Review Summary: "When the underground thrives"
Being a versatile artist is something that many wished they could pull off but also something that very few artist actually manage to do well and convincingly.
Enter Claustrophobia and their latest 2026 release New Sun Rising. Spanning a whole palette of sounds over mutitude release their latest project is a two song Black Metal EP with truely demonic vocals and awesome musicianship. The vocals brings in an atmosphere of despair and rage rolling over melodic triumphant metal without singing a single audioable vocal throughout. The riffs have an almost punky feel to them which gives the songs an urgent and relentless vibe overall. The musicianship is tight as hell and the songs fly by and leaves you in that "*** that was awesome" mode, which only leaves you wanting a lot more!
The end of The Last War has a somber and melalcholic feel to it but I honestly really wished it would explode into a full on Black Metal assault instead as all the pieces are there but as it is it leaves the EP on a haunting note.
I would also love to hear how more audioable vocals combined with the already existing vocals would sound on future songs as I honestly think Claustrophobia is on to something pretty danm unique with their flavour of Black Metal on New Sun Rising.
Highly Recommended!
