  • OmairSh Yeah man I can totally empathise with ya, everything's virtual and I'm tired of it tbh. But it's the new norm. Sorry to hear about your parents, hoping they're able to stay healthy and safe. Time's are really crazy. Pretty much the same at my end. I used to go for improv and acting classes, and now they're organising them online, so that's some activity at least. Otherwise lots of music hah
    May 30 07:05 PM
  • OmairSh Heyaaaa dude, long time no speak, how've you been? How's life been under quaranting?
    May 30 04:50 AM
  • manosg Yeah, let's hope so man. Also, all the best for your parents. Haven't seen mine for like a month and a half because they're old too.
    May 6 12:00 PM
  • manosg Thanks for that, dude. Really solid album. When I saw 1972 and Netherlands, I instantly thought of Focus. Great guitar and rhythm section, and an awesome sense of groove. Life in pandemic is wild man, especially with an 8 month old baby in the house. Tomorrow is the first day where we will be able to move more freely in Greece and I can't wait to go swimming again. How are things in Chile?

    July 23 10:00 PM
  • Friday13th Hey man, if you have time to vote in the elimination round that would be great, especially Mercury Tree v. Unreal City (tied right now)
    July 20 04:03 PM
  • Bedex Digging Chico Buarque now man, thanks for the rec!
    June 27 03:52 PM
  • Friday13th Nice, well good luck!
    May 25 03:44 AM
  • SharkTooth You gotta check out their latest album then, it's ridiculously good
    May 24 04:05 PM
  • Friday13th I'm going to work at a mid-sized law firm and do a lot of civil litigation like Family Law Employment Law etc. I do also like business/contract law and estate planning so we'll see if I get some of that in there. What are you interested in?
    May 24 03:42 PM
  • SharkTooth yo ever heard of Soft Machine?
    May 24 01:45 AM
  • Jethro42 Yeah i'm surprised nobody took that one, me the first. Man, take that chance, you risk to winning it out! It was my third choice, and my first two choices were a tossing coin, really. Not A Good Sign passed as a second one in the last minute...
    May 11 07:34 PM
  • Jethro42 music is inflated with layers of sound in places*
    May 11 07:25 PM
  • Jethro42 i'm not gonna lie, that Wobbler album was one of my nominee, but I thought it could be hard to get into for a non initiated. i revisited it today, and man what an album. it's a kinda good tribute to the vintage era. It's a bit dark but it's lightened by flutes and analog keyboards and mellotron. music is layered with layers of sound in places, but it alterns with smooth and melodic passages. it must be their most engaged album so far. I regret to not choosing that one, now.
    May 11 07:23 PM
  • Jethro42 The last Wobbler is gorgeous too. Or Sky Architect - their debut or third one... Or maybe something from the 70s; Cathedral - Stained Glass Stories. Come on mate, be our 14th contestant, so we could go ahead...
    May 11 06:44 PM
  • Jethro42 Ooops, for some reason, my sentence is not complete...i meant P.ush and Profits...I dig that album. Do you remember Fabio Zuffanti, La Quarta Vittima? You heard the first track and liked it a lot. Or check out Not A Good Sign, their first or last album. Try them and join us!
    May 11 12:19 AM
  • Jethro42 Unfolded Like Suitcase is most likely well known in my opinion. But otherwise, i think you can be safe with them. I dig Push
    May 11 12:04 AM
  • Jethro42 Hey man, I did read that you haven't found a nominee. I don't know if it's legit to rec you one. probably not...What do you think...?
    May 10 10:51 PM
  • Friday13th lol you've got some time with a likely delayed start tomorrow but GET IT TOGETHER, old man! ;)
