| OmairSh Haha yeah man acting really energises me and is very creatively satisfying for me. Let's see how it goes :-D. Music listening wise it's been a mix of quite a few genres but Metal, Rock, Jazz, and Blues (really been in the mood over the past few months) probably dominate overall. I still enjoy prog but don't listen to it as much as I did years back, and I tend to gravitate back to the classics that I grew up on you know. What about you?
| OmairSh Hey dude, sorry for the late reply. Damn man, 4th grade reading level really shows how little the government genuinely cares about investing in education. Good that you're motivated and supporting those kids at least, that'll go a long way in their progress :-).
| OmairSh Regarding acting, I've loved entertaining people since I was like 9. Started performing on stage during undegrad and fell in love, the stage felt completely like home to me. I stopped performing for many many years and then started going to improv/acting classes in Toronto over a year ago which I was enjoying before covid ****ed it all up. I also was uploading stuff on my insta but haven't been in the mood recently. My dream would be doing it professionally. One can dream eh
| OmairSh Oh nicee, that's cool so your degree is in education? I respect teachers a lot man, it's a tough job and a big responsibility (for those that take it seriously of course). Good that you're doing something you enjoy at least, can't beat that. Dude I bought a guitar like 8 years back and quit in 4 days. I was intimidated again but the learning curve has been less steep than I feared, maybe all the additional years of music and air guitar helped haha
| Guess I one up'd you in terms of delayed responses ;-) (I normally do haha). Congrats on graduating man! That must be somewhat of a relief finally having the degree. How are you enjoying teaching? Is that something you were thinking of for a while? I'm good man, been keeping a bit busy at work, apart from that I FINALLY got an acoustic guitar a couple months back and have been practicing on and off, (after putting it off for a decade or so) and I do random acting videos as well (my first love)
| Mythodea I got a Psychology degree, and currently I'm studying Political Science and Sociology while also training in systemic psychotherapy. Whether I move academically, or follow a psychologist's path, I still don't know.
| Mythodea Yup, this time is s*** for studying anything... first year is solely online classes, and predictions don't look good for the second one, too... It's awesome you found a job, in these dire times, man. I'm glad for you! Look at us growing up and being responsible adults haha
| Mythodea It's been a crazy year, no doubt! I'm doing well, doing my master's now, but from the coziness of my girlfriend's flat (second lockdown, month #3). So you took a hiatus from music, huh? How was it? And how's life in general? So many questions, but it's been now, what, four years?
| OmairSh Nice dude, glad to hear you've been doing well in quarantine. Yeah I'm sure it's given you a lot more alone time than before, so more time to think things over. Haha yeah man, I was hunting again thanks to covid, but started a new job at a bank a couple of weeks ago, thankfully. What about yourself? And how come the music hiatus? Do you play instruments?
| OmairSh Yooo dude, someone's back from the dead. How've you been dude? How's surviving the quarantine coming along?
| JamieTwort His new one is really good, it's up there with the likes of Precis for me but a bit behind Lasted which will always be my favourite Benoit. Be sure to check out Hymnal and Temper when you get a chance too.
| JamieTwort No worries man. That's a shame, although that album has grown off me a little bit tbh, I actually prefer his Zugzwang for Fostex tape from earlier this year. Let me know your thoughts on the other 3 when you get around to them. Also have you heard the new Benoit album? He's gone back to his older singer/songwriter meets ambient style and it's up there with his best.
| JamieTwort In addition to the other ambient recs I gave you a little while ago, check out Ian William Craig - Centres. I think you'd dig.
| Friday13th Yeah you're right about them knocking his plans down. I would be okay with all of those except defund military. That one is life or death.
| Friday13th Gary Johnson is the ultimate compromise between left/right principles, so I don't see how he's like Sanders a sold out progressive. Erring on the side of liberty instead of authority is a welcome change. I think he would have a high approval rating and will shake things up almost as much as Trump.
| Friday13th Gary Johnson is good yeah I'd vote for him second
| Friday13th Trump is facing literally the same media bias and false accusations as Brexit supporters. Racist, fascist, xenophobic, you name it. Do you think 52% of the U.K. are those things? Please.
| Friday13th I'm voting for Trump. It's gonna be glorious just like Brexit.
