| DoofDoof Yes, it is so far removed from what I know, it is not a like for like comparison with - how would i deal with this? - that isnt accurate or fair. To me the relationship seemed so damaged from the very start but when you are on the inside you dont have that perspective.

There is a lot more to it than that and he went about controlling things to a level I find hard to comprehend but I see how it works.

| AnimalsAsSummit the first song is basically a 4/5 song for me... the intro to it is straight 5/5 i mean holy **** what can i say. its beautiful. but it takes a different direction and then until the end i felt like every track got worse. i will give it another go though.

| AnimalsAsSummit oh i gotchu now lol, i think you're right i might up my rating i just really hated those vox at first and the overly vaporwave/ tape warp atmosphere, but more than half of these tracks i can dig the instrumentals at least a bit. first song is the best for me.

| AnimalsAsSummit thanks for the feedback dude. but yo you should relisten to that s***. not a single thing out of sync on the mfker ;) reasonably complex rhythms that stutter and realign, but you can figure them out if you listen closely, might make it sound odd on initial listening.

 | discovolante And basically, the way I see it: it?s like saying that Snoop Dogg is the same as 100s, just because 100s is influenced by him. The same thing with LS and Nightmare. Plus, Nightmare haven?t even sounded similar to LS in a good decade or so.

| discovolante Easy. Luna Sea?s prog-alt style is similar to L?arc and not Glay because Glay is prog-power pop. Different sound, different style. And Kuroyume are even further from being similar to LS because Kuroyume have never, ever had a prog-alt sound at all. I guess they had a goth sound when they first started, but it wasn?t the type of atmospheric stuff LS did at all.

| discovolante Basically Nightmare and guys like that sound like LS (or did at one point). LS does not sound like them. If you said someone like L?arc who came out at around the same time as LS, then you?d have a band that were somewhat similar to LS. But that is literally the only band I can think of that sound anything similar to Luna Sea.

| discovolante Yeah, but honestly, there are no bands like Luna Sea in my opinion, because they are just that centered on the members and their own individual sounds that get thrown in the mix. If it was any other band, I?d agree, but there are no bands really that sound like them, which is why I list their side projects instead. While they may be bands that were at a point inspired by them, that doesn?t necessarily make LS similar to them, but rather they are similar to LS. Sort of a one way street.

| discovolante And also, I would argue that their solo work is very much similar to Luna Sea?s collective sound since LS?s main sound is a flurry of all of their different elements. Ryuichi?s pop sound, J?s punk sound, Inoran?s deep, lush alternative sound, Sugizo?s proggy-avant-garde tendencies... Technically speaking, I?d say that the members of LS?s solo projects are more in line with being similar to LS than any other band, since all of their sounds blended together are what make Luna Sea... Luna Sea.

| discovolante Nah man. Cali Gari and Nightmare are pretty far away from each other stylistically. While Nightmare?s original releases may have had some LS influence, they have been quite far from the LS end of the spectrum since about 2006. And if anything, Cali Gari have more in common with someone like Buck-Tick. LS is way too normal to be compared to Cali Gari.