    May 10 03:48 AM
  • Friday13th Hey man, are you going to hop on the prog tourney?
    May 10 12:32 AM
  • manosg hahaha true!
    April 28 04:42 AM
  • manosg Hey dude, yeah it's not bad but can't say I prefer this one of the the debut version. Ritchie seems to have a weird fixation about the song though. It was the reason he left Purple, included it in the debut and re-recorded it lol.
    April 27 03:39 PM
  • Jethro42 Birdstone's songwriting is close to perfection to me. It shows lots of variations into each songs. It's never totally stoner, never totally blues, and it's real honest and original music. I hope you've listened to the little introduction (''Seer'') that fits with ''Salazar''.
    March 22 08:35 PM
  • Jethro42 I'm surprised you didn't like it that much. 3.5 is good though. Every tracks speak to me a lot, and my ears became too sensible when it comes to heavy stuff. This makes an exception. Did you listen to it more than once?
    March 17 06:20 PM
  • Jethro42 Hey SirLord, try this, a bluesy hard rock with cool soft passages. You don't need to like blues to enjoy, but if you don't, you will. 5 it.https://birdstoneband.bandcamp.com/album/seer
    March 9 09:33 PM
  • SharkTooth btw check Mythic Sunship - Another Shape of Psychedelic Music
    January 31 07:46 PM
  • SharkTooth just checked it it's good
    January 31 07:35 PM
  • Davil667 Damn, just dipped into the first three tracks of Long Live Rock'n'Roll for some seconds and immediately stopped. This sounds amazing! I'm totally hooked and will instantly get a copy for sure.
    January 25 10:55 AM
  • SharkTooth too busy to catch up with music, I've never really left the site, just haven't really commented in a while
    January 22 05:50 PM
  • Davil667 Ah, thx a lot for the reminder buddy, was too busy indeed with checking out other stuff but it's definitely on my list. Rising is among the best and most rewarding records I've heard in quite a long time.
    January 22 09:29 AM
  • AnimalsAsSummit cool, and thankyou!
    January 8 08:19 PM
  • AnimalsAsSummit yo. just thought id throw you another link. my band put out a new release not too long ago, its proggier territory than some of our more recent releases - https://millicentwaffles.bandcamp.com/album/the-rain-gods
    January 4 05:21 PM
  • manosg Awesome! Will jam and let you know.
    December 19 07:23 PM
  • manosg Cool, I can see that your approval rate got a little bump. And yeah jazz fusion is not my cup of tea per se but you know that I'm always up for some nice grooves dude :)
    December 18 07:31 PM
  • manosg Hey dude, that sucks. But yeah sure, just report it to the Meds thread ("For the Meds") in the forums and they will have a look at it. Trying to jam some 2018 albums atm and once I'm finished I'll check Hancock's album asap. m/
    December 18 10:51 AM
  • Jethro42 It's my pleasure, mate. First of, The album titles usually use a capital letter for every words, so in that logic, ''heptade'' would have a capital letter. However, an heptade is by definition seven levels of consciousness, so no reason to capitalize it. As for the ''L'', it's definitely a capital letter. So yes, in real life, it's ''L'heptade''.
    November 15 11:08 PM
  • manosg Yup, it's a great album. Funny that you ask me now because a couple of weeks ago I was reading an old Billy Cobham interview where he stated that he perceived the album as a somewhat failed experiment, an album that was made for the money but was full of guitar noodling and nothing more than that.
    November 13 06:42 AM
  • AnimalsAsSummit new album out if you get the time: https://kinggreenied.bandcamp.com/album/opio