| JamieTwort Here's some equally gorgeous and nostalgic ambient: Gimu - A Season in Your Soul, David Andree - In Streams, Ruhe - Easing
| JamieTwort Hey man, really glad you liked Sonnet so much. I'm a massive Benoit fan and consider him to be somewhere in my top 10 artists. As for recs, I'll have a think and get back to you later when I have more time to give you some well-considered ones rather than just some off the top of my head.
| Britch2tiger Much appreciated w/ your hospitality regarding on developing an ear for jazz. Hope to make jazz a larger part of my profile in a few months.
| Britch2tiger It's a genre I'm willing to expand upon, but I'm more concerned about finding "how" a good jazz album sounds. With my currently limited music history, most jazz I've heard from sound too similar for me to discern favorability.
| Britch2tiger I meant to find a reference from those that actually offer a balanced opinion regarding jazz, such as someone that could discern what qualities make for a "better" jazz music albums by comparison.
| Britch2tiger If you get the chance to respond, it would be most appreciated. As someone more affiliated and appreciative of jazz (from browsing your profile), are there ways to discern good jazz from bad jazz?
| Titan classless players and fans, damn
| Titan ahhh yes, you weren't around for the joe carter blast
| Titan i think the jays will win....potentially a truly shining moment for your young budding star on the mound.....looking forward to it
| Titan you gotta play the game.......we thought we had boston in game 7 of the alcs in 2004 as well, at yankee stadium, and lost
| BMDrummer i'm glad i finally checked coltrane after you told me to
| Titan i saw my yankees defeat oakland when we were down 0-2 in a best of 5......idk man, i think the window may have closed
| Titan I'm going for Texas or Chicago
| Titan Geddy Lee keeping a scorecard i see
| Titan sup kiddo.....jays are tough man, you got a good shot.....yanks gotta get by kuechel to earn a series with the royals.....not sure how i feel about it, we backed our asses in and don't deserve it
| Titan 'hows life as the leader of the AL east'.......you shouted me that on April 29!
| Lord(e)Po)))ts you made it sound like it was going to be a lot more poppy than it turned out to be and i actually found it to be very progressive so it really wasnt what i was expecting. you kind of hyped it as the pinnacle of 80's pop but to me it really wasnt that at all. something entirely different but really cool regardless. the 4/5 is off first listen so ill have to give more listens to give more sound criticisms tho
| Jethro42 haha yes I guess it took a dose of courage to approach the meds, but it's a part of their duties and it finally paid off. And yes, your review rules. It's done professionally. Keep up the good work!
| Jots the proper terminology would be asking them to "flag" your review
| Jots if you go to the site forum and to the "meds thread", you can ask them to make your review the default review and briefly explain your reasoning
| Snowdog808 I really liked his work with Miles Davis, but I have yet to hear a solo album of his.
| danielcardoso Hey man, thanks for the kind words. It's about the best pick I could've ever had, since I have Brazilian ascendence and will therefore listen to the album in a completely better mood. I have never heard any actual music by Joao Gilberto but he's massive in Brazilian culture, so I should love it.
| TheCrocodile Hope you like it, I really dig the music that these lunatics put out. Out of curiosity, is this your first time listening to a Current 93 album?
| Snowdog808 Yeah he is real incredible on piano, especially for an eleven year old, and sure does those bop standards a lot of justice. It will be cool to see what future albums he releases and if I will explore other jazz genres with his compositions.
| Snowdog808 Nice Joey Alexander dig Toronto. I'm surprised I had to add him to the database.
| Ryus that's awesome to hear dude, it's one of my favorites :]
| OmairSh Pretty much same old same old apart from that.
| OmairSh Thanks man. Yeah finding that first job is a bitch. Congrats on getting work yourself though, should be an interesting experience
| OmairSh Then you must definitely be feeling great! Congrats. Nah unfortunately I'm still at it. Doing part time work for the time being
| ArsMoriendi I know the Meat Puppets, from the songs I've heard they're pretty good, I still need to check an album though. Will probably do that soon.
| Mythodea Probably good, if I had to make a guess. I don't know when the results will come out. For the most part I;m positive, though!
| Cygnatti man selling england by the pound was probs my 2nd prog rock album, and was my favorite for the longest time. but now i just can't stand 60-70% of it, the cheesy wank is just too much for me. the songs that i do like, i like quite a bit tho (that opener is one of the best out there). it just doesn't cut it for me. any album where i'm begging it to end so so much sooner than it does can't warrant a 3.0 or ever. :/
| Cygnatti lol i just realized you left that comment months ago, nvm nvm!
