Little Denmark does not have lots of metal bands but that doesn’t mean that they have bad metal bands, the Danish people has created bands like the death-metal band called Konkhra and thrash-metal bands like Artillery. One thrash-metal band caught my interest when I stumbled upon their band name, Invocator, I thought that this was a cool band name so I decided to check this band out. I looked on the internet and found their homepage, I downloaded some samples and I was pretty hooked. But when I found their whole albums I got pretty disappointed, I thought that their music was quite repetitive and it had no real ‘’magic’’, anyway, I finally found their album called Weave The Apocalypse and said to myself that this must be an awesome album. The first track starts and my interest is starting to grow, I switched to the next track and suddenly my interest started to drop. No, not again! This album had basically the same material as the previous albums I have heard from Invocator and I will now give you the reasons why I didn’t like this album.

This is the story, the album is called Weave The Apocalypse. Progressive retro thrash-metal is perhaps the best way to describe this band, pretty interesting and eye-catching words don’t you think" But you must remember this: Never judge a band by just reading facts, look at the album covers or listen others opinions. You have to hear the music before you can judge it, perhaps you have wasted your time or you might have struck upon gold. I encountered sand instead of gold hear, this was not a horrible album though, I found a few things that I liked so we start with those first. Okay, I thought that this album had a really bad and aggressive attitude once you have heard the songs, I got the feeling that this album wanted to beat you’re a** at any time if possible. Aggressiveness, bad attitude and plain heaviness should be one way to describe this album; most songs are quite sluggish, heavy and stocked with heavy riffing but… (Looks like we fell onto the negatives right away) The vocals had no variety at all, it was just this juicy grunting and this made the all the songs very repetitive and boring, most songs didn’t even had some sort of climax in my opinion. There were hardly any lead work, there was basically just heavy rhythm sections all the time, the only exception were some skilfully played solos. The album had plenty of riffs which were heavy and they did have some variety, but when time goes by you will notice that there are not going to be a bigger change among the guitar work. One thing I slightly liked was the bass, usually I complain a lot when bands don’t give their bassist any space but here you can notice some tricky and half-catchy bass lines or solos. A second thing that I liked was the drum patterns, basically all drum patterns were fitting in the songs, and sudden bursts of double bass rang out time to time and the level of drumming was just above average.

My final verdict: Almost below good in overall rating, why" Because of the almost lifeless material, repetitive song patterns and poor vocals, that’s why I think this was nearly a poor album. I have no idea why I thought this was one of their most successful work but I take that back though, I think this was not one of their best albums. Fans to this band will surly like this album but this is not an album that I would recommend to just any body, thrash-metal fans might have a look at this but I don’t know if even thrashers would find this as a great album. I am very close to almost hurt this album, I got no personal favourites from this album so this album will be given a weak: 2.5/5

Pros
+ Some interesting riffs
+ The album felt quite heavy
+ A small plus for the cool album name (Weave The Apocalypse)

Cons
- Repetitive material
- Hardly any lead work, just rhythm guitars
- No signs of life in the grunting vocals
- Every song basically had no energy or climax
- Poor variety in the song patterns

Recommended Tracks (These are not my favourite tracks)
-- Land Of Misery
-- Through The Nether To The Sun
-- Doomed To Be
