  • JohnnyoftheWell heh energy is never lost or created // only converted :][ thanks dude, although slow riot is as safe a 4 as any ig :/
    October 22 02:10 PM
  • theBoneyKing lol yeah no idea what you're talking about XD
    October 21 06:27 PM
  • theBoneyKing i've been to a minor place...
    October 21 05:48 PM
  • SandwichBubble That's a shame, I love the more "theatrical" acts. I'll definitely check Elf Power soon though, I might just agree with you.
    October 12 12:49 PM
  • SandwichBubble I've been slowly working through elephant 6 bands, so I haven't gotten to them yet. But only a 4.0 for E6's best? No way.
    October 11 11:30 PM
  • unclereich I am a huge history buff(especially ww2 considering my grandmas german/Jewish heritage) and I read the book of the same name by Jim Marrs for summer reading going into AP history my senior year of h.s. when I joined the site. It just truly sounded like a cool term to me. After a while it became laughable how something I thought was totally innocent was so misconstrued so i kept it! Kind of became a joke ya know? Then I became an uncle and wanted celebrate that and changed it after 9 years!
    October 11 01:26 PM
  • unclereich That's a weird thought but not at all. It was annoying how often eople thought I was an alt or a nazi without even getting to know me.
    October 11 01:11 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell oh yeah lol the logic is that kids aren't wearing masks so are more likely to spread, it's so dumb. i eat lunch in the staff room and peeps chat there thank ****
    October 11 09:34 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell ummm shut up, don't complain, don't talk at lunch, wear a mask, wash your hands is p much the full scope of it
    October 11 09:27 AM
  • Dylan620 I'll give it a checkeroo - I'm actually familiar with their song "Tornado '87" (though I know it's not from that album) and it's a great tune. I did enjoy "LP2" so cheers for that rec
    October 10 12:53 PM
  • Lucman Cheers for the rec, man! First listen was amazing.
    October 9 09:35 PM
  • Rowan5215 ah you know miserable goddamn year but I'm trudging along, hope you're well lad
    October 9 02:19 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell hi um this is the police so, hey, um, you have a hex ! please come with us :]
    October 9 02:02 PM
  • theBoneyKing No worries, no worries. Self-isolating eh? Just exposed or do you have the bug? Is the list by any chance a remake of your top 100 since that's no longer up on your profile??
    October 9 01:27 PM
  • theBoneyKing Ooo that sounds tasty af, will def put on my checklist! Try the King's Daughters and Sons song yet btw?
    October 9 01:12 PM
  • theBoneyKing I've heard of 'em but never listened. They up my alley?
    October 9 01:10 PM
  • Dylan620 Will do my dude, once I'm through with this listen to the new Imperial Triumphant - it's either that or my comrades in Castling for my AOTYsf
    October 9 12:27 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell oh boi yes the purplest of the purple. that sea rio hnnnnnnng
    October 8 10:19 PM
  • theBoneyKing Nice tune, not sure I'd call it slowcore tbh but I can dig. I'll return the favor and share my slowcore jam of the week: King's Daughters and Sons - "Arc of the Absentees". In this case I'm digging the whole album but this tune has been really stuck in my head the past few days.
    October 8 09:57 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell don't have enough vitriol in my body to do this atm, will drink some bleach and see what i can do
    October 7 02:25 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell nah but maybe i should it anyway lol, results are going to be so boring that it's either that or decide that 100gecs win the whole thing for no reason
    October 7 02:16 PM
  • Josh D. I'm a good man
    October 2 03:54 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell distopian dream girl lyrics ugh yes yes
    September 29 12:00 PM
  • SandwichBubble All 3 are quality, but yeah, Valentino is definitely my favorite of the 3.
    September 24 05:25 PM
  • NorthernSkylark I liked that one too, but the idler wheel is a classic for me. Bob Dylan - Rough and Rowdy Ways, Bill Callahan - Gold Record, Matt Elliott - Farewell to All We Know, Bonny Light Horseman - s.t. and Orville Peck's new EP. Those are my faves so far, I think. Also i'm really looking forward to the new Fleet Foxes album that's being released sometime today!
    September 22 10:56 AM
  • NorthernSkylark oh, how can we ever know! Any releases of 2020 you're loving so far? (not sarcasm.)
    September 21 05:58 PM
  • NorthernSkylark haha, i totally didn't get that! also, check nick drake...