| Cygnatti "hello, you have some of the worst ratings i've ever seen. Congratulations." dude that guy only gives 1-2.5 ratings to albums he hasn't heard yet but is planning to.
| Mythodea Meh, Freud would say that I'm driven by my instictive sexual desires and I project them everywhere, but he would say that even if I read it as ''Best of pirate belt, apple, song, chimpazee''. I attribute it to my badly cleaned glasses!
| Ryus probably more of a 4.5 but that is my hype rating
| Mythodea Nice, nice. For a reason I keep reading ''Best of luck'' as ''best of ****''....
| Mythodea I checked Anekdoten's last one, but nothing caught my attention. Maybe i'M not in their orbit yet. I'm studying Psychology at uni, pretty interesting stuff. I've got a big exam on Saturday. What about you, are you in school or what?
| Mythodea I opened the link you send me, interested to see what you were so amazed with, and I see Spirit. Yeah, man, this album is excellent. Good thing you discovered it. I found it a year ago and was stunned with songs like Zoo and Mr Skin (oh god, that sax!) Check McLuhan's Anomaly. You may like it, same era, similar genre.
| Mythodea Hey, buddy. Everything's fine, no need to worry. Just very pressed with university, it's been taking much of my time. Other than that, all's good. Haven't had any new musical discovery other than Anglagard (they're pretty awesome, check them out), I'm waiting for familiar bands to put out their new albums (Leprous, Riverside etc) Will listen to your suggestion and inform you. See you around. Cheers!
| Titan it's not going to last much longer!
| NeroCorleone80 Yeah same. I just use youtube to sample before I buy. The guitar work on that album is incredible.
| NeroCorleone80 I'm re-evaluating my 5s a bit. Its still one of my fave prog albums.
| Titan sorry bro, but your counterpart up there deserves to be lashed at
| Ryus it doesn't happen all the time, but it's natural ;]
| NeroCorleone80 Sounds ok, wasnt huge on it but I'll at least give the album a full listen. You should check Marquee Moon by Television. I think you'd dig as its post-punk with a big progressive leaning.
| NeroCorleone80 Dont think I've heard them, or if I did it was a while ago. I tend to just jam the big British prog bands, nothing else really stuck. More of a metal/punk guy really.
| Onirium He's an independant guitarist who gained recognition and attention through his Bandcamp page over the last few years. I guess you could describe his sound as a beautiful blend of jazz-fusion, progressive metal and post-rock, but he really has a particular atmosphere and style that makes his music a very interesting and unique experience. It's extremely charming as well, as the guy doesn't take himself too seriously. Check it out: http://plini.bandcamp.com/album/sweet-nothings
| Tunaboy45 Thanks man! I'll probably end up reviewing them all so I'm sure there'll be a Vespertine review at some point.
| Onirium Hey, are you familiar with Plini?
| RadicalEd A shame, but oh well ;). Portishead are cool, but when it comes to trip-hop I prefer Massive Attack over them. Dummy is still a really good album.
| Onirium I absolutely love Coltrane, but I think my favourite jazz artist would either be Miles Davis or Keith Jarrett. The former for being extremely quintessential, innovative and influential within the genre, and the latter mostly for the brilliance of The Köln Concert.
| Onirium It's quite probably not my personal favourite jazz album so far, but it certainly is brilliant and contains some of the most passionate music I have heard - but passion is a standard in his music. I think the fact that most jazz artists of that era recorded live in the studio without any overdubbing - overdubs barely existed at the time anyways - plays an important role in the passionate character of their music. In terms of Coltrane, My Favourite Things is just as brilliant in my opinion.
| Jethro42 Yeah I love their blend of Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead and Wishbone Ash. I only knew Spirit by their name. Thanks for showing me these guys.
| Jethro42 Yeah I love their blend of Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead and Wishbone Ash. I only knew Spirit by their name. Thanks for showing these guys.
| NeroCorleone80 Only a 3 for Thick as a Brick? Damn, thats easily one of the best prog albums ever imo.
| NeroCorleone80 Yeah its an awesome album. Have it 4.5'd and really should jam it more often.
| NeroCorleone80 Dunno why you're bothering shoutboxing Fozzie. He's not an actual user, but a bot that either the mods or site owner uses to mess around. His posts are just automated.
