  • rockandmetaljunkie Yet another little gem that caught my attention https://theblackfurs.bandcamp.com/album/doomed-blues-2
    September 26 09:25 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Thanks man, i will make sure to check this out.
    September 23 07:28 AM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Hahaha, of course you can. Dreams are for free after all.
    September 19 08:16 AM
  • rockandmetaljunkie That's how our world works. I hate it when i sound like a cynical dickhead. But in all honesty, i can't see how this will happen. Not going to lie, i would pay to see the classic line up live. But you and me are the minority my friend.

  • rockandmetaljunkie Out of all the possible musical comebacks or reunions of this world, WG is the last band i expected to hear from someone haha. But i don't think it's happening. Bands can only be persuaded by money because once they've lost interest, that's it. Look at gn'r. Did you think that out of sudden, Slash and Axl just decided to put aside their differences and reunited ? They got payed to do it. And they got payed ridiculous amounts. Who's going to pay a WG reunion tour ? No one.
    September 18 10:22 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie I'm afraid i do not feel the same way about reunions. When there's a rift in the relationships of band, it's hard to produce difficult results. Besides, i think these guys are well past their prime. I'm more positive towards a reunion tour though.

  • rockandmetaljunkie I truly think of Helloween as one of the biggest, most wasted bands of all time. They were so promising and had such a huge potential but personal turmoils destroyed the band.
    September 13 10:06 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie It's a good listen. Part I is actually my favorite power metal album of all time. A true classic in every sense of the word. Part II is impressive as well, but not at the same levels of part I.
    September 13 08:50 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Go for it then. Early PF are very different compared to their classic era, but some of their early albums offer top notch psychedelic music. Their debut is one of my all time favorite psychedelic rock albums.
    September 13 07:34 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie It's hard for me to tell you my top 5. There are so many albums i absolutely adore. It's almost impossible for me to choose.
    September 13 06:12 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Nice. My fav doors album is their debut and my fav pf is wywh. Although there are times where Animals and DSOtM claim the spot. I love all three albums so much, it's prob my favorite musical trilogy.
    September 13 06:11 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Pink floyd and the doors are some of my favorite bands as well. Favorite albums ?
    September 13 02:55 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie It's true, your username gave you away hahaha
    September 13 02:54 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Regarding my fav metal band, Black Sabbath is my favorite as they represent everything that i love in rock/metal. It's no accident they are first on my list.
    September 10 04:24 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie I don't know if i'm making any sense, lol. If you want to hear a good musical example of what i'm saying check out Triptykon. The music contains a lot of double bass drum but you rarely hear any palm muting. The band relies solely on drones and sustain and the guitar sounds heavy as fvck.
    September 10 04:22 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie I don't know. That dum dum dum sounds of a quick guitar playing style with palm mutes is something i don't particularly like. I love listening to the guitars, i just love the sustain cause it feels great when a power chord is strucked without palm muting because that way you give your guitar the proper room to "breathe". I guess that's the main reason i stopped listening to thrash and ventured into doom/stoner metal. Because those bands actually do that with what they play.
    September 10 03:58 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Let me explain what i mean. I like my guitars to sound heavy, down-tuned and have a menacing presence. What black sabbath and tony iommi taught me is that the presence of the guitar is confined when a guitarist overuses palm muting. Palm muting technique is an indispensable part of heavy metal. But i don't like it when a guitarist relies too much of his playing on that technique. I think the guitar sounds "choked".

  • rockandmetaljunkie Have you asked my favorite metal sub-genres 5 or 6 years ago, my answer would be traditional heavy metal and thrash. Three years ago, i would have told you doom and stoner. My taste changed as i started to enjoy slow-paced heavy metal. Nowadays, it doesn't really matter how fast or slow the music is. It doesn't matter if the drummer of my favorite doom metal band abuses the double bass of his drum kit. What i realized after listening to different bands is that guitars are the definitive factor.
    September 10 03:12 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Of course, i always find the time to return to some old-classic doom because i simply need it. And maybe one day i will check those bands you mentioned because i know they are good.
    September 9 08:27 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Thanks for the recs man. I'm familiar with the bands you mentioned, but as of yet i haven't got the chance to get around them. And the reason is that i'm trying to get introduced to more styles of music like shoegazing, ambient, drone, post-metal, etc. My tastes have grown a lot and since last year i've been introduced to some amazing bands. If i keep listening to one style i"ll get bored no matter how good the music is. Just need to keep things as diverse as possible.
    September 9 08:24 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie My initial thought about WtD's debut was exactly like yours. Given the proper time, it grew on me and i geniunly enjoyed it for what it is. I remember loving to death that juicy, sleazy guitar tone.
    September 9 08:18 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Just what you thought you didn't like ?
    September 9 07:35 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Well, what can i say ? Different strokes for different folks dude. I myself thought that the record was great and it was a pleasure listening to a legend like Dorrian returning to his old post behind mic. I enjoyed the album and if i had made a list with my favorite doom metal songs of the year, 2 or 3 songs from that album would made it into that list.
    September 9 07:34 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie If you loved that album, you definitely need to check "The Guessing Game". It's a double album and it's Cathedral' the most experimental work imo. Incredible record.
    September 8 08:13 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie I've heard every album released by Cathedral. "The Garden" is definitely one of my favorites mainly because of the progressive tendencies the band displays. These two albums are very different so it's really hard for me to compare, but if i had to choose, Carnival Bizarre would be my pick because it's sounds more inspired. Garden's t/t though is one of the best songs these guys ever wrote.

  • rockandmetaljunkie So always keep an eye (and an ear) open and i assure you that you will be rewarded. ;)

  • rockandmetaljunkie You need to search, but that's the beauty of it. Because in the process, you"ll discover some musical gems you wouldn't find otherwise.
    August 26 10:54 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie You need to know this: even if it's one of the oldest (and probably THE oldest sub-genre of heavy metal), doom metal is considered to be an underground genre and for a good reason too. It's sad, depressive and slow in nature, so people often find it hard to associate themselves with this kind of music. And as with every other style of music that's mostly hidden from public attention, decent doom metal records are hard to spot.
    August 26 10:53 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Glad you liked those other doom records as well.
    August 25 01:02 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie In all honesty, I don't remember this album so well, but the songs that impressed me the most were the two parts of Riddle of steel.
    August 24 01:25 AM
  • rockandmetaljunkie you're welcome ;)
    August 23 10:45 AM
  • Sevengill haha no problem, I'm glad you're enjoying it. some albums are serious growers and that's one of the growiest of the growy for me.