    September 21 03:11 PM
  • NorthernSkylark dude, i have 2 elliott smith 5's, but you can rec me anything
    September 19 06:34 PM
  • theBoneyKing Oh man lots already and Im still absorbing it. I can already tell its an all-timer that will give me lots of comfort through the years. An early fave is ? Buy me a shiny new machine / That runs on lies and gasoline / And all those batteries we stole from smoke-alarms / And disassembles my despair / It never took me anywhere / It never once bought me a drink?
    September 19 01:28 PM
  • NorthernSkylark About Today, Daughters of the Soho Riots, Racing Like a Pro, Lemonworld, Fireproof. And that's me cherrypicking from 5 albums! Most might not agree with the last one, but i dig it's simplicity and the straighforward lyrics... Never thought about city middle as top 5 material, but is a great song nonetheless. Slow show is prob top 20 for me, it's also the only song i can play on guitar by the national, ha. Could have chosen Brainy as well! About Today is devastating and beautiful, a real classic
    September 16 06:08 PM
  • NorthernSkylark Sweet phero! I'll be looking forward to you ranting about high violet in a few years! I would say that boxer is only a few steps behind it tho. Brainy is one of my all time favorites! What's your top 5 national songs atm?
    September 11 06:52 PM
  • Mort. i do go to uni in norwich, but im currently at home in surrey taking a break in studies til january. got a job a couple of weeks ago at an italian restaurant and now spend my time being patronised by a stout angry chef. hope you enjoy norwich tho, i think its a lovely place
    September 4 11:58 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell what what i ignored you?? are you pulling my leg into a GUILT TRIP?!?!?! will try to check this wknd!!
    September 3 12:33 PM
  • NorthernSkylark cool man! Alligator was the first national i heard, so it's hard to beat for me. yeah, discogs shouldn't be hurried. I'm going slowly through lambchop's discog (so many albums!), only problem is i started with the best one (imo), is a woman... So I keep going back that one. I think it's best to just delve on one album at a time and then moving on when you're ready.
    September 1 11:39 AM
  • Dylan620 Ayo Phero - mentally I've been in Hurricane Land for much of the past couple weeks. Tracking those beasts is one of my biggest passions, right up there with listening to music - and last week was especially big what with Hurricane Laura slamming into the US Gulf Coast. How are you my dude?
    August 31 02:11 PM
  • NorthernSkylark have* can't edit
    August 31 02:03 PM
  • NorthernSkylark Sweet. It's my favorite tied with high violet. prob depending on my mood. There are some real growers on that one, esp. daughters and val jester. How you begun your national journey now? or are you just... looking for astronauts!
    August 31 01:58 PM
  • NorthernSkylark yeah, gave it a full spin yesterday. It's nice enough, but it didn't amaze me tbh. A feathery 3.5 for now, but i will defintely return and see what it sparks up!
    August 28 07:27 PM
  • Mort. because all their stuff has come back onto streaming services after being gone for a couple of years. some sort of distribution problem theyve finally gotten fixed
    August 17 11:14 AM
  • NorthernSkylark u had me at night time music! will jam later.
    August 15 04:29 PM
  • NorthernSkylark Really loved that legendary album! Nice smokescreen too. Do you have a rec for me for my 1700th rating job?
    August 15 02:48 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Mmm yeah, unfortunate in some ways but also a lot better than being in the UK mid-pandemic - just a generally unfortunate time to be a human tbh. Hope that kgigs start up soon, Tokyo is kinda out of bounds for the indefinite and that's my nearest hub :/ That sucks big time re. Prague though, law degrees seemed p thankless from what I saw, so having an Erasmus year must go a long way :[ at least you'll graduate sooner tho!
    August 14 01:10 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell got drunk on my aunt's sofa and applied for a teaching job on a whim ;] it's a good place to be rn, relatively calm corona vibes but the language is a nightmare and it's tough making friends :/ hopefully things will mellow out when the virus passes - but where are you at atm??
    August 14 09:23 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Heh I am British but live in Jpn, which probs explains things one way or another (or both ways!) and ummm Spangle Call Lilli Line - Purple since we're bumping And Nothing - vaguely the same vibe and colour scheme etc
    August 14 08:43 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Hehe, beautiful stuff my dude ;]
    August 13 02:17 PM
  • NorthernSkylark haha okay, i'll read and spin it later
    August 13 10:57 AM
  • NorthernSkylark who is this legend pontiac i had no idea existed?