  • Jethro42 Omg!!! They are reborn from the ashes, that was unsxpected. I didn't know about their EP in 2016 either. Their new LP has the same old composer/arranger guy, the bassman apparently. I listened to the first few minutes, and it's already a 70's prog sounding. Thank you for showing me this!
    October 15 08:47 PM
  • Jethro42 Hey SirLord, I can suggest you an entry; Fabio Zuffanti - La Quarta Vittima from which you've listened to the first song and dug it. Here's the full album. It's the first one on the list;https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=fabio zuffanti la quarta vittima
    May 28 08:00 PM
  • Friday13th lol a loophole it would be! Haha I love that musical, but it's the furthest thing from obscure.
    May 28 07:02 PM

    February 24 12:18 AM
  • Jethro42 Dude, try Quella Vecchia Locanda. They only released 2 albums which are bloody brillant. Often laid back, there are great interplays between violin/guitar and piano. Memorable melodies too. Don't miss them!
    February 10 10:33 PM
  • SharkTooth Ye
    February 6 05:36 PM
  • Jethro42 Thanks for your kind words, but writing reviews requires a minimum of method and discipline, and I don't know if I still have it. Would I be able to go right to the point, and adding couple of informative sentences if needed ? ..Could I be convincing?...It's been a while since my last one, and I don't know if I could find some passion again. That being said, keep up the good work, buddy.
    February 2 01:26 AM
  • Jethro42 Yeah, synthesizers are prominent on that album, mellotron included. There are also interesting sax parts, just as you like them. If ever you want to listen to the whole album, go to youtube and type Fabio Zuffanti - La Quarta Vittima. Album slays. I'd like to review it, but it's very demanding for me. Will see.
    February 1 11:47 PM
  • Jethro42 If you don't mind Italian lyrics, try this album...or at least the first track. It's modern prog rock inspired by the 70's prog monsters. It's an easy listening with clever arrangements.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKOK_SxoguI
    January 30 12:11 AM
  • Jethro42 I tried to like Ozrik's music couple years ago, and now that I listen to Jurrassic Shift, I remember why I failed to get interested. I don't dig their sort of spacey/electronic jams that tends to drag. They leave me on my appetite. I'm waiting for climaxes or something to happen, but they remain rather linear, and songs are falling flat. It's my experience with the band. I can get your Gong reference...partially at least.
    January 30 12:06 AM
  • Titan im not familiar enough with Triumph's discog to rec to you.....and as far as Journey goes, I haven't been listening to them at all actually, just going through some albums that Iknow and rated them
    January 4 11:16 PM
  • Titan indeed buddy, a perhaps i should jam them more often than i do
    January 4 11:09 PM
  • manosg Not crazy about it but nice song nonetheless. Do you get some Santana vibes from the song or is it just me dude?
    December 31 11:48 AM
  • manosg I'd say pretty essential if you're into the more experimental/psychedelic side of Scorps or even The Jimi Hendrix Experience. There are some pretty awesome moments in Earthquake, Uli is a legend.
    November 19 08:44 AM
  • Jethro42 I only know couple of their hits ('Wall Street', 'I'm Not in Love', 'The Things We Do For Love'), but it's not enough to get an idea of the band. Will eventually try their early 70s stuff to see. Thanks dude.
    November 18 09:54 PM
  • manosg Thanks for the heads up dude. I'd love to participate but I don't think I'll be able to keep up with the pace of the tourney at the moment due to work obligations. Thanks again though.
    September 12 07:32 PM
  • e210013 Thanks SirLord. Jethro has told me that the same before. I'm going to think about it and certainly I'm going to participate. And you're right. Quarteto 1111 is a great choice, for sure. Anyway, thanks again.

  • ArsMoriendi Check my latest list and pitch me something.
    June 26 08:45 PM
  • manosg Really curious and pumped too! To be honest though, something didn't feel right while watching the clips from their live shows. Ronnie is very talented but singing Dio's material is an impossible task. Think he's gonna be great though if Ritchie writes songs based on his voice.
    April 30 07:21 AM
  • Titan Flying Colors - Second Nature.......jam that album a few times and tell me what you think.....i believe that you will enjoy it......Portnoy side project, but a good one

  • SharkTooth plus if you managed to check out Bring Me The Horizon(something I never expected you to listen to), then there's no reason for you not to check that album out
    March 2 10:39 PM
  • SharkTooth While Darkthrone is usually a black metal band, The Underground Resistance isn't black metal in the slightest. It's more along the lines of speed metal/classic heavy metal
    March 2 10:37 PM
  • SharkTooth also you should check out Darkthrone's The Underground Resistance. It's basically a modern homage to classic heavy metal and it's amazing
    March 2 09:02 PM
  • Titan bro, i hope i didn't insult you in any way.......just kidding with you for the record

  • Friday13th Dude, that Earth and Fire is great! Nice find.
    September 13 12:25 AM
  • Friday13th Cool, I'll make sure to listen to it tomorrow. The proggiest Jefferson Airplane song I've heard is "Rejoyce" which is a Grace Slick composition. Incredible stuff!

As I know that you liked his other works and this is another great piece, almost unknown, I thought that you might be interested on it. Cheers and tel me something before.

  • e210013 Thanks, man. I hope have time to take a look on it, still this week.
    August 29 09:55 PM
  • e210013 Sorry, but I was in vacation till now. I listen to the track very carefully and this is really a great song, perhaps one of their best with fantastic lyrics of Pablo Neruda, I think. As I can see, this track belongs probably to their best album, "Alturas De Machu Pichu", according with the majority of the members of Progarchives. Thanks for your help, buddy. By the way, I put the third part of the trilogy of Josť Cid, right now. Cheers.

  • Friday13th Ouch! haha, I'm optimistic as a spring chicken right now, but maybe I'll be equally jaded in a few years. My law school doesn't seem to have an overly competitive environment, but who knows what it will be like as finals approach.
    August 23 08:08 PM
  • JamieTwort I don't consider much of W.A.S.P's material to be glam tbh, even in their earlier days they were a lot heavier and rawer than most of the glam scene. If I was to consider them glam though, I'd say they're probably my favourite band out of the whole scene.
    August 23 07:56 PM
  • Friday13th dang, it's 3 years here. I'm sure the experience is worth it though.
    August 23 03:28 AM