| OmairSh Steven's definitely a brilliant musician and a genius for me. But of course he is human
| Onirium ... possibilities and variations that it's hardly possible to love it all. I personally never completely got into Rush, for example. I do like Hemispheres and Farewell to Kings a lot, but I find 2112 being one of the most annoying "classic" prog albums I've ever listened to.
| Onirium That's prefectly understandable, I wouldn't criticize your ratings' legitimacy or anything. To some extent I can agree with you on A Passion Play; I always thought Ian Anderson got slightly lost in his own ambition after Thick As A Brick. As for Renaissance, it's mainly the classical influences that I find being the point of interest. Even though many prog bands did that, they really intgrated it perfectly in my opinion. But that's what so interesting about prog as a whole; there's so many...
| OmairSh Yeah man he's like a machine. I guess it was going to show sometime. I think he should also work on a new No-Man album. His collaboration with Tim is always fruitful. I can't agree with you on the Guthrie point. Guthrie needs improvement on his songwriting but I love his style and tones, he's a really creative guitarist, even though on this album he seems to be there for his solos only. I was also quite impressed by Marco on this album, he seemed a little stiff on other albums but not on HCE.
| OmairSh I wish he'd return to PT. I was happy to hear that he wanted PT to compose as a band if he were to go back, which is what I've wanted for a while. He's done 4 solo albums now, it's time to make another PT album. Yeah this year is looking pretty good so far. I was fascinated by the concept of Medulla, but the execution wasn't as good as I'd hoped for.
| OmairSh Yo yo Toronto. Yeah man recent albums on the playlist haven't been fantastic but there have definitely been pretty good ones. HCE isn't bad, but it didn't have many refreshing elements. The moments I liked the most were the least Raven like ones. I enjoyed the poppy elements of the t/t and Happy returns. Wish Perfect Life was longer. Riverside, Leprous and Votum releasing albums this year and they should be at least 3.5 worthy *fingers crossed
| Onirium I'm definitely not an expert on the matter, but I'd say The Kick Inside and The Dreaming would both work well as introductory albums. Also, what are the reasons behind those 2.5s for Bill Evans, Renaissance and Tull? I know you have reconsidered the rating system, and you're perfectly free to have your own opinions of course, but I'm just curious.
| Onirium Her more experimental side is what really attracted me at first, but with all the charm she has, I assume her poppier sound must be pleasant as well. Plus, she looks so gorgeous on Debut's cover. I'm really looking forward to jamming her discog, especially Vespertine. In a relatively similar vein, do you dig Kate Bush as well?
| RadicalEd Sure, it'll be a blast once you check it out ;). TbH I'm not that much into bjork, but that maybe because I haven't given her enough time. I listened to Homogenic and I liked it but never really listened to it again =D. The new album distinctly bored me unfortunately.
| Onirium Thanks! I will definitely check them all, but I'll probably go chronologically from "Debut". I've just finished listening to Homogenic, and it wasn't really and instant classic for me, but I'm expecting it to be much more of a grower. If you liked Homogenic, from what I can grasp of its sound I think you'd love her new one as well. It explores a much more stripped-back and minimalistic approach, an the emphasis is really on emotion.
| Onirium Thanks for the rec, I've been meaning to get to those albums for a while, I just didn't happen to find the time. But I'm on my first listen of Homogenic at the moment I'm writing, and I can say I really love what I'm hearing. Until recently I had never been too keen on electronic music, but it has been growing on me a lot recently; I'm not into all of the genre since it's extensively wide-ranging, but Homogenic - and Bjork in general - is exactly the kind of music I enjoy from the scene.
| Jethro42 Glad you liked Maneige. They're a good example of Fusion, blending classical and folk with jazz tones for great results. They're as prog as they can get. These guys are multi-instrumentalist, and I particularly like the complicity between the piano and the flutes. Try Les Porches when you get ready. Band rules!
| JamieTwort Nice, pleased to hear it. Best psych album ever.
| RadicalEd Actually working on a list to coincide with my 1000th rating, so I'll have to hold off on that for a while. Since you're a prog-rock kind of guy, you should definitely check out harmonium. I highly recommend their second album.
| RadicalEd Thanx for including Spirit in your list =D. Amazing stuff.