    August 12 07:06 PM
  • robin plus theres a lot of writing ive done elsewhere that i feel more proud of / affection for
    August 7 05:14 PM
  • robin got mad at sowing making a s***ty joke about metoo, didnt want to yell at people in comments sections on the site where i hung out as a teen, wanted to cut ties with this website............ but u kno i still hang about lol
    August 7 05:13 PM
  • Mort. jesus christ we have known echother for that long now? mental. its hard to believe ive been on sput nearly seven years now. probs cos the site has barely changed in that time
    August 7 12:18 PM
  • Mort. in late response to your question i am currently just living at home, waiting to hear back from uni aboutsome stuff and trying (and failing) to get a job. also i get how the falling behind thing feels, i did a foundation year and had to retake some A levels so i was older than most my friends when i graduated. just dont compare yourself to other people or even your own plans, youre not falling behind at all : )
    August 7 11:25 AM
  • robin sorry mate i had a look but i dont think i have it.. i only backed up a few of them lol
    August 7 10:25 AM
  • robin oof probably not lol, thats like 2 laptops ago
    August 7 10:19 AM
  • SandwichBubble Doesn't help that there are two large cities named Athens in the world. No worries. Hope you dig Neighbors though!
    August 6 03:37 PM
  • SandwichBubble Nah, Dead Neighbors are from the USA. Confusing US city names. | Haven't heard of Closer, will put them on my check list.
    August 6 03:22 PM
  • SandwichBubble Check out Dead Neighbors - "Less" | https://deadneighbors.bandcamp.com/album/less | If it's not your thing, I've got another rec for you.
    August 6 02:47 PM
  • SandwichBubble I'll give it a go. | "I PROMISE to bump it every day" won't hold you to this though, I'm pretty sure I promised the same thing for that Call the Doctor review and look how that turned out.
    August 5 01:47 PM
  • Mort. oh i get that man. i broke up with my uni gf in my third year of uni while we still lived together. was all very weird n that so i get how the whole thins endings can feel. can be really overwhelming (partly why i ****ed up my masters and am now intercalating, as i felt pretty overwhelmed and lost staying in the uni city without a large network of friends n that after everyone else graduated and left)
    August 5 01:13 PM
  • Mort. that sucks man sorry to hear that. i would just listen to converge for the catharsis tbh. but also, Dismemberment Plans Emergency and I has that sort of bittersweet 'youre in your twenties and your life is falling apart but also is full of possibilities' feel that i find quite melancholic
    August 5 01:03 PM
  • Mort. just listened to some of it and its good s***, will give it a proper check at some point
    June 24 12:17 AM
  • theBoneyKing Ive actually had my eye on that since you mentioned it in that albums under 15 ratings thread! Interesting, your favorite Midwest Emo album - Im curious, do you not consider The Meadowlands and emo album then? I guess its indie rock overall but a lot of the songs individually and the general approach are very emo to me, it (along with TDAG) was a big part of what prompted me to explore emo more seriously.
    June 22 01:14 AM
  • theBoneyKing Ah, I get it now! Don't think I've heard of Knapsack.
    June 19 03:24 PM
  • theBoneyKing I think you sent a message that got nuked, not sure what song/artist youre talking about.
    June 19 01:56 PM
  • theBoneyKing Yeah Ive been slowly working through the Midwest Emo ?essentials?. Diary is kind of a low 4 but it has some really great tunes. Wasnt aware Enigk had solo material, may peep it.
    June 18 11:20 PM
  • theBoneyKing Thats acceptable I guess. Still, odd that we can agree so much on Trans but not Plans (or the rest I guess). FWIW it took a long time for Plans to grow on me (though I always liked it at a 3.5 level), but I do think it is a bit overrated by some (Ive seen a lot rate it above Trans as their fave which insane). Only ranks as my 4th fave DCFC and maybe 5th Gibbard overall counting Give Up, but Plans is perfect for this time of year imo, such a great sad summer jam.
    June 16 05:21 PM
  • theBoneyKing At least tell me you like What Sarah Said
    June 15 02:21 PM
  • theBoneyKing Sad, all his 2000s output is amazing imho.
    June 15 02:20 PM
  • theBoneyKing Dang not a fan of Plans?
    June 14 04:45 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell heya! you'll have to ask the mods for that tbh, I'm not sure - when it comes to singles (and ig bootlegs (not my bag usually)) i tend to ignore the guidelines if it's noticeable enough, so i guess your call!
