30 09:35 PM
  • Space Jester I dunno if you have Facebook or Instagram or whatever but yea Seizures ended in a really bad way, might wanna read up on it
    July 20 03:00 AM
  • DaHound Yeah they kinda are but both tpab and illmatic are 3.5s that?s still not a bad score. In the case of illmatic I just don?t find the rapping very engaging or the beats to be very great for the most part. I hold it in higher regard than tpab though and it was a very special album when first getting into rap (i also once had it 5d) but it seemed like once i got the cd the allure kind of grew off. Not sure why. I still think fondly of it from time to time but the spark is mostly lost.
    July 13 01:20 AM
  • DaHound Btw it wasn?t on purpose! Just kinda happened over time with Kendrick as a whole. I really dislike all his different voices. I think they are really distracting and unnecessary a lot of the time but that?s just me
    July 12 04:48 PM
  • DaHound Tbh, can I be totally tbh... I have even longer been grown out of illmatic :( Unlike Kendrick though I still really like Nas in general and love other albums of his. My top 2 are It Was Written and God?s Son
    July 12 04:43 PM
  • DaHound Hey thanks for not going in on me in the TPAB thread lol. Also I see we?ve interacted before on my previous account drifter lol. I guess we argued but I hardly even remember it happening haha. I?m always getting myself into bad situations on that thread I guess
    July 11 09:34 PM
  • GamamJ I am just here to agree about the ridicolousness of BADNEW?s 1?s, what the hell.
    March 7 02:54 PM
  • Dunpeal you are 100% correct about BADNEW. His 1's make no sense
    March 1 06:44 AM
  • Drifter Dudeee I forgot I even rec'd you that glad you liked it. Check any of the others?
    April 16 07:43 PM
  • Doibhin69 Nah it's fine lol It's Emilia clarke