| OmairSh Haha you would say that :D. But it's a cool city for sure (it's like -10 degrees C on a good day :P)
| OmairSh I can see the sh*t you git, dam. That's the internet for ya. Ah man, figuring out where and what to study can be a pain in the arse......Yeah good luck with that :P. Yup I'm still on the hunt in Toronto. Hunting is alright, just need to be patient I guess
| Snowdog808 Cool list! I purchased several of those albums at some point.
| OmairSh How're things man? You made a list for me? Wow I'm flattered man
| OmairSh Yo Toronto. Nice list dude, I think I'll probably be checking some of them albums later on. Oh and it's Dixie DREGS, that's why the album art isn't showing :-)
| Jethro42 Yeah I think ''A Love Supreme'' surpasses ''My Favorite Things''. I love how Coltrane leaves room to the other musicians. The pianist is sensational. He helps bringing a ''progressive'' vibe to the band. As for Coltrane, he is god. Thanks for that rec. So, how did you find the theatrical presence of Gabriel on stage? He's such a beast on the scene!...
| Lord(e)Po)))ts i found it bland and homogenous and overly cinematic. the whole bjork vocal schtick has begun to get tiring and uninspired, its just the same s*** every time and the music itself is some of the most uninteresting or evocative ive heard from her (for me at least). i just think she needs to do something new, progress a little bit instead of staying within her safety net. she used to be one of the edgiest musicians out there and now she's just boring.
| OmairSh I haven't heard the single yet (that's how excited I am about the album). I think it'll be just another SW album with maybe a little new elements. For the most part it won't be refreshing. I hope I'm wrong though. On the other hand Riverside look to have changed their direction and are abandoning hard rock elements for the upcoming album. Should be a 3.5 at least (fingers crossed)
| OmairSh Unfortunately I'm still on the job hunt. Patience is a virtue right? :-P
| Jethro42 Sounds interesting for Coltrane. And yes, The Lamb live is crystal clear, and they're all at the top of their game. Here I give you another Genesis link; a partial show on video. The quality is not top notch but is acceptable. Supper's Ready is at the 37th minute. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FBcz3tBH74
| Jethro42 Hello Torontonian. All right, I'm gonna try A Love Supreme, and I'll give you my impressions on it. And I'm glad to see you digging more and more into Genesis, my fave band. The Lamb flows very well from start to finish. Every songs fit well with the next one. You should try The Lamb live taken from Genesis Archives #1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OncYcKkRrbw
| OmairSh I've been doing well. Yeah man you'll be fine I'm sure :-). I've done my masters, so college was a little while ago :-P. Yeah I expected more from Grouper, but the album didn't do much for me. Lots of good albums to look forward to this year dude, can't wait.
| OmairSh Nicee, just been busy man. Will probably be posting less often consequently. How's life?
| DrMaximus Cool man. If you're on rym, add me.
| TalonsOfFire I've actually been getting back into old prog and am jamming their debut now, I love how loose and free it sounds with so little structure. I'll probably relisten to Mirage afterwards and then the next two
| DrMaximus No problem haha. You should check Cross Paths. Very uplifting, and never fails to make me :D
| DrMaximus Haha, similar favourites I suppose. I go through his ratings a lot lol. Which ratings are you comparing though? His ratings on rym are completely different than on Sput.
| TalonsOfFire ;) Haha sorry dude that thread was really funny and I wanted to add to the hilarity, sorry if it came off as mean, but you're one of my main prog bros on here!
| AgonySadtanoHere I did. There are leaks everywhere and she already released it due to them, in case you were not aware. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy it at all. In fact, I hated it.
| Pon You might even enjoy Tri Repetae and Oversteps too
| Pon Listen to Amber, it's absolutely NOTHING like Confield, I think you'll dig
| Pon Hey dude, I'm curious as to what you've heard of Autechre, because Confield isn't exactly their most accessible album.
| ArsMoriendi Also, since you didn't like Let England Shake, I'd love to hear your opinion on To Bring You My Love.
| ArsMoriendi It's my least favorite out of the 3 Camel albums I've heard, so nope. Also, yeah I'll probably check more Clarke soon, probably sometime during February.
| ArsMoriendi I definitely like it better than Moonmadness :P
| ArsMoriendi Well maybe it's because PJ Harvey is one of my favorite artists ever that I appreciated what she did with it. Try To Bring You My Love, it's easily her best and a solid 5.
| Titan Snakes is great indeed! But something has to be near the bottom.