    June 10 10:12 PM
  • DoofDoof I think the reason they were omitted is I wanted the album to flow and 'Miner' had to make the cut and I wanted one song off 'Last Place' and that had to be 'Lost Machine' - it would have been too many widescreen latter album tunes ;) Thanks for checking the list though, appreciated
    May 15 07:31 PM
  • Dylan620 It's actually on later today! 8:06pm-10:00pm Sput time
    May 13 03:20 PM
  • Dylan620 Well, technically today on your side of the pond lol
    May 13 03:23 AM
  • Dylan620 I'm running my radio show tomorrow 2006-2200 UTC if you're interested in tuning in! https://wuml.org
    May 13 03:22 AM
  • DoofDoof The rules are any band with less than 100 scrobbles on my LastFM account which has only been running 3 years...so either new bands or ones I just have not listened to too much recently. Enjoying adding to it - in a few years time it should look pretty interesting, like a diary.
    May 8 06:35 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell hey man, that's super ok - dw about it and good luck with your proposal! just let me know when suits :]
    May 8 06:33 PM
  • DoofDoof Occasionally I also take recommendations for bands to feature - and usually I get to those within a month or so
    May 4 04:42 PM
  • DoofDoof I think I mentioned my Grandaddy write up for my Band of the Week list on RYM - I have also done Pavement and others, if you are very bored here it is ;D https://rateyourmusic.com/list/DoofusWainwright/doofs-band-of-the-week/
    May 4 04:41 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell sweet, hop in here and all will be explained: https://discord.gg/thDYV6
    May 4 11:44 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell can neither confirm nor deny I'm afraid ;] but sweet, awesome! are you ok to coordinate via discord? we're running submissions on a server there
    May 4 10:47 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell how probably would that be if the album in question was Atrocity Exhibition (not your top pick I know, but one we're v much short on)?
    May 4 10:39 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell you up for covering a writeup for the AOTD list?
    May 4 06:23 AM
  • Rowan5215 I guess that's true, Smith is something else though. apart from the two albums I love this year I really haven't been in the mood for much modern s*** recently
    April 28 11:52 AM
  • Rowan5215 I haven't listened to Keaton in months to be honest, too much of a bummer lmao
    April 26 12:34 PM
  • SlothcoreSam Hey pheremone, got any recs for round 2 80-85 PUNK COMP. https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1137253
    April 7 11:24 PM
  • Rowan5215 you prolly know this already, but in case you don't there's actually an even better comp than Grand Mal out there! more comprehensive and in better quality, the amount of s*** on this is frankly absolutely ridiculous lmao, give it a peep http://mangonebula.blogspot.com/2016/01/elliott-smith-rarities-archive-moon-is.html
    April 6 12:47 AM
  • Rowan5215 its incredible, have it as the last song on my FABOTH playlist. if he'd recorded the vocals could have been his best song
    April 5 12:27 AM
  • zakalwe Orange Goblin - A Eulogy for the Damned
    March 30 06:21 PM
  • zakalwe Nice I?ll give it a whirl mate. What are you after and I?ll do me best.
    March 30 06:11 PM
  • zakalwe Give us a rec son. Something completely off the wall, atmospheric and melodic.
    March 30 06:00 PM
  • zakalwe I?m still at work mate and it?s eerie. Trains are dead, streets are 80 percent less busy. I absolutely love it but I really do hope we can put this away quickly. Stay safe dude.
    March 27 08:24 PM
  • Mort. Hahaha M8 I've been trying to intercalate from my master's for the last month due to mental health n that so I get it
    March 25 09:25 PM
  • Dylan620 I'm working maintenance at Wegmans my dude! It's inglorious work but still a much-needed change of pace. I graduated uni back in August - still need to find a job in my field, but I have Wegmans to hold me over until then.
    March 4 02:27 PM
  • Rowan5215 hahah summer over here my dude but doesn't feel like it! back with parents breifly, once uni ends... somewhere idk
    February 27 04:28 PM
  • SandwichBubble Honestly, I'd rather be a lower-tier user. Contrib is overrated. ;)
    February 26 09:15 PM
  • Rowan5215 been having a rough one honestly but I'm about to move so thank **** for that. hope ur well lad
    February 23 03:49 AM
  • Rowan5215 bruv have you heard The Autumns? some absolutely incredible slowcore, indie, shoegaze type stuff. the first song on their first EP is extraordinary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csTvIf0cKqI
    February 20 09:35 AM
  • Dylan620 Ah funny you mention Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, I've been in the same boat with I See a Darkness (incredible first three songs notwithstanding) and it grew a bit when I revisited it relatively recently, should probably do so again soon. Life is on the upswing - this past week I left an absolute hellhole of a job for one where I already feel happier and more comfortable. It's giving me a bit more time to listen to music too which is always a good thing. How's life on your side of the pond?
