Review Summary: A great cd for those sunday drives. It'll make both reggae and punk rock fanes happy. Slighlty Stoopid is: Miles Doughty - Guitar, Bass, Vocals Kyle McDonald - Guitar, Bass, Vocals Ryan Moran- Drums Oguer Ocon -Congas, Percussion, Harp, Vocals

This is a favorite cd of mine. Slighlty Stoopid uses a lot of new sounds on this cd, turning away from the three piece punk band of which they started as. And the story goes like this:

Everything You Need- This song starts out with a "chill like" drum beat. Then comes the clean guitar. The band plays the same riff on all parts of the song. It gives a relaxed feeling. Then the lyrics are almost rapping but they pull it off. I give this song a 4/5

Officer- This track tells the story of a party gone wrong. A buzzkill by the fuzz, if you will. "it all started late on a saturday night, said who's got the spliffs and whos got the pint." What a way to start a song. the song reps the stereotypical image of Slighlty Stoopid. Which is of course, the ole' gonja green. The song is catchy and it'll scare the hell out of your mom. 4/5.

Questionable- Returning to their punk begining, questionable is another song about the men in blue. it flows fast and before you know it its gone. Not a favorite of mine. 2.5/5

Running With a Gun- Displaying the hip-hop/ dub side of the band. The song again about crime. The voice over at the begining is a cop saying " were you trying to be a hero, if you try it again you'll be a dead hero." The song has a suspencfull beat and guitar riff. Great dub work as well. 3.5/5

Killin' Me Deep Inside- A lot of dub scratches and voice effects. If you are talented, you can actually get the message out of the lyrics. But the song is fun. It has a chill reggae feel.
3/5

Perfect Gentelmen- Again to the punk roots. But this time, the guitar soloing stands out and its runs more smoothly with the vocals. They accomplished much by switching styles from the song before. 4/5

Wicked Rebel- The song starts with some piano riff. The piano subs for the guitar rythm throughout the song. The song, of course, involves the fuzz and dat power flower. 4/5

Sweet Honey- The running arpegio guitar part with the dubbed soloing is gives the most chill and relaxed feeling of the whole cd. This song displays the other side of the band. If its not pot, it's sex. Plain and simple. 3/5

Punk Rock Billy- A fun punk song. The lyrics just talk about this punk rock billy character and it seems to lead to nowhere. but it doesnt really need to. 2.5/5

World Goes Round- It starts with heavily distorted bass as if to come out of the blown out speaker of a 69' corvette. The vocals are heavily echoed and give a feel as if at a live show. It's slow flowin song. 2/5

Wiseman- it's starts with the reverb up to eleven. Then a horn part which sets the tone. This is a very reggae part vocally. By that I mean that you have no idea what he is saying. But the song's dubbing works with it. A favorite of mine. 4.5/5

Leaving On a Jetplane- Covering that old rock classic, Slightly Stoopid totally changes the mood of the song when the add their reggae styles to it. It was a tough task to take down, but they prospored. 4/5

Mellow Mood- The song is exactly what the title says. The lyrics are some love song. Pretty cheesy, who cares about the lyrics. They fit with the, dare i say it, mellow mood.

Collie Man- It starts with acoustic guitar. It gives a sad and yet happy feel. As if a new begining. "it doesnt really matter as long as the music goes on." Yet, they go back to the main topic, that magic cannibus. 4.5/5

Decent review. Slightly Stoopid is a great band who have somehow flown under the radar, which is odd considering their obvious similarities to Sublime. A very good CD.