| Titan nope, swap grace and power windows
| Titan Moving Pictures, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, 2112, Signals, Roll The Bones, A Farewell To Kings, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Fly By Night, Clockwork Angels, Hold Your Fire, Presto, Caress Of Steel, Vapor Trails, Counterparts, Rush, Snakes And Arrows, Test For Echo
| Titan Check again. And I dropped every single record of his a half point due to my current 'phase'.
| Titan He gets too much attention on this site as well
| Titan Part of it has to do with my recent disgust for SW. I'm growing tired of him. A 4.5 for that record is probably more accurate for me right now. I can't help it!
| Friday13th Yeah that's some good contest-worthy prog. Next time. If you wanna dig deep into RPI check menawati's list: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=732486
| Friday13th yeah dude that stuff is some whack-nizzly RPI
| Titan Yes, it looks like they will be at Madison Square garden on June 29th.........Happy New Year to you too dude!!
| Muisc4Life26 Heck yea man, have a great year :D http://youtu.be/0PXQ_dUhhPg
| Mythodea what's the album you're talking about? If it's that good, I'd like to listen to it!
| Mythodea Happy new year my friend! I hope everything you wish to come true! With happiness and dignity!
| Snowdog808 I like what I heard for them a lot, but I still have not fulfilled my plans to hear a whole album of theirs.
| Snowdog808 Merry Christmas Torontonian. I'm sure glad you enjoyed A Farewell to Kings!
| Mythodea If you dig Eidolon, you most probably will enjoy Feathergun, which I think is superior. The new one is as rich as I expected it to be and as deep as well. It will take me some listens to appreciate it fully. It's def a 4. Will comment now and then through my sister's laptop. Will talk again, dude, cheers!
| Titan I agree that those two aren't bumped as often as they should be, among others of theirs as well. I can honestly say that I like every phase that band went through. It gives us fans more diversity....
| Onirium Thanks for the advice, and yeah I was talking about Montreal. I'd definitely go, but I just realized tickets are sold like 150$ for all three nights... And apparently you can't buy a ticket for just one of them...
| Onirium Hey, do you know if Marillion are any good live? They're coming around this year, so I thought it could be great, but I figured I'd ask my favorite Marillion connoisseur about it ;)
| Titan the one with the hot chick singing?
| Titan haha, he rec'd it to me too along with 20 others I bet
| Titan my 3 favorite albums that I heard this year (not necessarily from 2014) are Leprous - Bilateral, Flying Colors - Second Nature, and Threshold - March Of Progress
| Titan You are a progressive rock kind of guy correct?
| Titan I will give it a good listen later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the rec and I'll give you my feedback.....
| Mythodea hey man, what's up?? I 'll be absent for a while, my pc has some problems (Again...sigh...)and I don't spend any time on internet cafe's... So, what do you think of the new RISHLOO?
| mandan I'm not too knowledgeable on the subject.
| Muisc4Life26 Nice song, not something i will listen to on a daily basis but i love the atmosphere and she has a nice voice. I want to start getting into more foreign artists, so this is a good start.
| ArsMoriendi Oh, okay! Well I already know what I'm listening to next so I don't need any recs at the moment!
| ArsMoriendi I haven't 5'd something since October haha. To Bring You My Love is a 5 of mine and one of my all time favorite albums. Maybe it'll give you some ideas to what I'd love.
| ArsMoriendi That's a little disheartening, I hope I disagree with you when I finally listen to that album. But from the 7 albums I've heard, she's cool as hell and often all over the place in a good way. I think To Bring You My Love is more up your alley anyway.
| ArsMoriendi It's funny you say that since Let England Shake is the only PJ Harvey album I haven't heard. I recommend To Bring You My Love. Although that song is from Is This Desire? which is also great.
| ArsMoriendi That was okay, the drums were cool. Do you like this?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rpz_o8VwLSc
| Titan Roll The Bones is an extremely nostalgic and personal record for me, hence the 5. I get my balls broken around here for it but all in good fun. Dreamline, Bravado, and You Bet Your Life are my top 3 off of it. It's not for everyone though. Like your Dad, I too cut a few classes to go pick up their new albums!
| Titan band has a lot to offer, i bet they will become one of your favorites as well. try to go see them live. moving pictures is my favorite record ever.
| Titan Yes, by a wide margin. Seen em 31 times in concert dude.