    February 14 01:09 PM
  • Dylan620 I've got a 2019 rec for you - check out Scott Lavene 'Broke'. Great knack for storytelling, loads of charm and wit, consistently engaging both musically and vocally. British as hell.
    February 8 03:23 AM
  • SandwichBubble I dig it, will check!
    January 24 10:30 PM
  • Mort. i have genuinely meant to listen to them forever
    January 8 06:05 PM
  • theBoneyKing Eh, no particular resolutions other than to continue to stop delaying getting into stuff I'm pretty sure I'll love. Also to continue to load up on as much new (to me) stuff while I'm still a student as my listening abilities will undoubtedly be more limited once I graduate.
    January 3 05:03 PM
  • theBoneyKing Happy New Year Phero my man
    January 1 02:37 PM
  • theBoneyKing Sure you like at least some songs on Benji? I can understand being annoyed by songs like Dogs, I Love My Dad, or Richard Ramirez but most of the rest is pretty conventionally beautiful folk, lyrics hit hard. Do you like other Kozelek?
    December 9 07:55 PM
  • theBoneyKing Love The Natural Bridge and Things We Lost in the Fire!
    December 9 01:46 PM
  • SandwichBubble Well, hey right back at you! You missed all the "fun" that happened on sput earlier this week then.
    October 31 11:47 PM
  • SandwichBubble I need context for that last shout, please.
    October 31 04:10 PM
  • Rowan5215 did sputnik eat half your comment? either way yeah idk, I ****in love Visions of Gideon but Mystery is his most paint-by-numbers radio song and the Futile Devices remix is... more unnecessary than anything, especially cos the original is like top 10 Suf. sorryyy
    October 9 11:56 PM
  • Mort. i was about to say club penguin isnt even around anymore you scrub but a quick google shows me that im wrong and theres a big recreation version
    October 1 06:20 PM
  • Winesburgohio found a copy of A Brighter Summer Day at my library but thank you for the offer! can't wait to set some time aside and hoover noodles into my mouth, hoping my slurps don't impede the rich subtleties of dialogue,
    August 29 02:12 AM
  • zakalwe Believe it or not early Opeth stuff and Frank Zappa Hot Rats.
    August 25 10:08 PM
  • zakalwe Very well mate. Yourself?
    August 24 09:35 AM
  • SandwichBubble Soooooo many jams on both albums though, "Flex" is definitely in my top 5 by them, with "Headless in a Beat Motel" off their first at numero uno.
    August 20 01:41 AM
  • SandwichBubble It's pretty damn amazing, for sure. I think I like a few songs off the first album a bit more though.
    August 20 12:37 AM
  • theBoneyKing Slowcore is def my thing! Been digging more of it quite a bit recently too, will keep the album in mind (Ive been working so havent been jamming much but soon Ill be back at school jamming 10 albums a day lol).
    August 7 12:25 AM
  • NorthernSkylark SOTD: Little Feat - Long Distance Love. Dig it?
    July 28 09:40 PM
  • NorthernSkylark sweet rec! Thanks man.
    July 19 10:17 AM
  • Mort. it is my dude, it is . how are you ? ive finished my degree, planning masters applications atm. getting into more indie rock/mathrock and post punk in general, trying to move away from heavier studd
    July 3 07:02 PM
  • Mort. nah never heard of them, will give them a check
    June 10 09:39 AM
  • SandwichBubble One of those I just never tried, on the check list! | Also I'll start on Seam pretty soon, I promise. Just gotta finish another artist's discog first
    May 7 08:48 PM
  • SandwichBubble I'm sure I'll at the very least enjoy them. Very few indie rock bands I don't like and I dig some slowcore every now and then. | Honestly, I'll probably just check the albums and the EP in chronological order. I go whole hog when I check a new artist, makes me feel like I'm hearing the history of a band.