It sometimes happened to me as well in my early years on sput, a time where I was more ''active'', more visible and more optimistic on here. • BADBOY thanks i will have to check those out!
    August 11 12:57 AM
  • BADBOY i see you also like rush, whats a good rush album for the beginner like me?
    August 11 12:04 AM
  • Jethro42 Yes Eskaton is pretty much innovative and melodic. Lots of instrumental/vocal hooks in there. Way more accessible than Magma too. And take note that it's all sung in French (I think so, I'll check it out more deeply). Glad you liked it, sir.
    August 10 10:59 PM
  • ArsMoriendi Hmmm is their first album any good? I'm considering checking it.
    August 7 02:10 AM
  • ArsMoriendi It was interesting. Sounds like Can if Can can less experimental. The second half was better than the first half in my opinion.
    August 7 02:02 AM
  • Jethro42 Jeff Wayne let me pretty much indifferent. The drum machine everywhere, the repetitiveness and the spoken words don't help. Thanks anyway.
    August 4 11:32 PM
  • Jethro42 Well, try Roller, and if you don't dig it, I can't help you. Try the other records but be aware, you can fall into an horror movie soundtrack. The second half of Suspiria is interesting, finally. They seem to stick with symphonic prog. If you get more patient than me and find some treasures by them, just let me know.
    July 30 11:11 PM
  • Jethro42 **** Suspiria, it's a bunch of random noises. It shows that it's one of their soundtracks. Don't waste your time with them if you want my opinion. Roller contains some good tracks imo. I don't know about the rest, and i'm not hurry to discover them.
    July 30 10:07 PM
  • Jethro42 Goblin are not my cup of tea. They're famous for puting out horror movie soundtracks. Album Roller is a rare exception to that. Band is centered around the keyboardist. It's spacey at places, and they sometimes flirt with funk, so take a look at Roller. Suspiria is, according to the band itself, their best work.
    July 30 09:43 PM
  • Jethro42 I've edited my comment in the APP's thread ;)
    July 30 12:30 AM
  • Jethro42 You're so right, I didn't pay attention. Better chance the next time haha
    July 29 11:48 PM
  • Jethro42 In case that list would interest you. It's about music of Brazilhttp://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=168446
    July 29 11:27 PM
  • Frippertronics I wouldn't know. My general suggestion is to go in chronological order to see how they progressed from a no wave group to something of a post-rock group. However, I think it'd be best if you checked out either Children of God or My Father.
    July 13 04:49 PM
  • Snide Hey dude it's Snide, would you be down to jam my debut? - http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=167917
    July 10 01:19 AM
  • Jethro42 Thanks for that link. Song is delighful. The style reminds me of Phideaux, especially in the vocal melodies. Well, instrumentally too, but here it's more busy. I'm adding the album into my ''to listen to'' list.
    July 2 05:46 PM
  • Jethro42 Yeah, PFM are the kings of Italy. I just noticed Oregon has a huge discog. I'm gonna try something by them sometime soon.
    July 1 01:04 AM
  • Jethro42 No, never heard of Oregon. Speaking of jazz fusion, One Shot are supposed to be fantastic. I have yet to listen to them. I'd also suggest you Area - Crac. And if you have the time, there is also Deus Ex Machinas. What a musicianship they have. All like Area, it's an Italian formation.
    July 1 12:20 AM
  • Frippertronics I know, I know. My personal favorites of Sylvian's are Brilliant Trees and Secrets of the Beehive. However since you're looking for something on a large scale, Gone to Earth may be the one to check first. Half of it's song-based, the other half is ambient instrumentals. Fripp plays on the album.
    June 30 05:49 PM
  • Frippertronics well s*** idk about "epic" or whatever and proggy woggy stuff, but check David Sylvian's albums. Also, C O L T R A N E
    June 30 09:57 AM
  • ArsMoriendi Can you check my 2nd to last list? I feel like you'd have a good pitch for it :P

    June 28 05:28 PM
  • SharkTooth I'll get to that eventually. Been jamming YG's new album for the past week