| Onirium Misplaced Childhood is like a 4.2-4.3 for me at the moment, I think I just forgot to rate it. Marillion are definitely something I should have checked out earlier. For the italian band, well I don't have the time to listen to the whole album right now, but I really love what I'm hearing. I think you might like this, it's Spanish folk-influenced prog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjFs0Iy6yAc
| Titan listening to it now, have to let it digest, thanks for the rec.
| Titan ok i will try those 2 again........and i have marbles. thanks dude!
| Jethro42 I'd probably start with ''Les Porches''. My perso fav has to be ''Ni Vent ...Ni Nouvelle'' though. The latter is probably more accessible but don't get me wrong, they're all the same easy to get into. I also think that their last two albums are only available on vinyl, if it's still the case...Enjoy!
| Titan brave and afraid are the best hogarth albums, outside of seasons end?
| Jethro42 I haven't found the songs I exactly intended to send to you. On your link, there are ''Douce Amere'' twice. Sorry for this inconvenience. The last one ''Un Certain Regard'' is one of my fav of theirs. You can't go wrong with Maneige. All their albums are full of gems.
| Jethro42 It's a 70's fusion band that flirts with jazz and folk. The whole thing has a very progressive rock ideal and it's flute oriented. You also got clarinet, saxophones and a lot of brillant percussives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLr8LkSUT-s
| Jethro42 If you rely to my nickname and my avatar, it looks like it's the case, but no, Tull is even not in my top 5 which is something like Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Gentle Giant and Maneige. But wait, Tull would fit into my top 10. Jethro42 was actually a nickname I did use for a chatroom.
| Ryus anytime, good album agreed
| JamieTwort Ahh, well it's still really close to a 5 and easily my favourite Camel but I've been filtering out the 5's I had that aren't definite, indisputable 5's and that one just about fell into that category.
| JamieTwort Haha, it went with all my other ratings when I got them wiped.
| ArsMoriendi Dude, it was okay, but I think I already know what album I'm going to listen to next. :P
| ArsMoriendi I know "Big Time Sensuality" so far and it's okay... But sure I'll check her song "Play Dead" asap
| ArsMoriendi Bjork is okay, I might check Post one day since "Army of Me."
| ArsMoriendi I'd be a liar if I said that that song made me want to check Supertramp at all though. Maybe someday.
| ArsMoriendi I don't know what to tell you dude, but I did love the second half of the song. :)
| ArsMoriendi "Child Of Vision" started off really poppy and lame, but I'll admit that the second half was epic, especially the piano. So it could have been better but it did pay off in the end.
| ArsMoriendi I mean they aren't bad, but they're jam rock and I grew up despising The Grateful Dead, so I guess I have a predispositioned dislike for that type of stuff. Even if Umphrey's and Phish are respectable.
| ArsMoriendi That's the beauty of college. I also got him into Yes. He keeps trying to push Umphrey's McGee on me and I'm like nah.
| ArsMoriendi Very funny, I actually showed my friend One Size Fits All today and he loved it haha. I'll check your link as soon as I finish the album I'm listening to currently.
| Onirium Kayleigh is pretty much the best cheesy power ballad of the 80s to be honest :p
| Lord(e)Po)))ts amon duul ii - phallus dei, .o.rang - herd of instinct, alphataurus - s/t, comus - first utterance, cymande - s/t, eider stellaire - I, exuma - s/t, flower travelin band - satori, gevende - sen balik degilsin ki, land of kush - against the day, master musicians of bukkake - totem one, osibisa - s/t, popoh vuh - hosiana mantra, seven that spells - future retro spasm, wovenhand - mosaic,
| Onirium Thanks for the link, I will definitely check it out! It took me a while to get used to their sound; I wouldn't say it sounds dated, but there's that kind of 80s cheesiness at times in my opinion, which is basically what kept me from checking their stuff earlier. But anyways, I got used to it, and now I actually feel it adds an interesting new dimension to their stuff, and dare I say to prog in general.
| Onirium Haha yeah, I'm really digging Marillion right now; I've only heard Misplaced Childhood and Brave so far, and they both rule, but I'm eventually planning on checking their discography chronogically. But man, what's this Tubular Bells rating? ;)
| Onirium Hey, here are two of the great songs I was talking about, previewed for the new Decemberists album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUCeHbg4afA | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKZHpp2f8wk The direction they're taking seems pretty much to be like The King is Dead minus the americana influences
| Artuma far more than just "worthwhile"