    April 16 11:18 PM
  • SandwichBubble I have not! But I swear it's on the check list (under my rym tag "recommended"). You have my word: next rec I check will be seam.
    April 16 10:59 PM
  • zakalwe Ello dude. The prolapse one rings a bell I?m sure you?ve recommended them to me before. Miserable as a prolapsed arsehole so right up my alley.
    April 13 10:32 PM
  • Dylan620 An American thing apparently :^D
    April 13 09:42 PM
  • Dylan620 I'll get my peanut butter ready, will check tonight or tomorrow... along with your Wussey rec from November :/
    April 13 09:14 PM
  • Dylan620 I was much the same way until I joined the radio station a little over a year ago - one third of the music we play each show has to have been released within the 3 months leading up to the day of the show. It's what made me finally start to keep up with new releases (to some extent)
    April 2 02:49 PM
  • Dylan620 I'll actually give it another spin this morning after this Jessica Pratt album is over! Quiet Signs, one of my AOTYs so far - a bit one-note but it hits that vibe perfectly. Dreamy, minimalistic, almost psychedelic folk with vocals that are as impish as they are strangely enchanting
    April 2 12:32 PM
  • Dylan620 preliminary Meadowlands rating is in - solid to strong 4, more likely to climb than fall. "Thirteen Grand" and "Hopeless" have emerged as additional highlights
    April 1 09:40 PM
  • Dylan620 Loving the full album, can definitely understand it being your all-time favorite
    March 27 08:37 PM
  • Dylan620 Phero my dude, do you have a favorite track on The Meadowlands? "Boys, You Won't" and "She Sends Kisses" are my king and queen as of now
    March 26 10:44 PM
  • zakalwe Ello bro. Yes its still here and its alright, I hope your mind still has the ability to register free thought and is unafraid to question.

  • theBoneyKing Not bad, not bad. Been pretty busy/stressed but getting through it. Music as always provides some respite. Getting into Modest Mouse has been pretty revelatory for me, they?re destined to become a top 10 band for me given enough time.
    March 24 08:19 AM
  • Rowan5215 I lowkey never got into Death Cab so to me that means the guy who's friends with Mark Kozelek's favourite band... still cool tho! I really hope you like that Tenement album, it sounds like a lot of other bands and also nothing else I've ever heard
    March 19 01:00 PM
  • Rowan5215 hell yeah dawg. I did listen to Jim Yoshii like a year back maybe more but nothing really stuck with me, I might have to put it back on the ol phone and see if it unfurls
    March 19 04:13 AM
  • Rowan5215 my dude. have you heard Tenement's album Predatory Headlights? something u would highly fvck with I reckon
    March 17 06:46 PM
  • SandwichBubble If that's the case, try out one of their shorter albums. The 3 albums before it are just as good!
    February 15 10:11 PM
  • SandwichBubble I pride myself on finding new and interesting ways to make people disappointed in me. | If it's any consolation, both of those definitely rule!
    February 8 08:03 PM
  • SandwichBubble Is it okay if I add you on RYM? Also, what's yr RYM?
    February 6 01:46 AM
  • SandwichBubble I was just as surprised when it happened, trust me! Don't worry, I won't let the fame go to my already phat ass.
    February 5 03:27 PM

    December 7 01:38 PM
  • SandwichBubble I liked it more when it came out, but that song does rule.
    December 5 08:02 PM
  • theBoneyKing Deguasser maybe isn't bad so much as it is the one that runs most against my preferences - it is growing on me a bit though. But yeah the whole album has impressed me in a way I never expected it would, especially since I usually fall firmly in line with the Doof/zak crowd when it comes to Sputcore and given that I didn't enjoy Science Fiction.
    December 3 12:17 AM
  • theBoneyKing You're almost to the 1000 mark! Got anything planned for it?
    November 28 04:51 AM
  • Drifter They're awesome. They sound like a transition from Axxess and Ace, both in tone and his voice is still high on a couple songs. I just hope all of his material gets released eventually.
    November 27 11:18 PM
  • Drifter The comp is out. 11 new Lioness Sessions songs. https://songsohia.bandcamp.com/album/love-work-the-lioness-sessions

    November 7 12:58 AM
  • theBoneyKing FOOLISH AND JEALOUS TO START, WE'LL PROBABLY TAKE IT TOO FAR, NO TIME TO SERVICE YOUR CAR, AS DUMB AS DUMB AS WE ARE
    November 6 09:22 PM
  • Repsaj To your comment on my list: a bit of both.