  • AnimalsAsSummit New stuff out if you're interested! - millicentwaffles.bandcamp.com/album/my-lords-poison-in-darkfire-illusion
    June 24 11:02 PM
  • manosg His choice of vocalists is always spot on. I think the Rainbow songs work quite well but the DP ones sound a bit off. I loved watching Ritchie playing this material again but I expected it to be a bigger deal. A bigger stage, a better light show, etc. It's a shame they won't give 10-15 shows in order for him to work more on playing that stuff again and perform even better as a group.
    June 20 07:14 PM
  • manosg For sure! Have you checked any vids from Blackmore's Rainbow on Monsters of Rock?
    June 20 07:36 AM
  • manosg Not bad. Song structure kinda reminded me of Budgie and I liked the guitar tone; it has that warm Gibson sound. Didn't love it though, I expected a bigger bang with that build up lasting for 4 minutes. What's your opinion, man?
    June 19 08:21 AM
  • NeroCorleone80 No. Haven't really been into this style of rock for a while. I'm getting tired of all the bombast of most 70s hard rock.
    June 14 10:56 PM
  • manosg Same here, man. Trying to cope with petty everyday issues that have non-petty consequences haha. I can tell you that though; for me, college was probably the happiest/most carefree period of my life. After that, you have to start finding ways for paying bills, dealing with s***ty people in a real-life environment and figuring your life on a personal level, overall.
    June 2 07:20 AM
  • manosg Cheap Thrills definitely needs a review but I'm not so sure if I'll do it in the near future, dude. Actually, when I reviewed Kozmic Blues, Cheap Thrills was also an option but I just enjoy Kozmic Blues more. So if you want to go for it, it would be great. How's college treating you?

  • Jethro42 In my very first years*
    May 25 11:19 PM
  • Jethro42 Yeah in my very first year in sput, I was kind of more open minded user, approaching indie rock, metal such as SOAD, Psychotic Waltz, Symphony X and even the music of Deftones got me interested. I still can dig a bunch of their songs. White Pony is the only one I rated a favorable rating to. Chino has a phenomenal vocal capacities. I re-invite you to try Screaming Headless Torsos, man. Freedom Bremner is their singer.
    May 25 11:16 PM
  • Jethro42 While I admit Dio got a powerful voice, it's not a singer I particularly enjoy. Byron has a high pitch vocal him too, but nothing too special. Gillan can reach a certain number of octaves, and he is the one of the bunch that can surpass Plant at some point. Farner has a beautiful vocals too. I don't know Grand Funk Railroad that much. I might change that. I think my top 3 singers would be Mike Patton, Chino Moreno (even if I don't listen to their music anymore) and Freedom Bremner.
    May 25 10:54 PM
  • Jethro42 Oh how lunatic I can be! No, not yet, but it won't be long.
    May 14 02:22 PM
  • Jethro42 No, what's that? A band or an album title??
    May 14 01:12 AM
  • manosg oh it's very very very good. You're gonna have a bit of an issue with the shrieking vox but the instrumentation is incredible. Also, I know that you love prog and the album is basically sci fi thrash/prog so you'll at least find it interesting. Think of it as an extreme modern version of Rush's 2112.
    May 13 06:43 AM
  • Jethro42 I'm gonna give it a shot, thanks!
    May 7 10:50 PM
  • Friday13th F you I won't rate what you tell me! hehe Of all the sacred cows to knock over, what better place to start than nu-metal? Famous Last Words is next on my jam list, bro!
    May 5 05:51 AM
  • danielcardoso 17, buddy :]Now that I looked it up, I sort of remember it but it had a different name here. I don't remember your guy in the pic at all though.
    May 3 11:19 AM
  • danielcardoso Lol no, was that any good?
    May 2 04:29 PM
  • danielcardoso Hey buddy, what is your profile pic about? : )
    May 1 03:44 PM
  • e210013 Sorry, but only now I can answer to you. I was a little busy until now.I know this, man. Especially Godspeed deserve to be known. When I have more free time, in the summer, I've the intention of check them, probably both.By the way, as I know that you like very much of Supertramp, especially "Crime Of The Century", I can tell that I put the review of their album "Fampus Last Words" right now. Perhaps you want take a look to it.
    April 29 09:27 AM
  • Friday13th oh yeah you told me. No big deal.
    April 25 10:45 PM
  • Friday13th Hey Gentleman, I'm closing match 8 so get on it b4 tomorrow!
    April 25 10:35 PM
  • Jethro42 Really? Shame on me! I'm surprised myself. It's like for Pink Floyd; I don't find much to commenting in there, it seems. Don't ask me why. I guess everything have been said before haha
    April 23 12:09 AM
  • Frippertronics jam deakin
    April 19 02:54 AM
  • Friday13th I'm jamming right now. It definitely has a more 80s synth feel, but the songwriting is still good.
    April 18 10:19 PM
  • Friday13th Hey have you checked Roger Hodgson's In the Eye of the Storm? I'm reading good things, some saying it's the best he's done besides Crime.
    April 18 05:52 PM
  • TwigTW Nice Supertramp review MrSirLordGentleman. Forgive me for being a boor about the commas. The truth is everyone over uses them--including myself. :-)