    November 2 08:41 PM
  • mynameischan i got rid of all my weakerthans 5s except left and leaving, although RS could easily replace it i guess
    November 1 12:22 AM
  • ArsMoriendi Remember your rec before Thursday night :P
    October 31 03:47 AM
  • theBoneyKing Funny news, only a few weeks after I first heard of them, a reissue of The Glands' two albums along with a new "lost" album were announced.
    October 11 01:04 AM
  • theBoneyKing Swell is swell.
    October 10 01:00 AM
  • Mort. yeh i missed mine cos i simply couldnt be arsed to make a list!
    October 9 09:37 AM
  • theBoneyKing Alas! I've still got Reconstruction Site/Weakerthans in general on my list, don't you worry.

    October 8 11:20 PM
  • Mort. added you man
    October 6 02:35 PM
  • theBoneyKing Haha, I can get that. I now go on RYM as much as if not more than I do here but at first it was definitely a pain to remember to rate in both places.
    October 5 07:57 PM
  • SandwichBubble Do you know "British Sea Power - The Decline of British Sea Power"? If you do, then I have another rec in mind. | Also, I still need to check ee. RYM won't approve my tracklist edit for it so I'm waiting.
    October 5 04:04 PM
  • theBoneyKing Also, I found your RYM account, lol.
    October 5 04:01 PM
  • theBoneyKing Got a rec for you: The Glands - self-titled. In my recent ratings still but it's some really really good very quintessential early 00s indie. Not mindblowing or anything but it's a super enjoyable listen.
    October 5 03:59 PM
  • zakalwe Highway 61 average. Lol.
    October 1 09:02 AM
  • theBoneyKing At this point I love almost every song but Happy, She Sends Kisses, and 13 Months in 6 Minutes still stand out as a cut above the rest, those three are basically perfect. Hopeless, Ex-Girl Collection, Thirteen Grand, and Boys You Wont arent far behind though.
    September 30 10:58 PM
  • Dylan620 41 is an awesome album, Doof rec'd it to me over at RYM. Will definitely have to check more of their stuff, Too Many Days Without Thinking has my interest piqued
    September 29 02:11 PM
  • theBoneyKing Btw I'm still spinning The Meadowlands on the reg, it's found its way into solid 4.5 territory!
    September 28 07:37 PM
  • theBoneyKing That could be true though I do really love slow/"boring" music pretty often lol. Haven't heard RHP yet so I can't speak to them.
    September 28 07:37 PM
  • theBoneyKing Been thinking of doing a deep dive into some more slowcore, I've barely scratched the surface of the style but I feel like it's gotta hold some albums that would become absolute favorites for me. And yeah I mean the sound of late 90s/early 00s indie in general was just the best, so many gems from that era.
    September 28 05:09 PM
  • theBoneyKing Looked up Art of Fighting and now I'm intrigued, seeing a Phero 4 on something is always exciting lol
    September 28 01:00 AM
  • ZombieToyDuck since you dug When the Pawn... if you are interested to hear more Idler Wheel is her most stripped down and odd album, Extraordinary Machine is her most poppy effort and Tidal is her most bluesy and soulful outing incase you weren't sure what else to check.
    September 27 10:59 PM
  • theBoneyKing I've always been hesitant to do a top 100 because I feel like I'm still very much in the "discovering" phase of my music listening, there are literally thousands of "essential" albums I need to hear; plus I never felt that a top 100 was all that meaningful given how little I knew, but now at 1000 it's the true "top 10%" which I think I truly good enough to warrant mention.
    September 25 01:58 PM
  • theBoneyKing I wanted to do a big list, maybe a top 100 but it doesnt look like that will happen now.
    September 25 12:11 PM
  • rabidfish Yea man, both EP hit straight to the feels goshdarn
    September 24 10:53 PM

    August 31 11:43 AM
  • Dylan620 I'd been meaning to check Nux Vomica for ages but I probably would've put it off even longer if you hadn't rec'd it to me, big thanks man. "Not Yet" has already solidified itself as one of my favorite songs I've discovered this year, alongside Midnight Choir's "Muddy River of Loneliness" and Soccer Mommy's "Scorpio Rising"
    August 7 02:21 PM
  • theBoneyKing I study linguistics. Admittedly not the most lucrative field lol but I love it. Got two more years of undergrad left. What do you study?
    August 4 06:57 PM
