Release Date: 2001 | Tracklist

Sevendust is a nu-metal band. A better one, at that. They have had great hits, such as Praise, Black, Dead Set and others. They released their self titled CD in 1997, and my favorite CD of theirs, Animosity in 2001. They have released others, but I am going to review Animosity. They have a very unique sound, mainly with the vocals coming from frontman Lajon Witherspoon. He puts so much emotion into his songs.

Sevendust (for this CD):
Lajon Witherspoon: Vocals
Clint Lowery (now with the band Dark New Day): Guitar and Vocals
John Connally: Guitar
Vincent Hornsby: Bass
Morgan Rose: Drums and Vocals

Sound:
The sound of Sevendust is always a good one, especially on this CD. They have created 13 mind blowing tracks, with some rapping, some hard rock, and even a few ballads in there. The rap-sounding songs such as T**s On A Boar and Praise are done well. The hard rock songs, such as Dead Set and Damaged, are sung well and have catchy riffs done for them. The harmonics are used well, and add to the whole feeling that Animosity was meant to be. A little more solos would have done wonders for this band, but it is nu-metal, but a better nu-metal band. The drums show very well on Follow and Xmas Day, the drum beat on those songs will get stuck in your head. Clint Lowery is an amazing gutiarist, and he is now with the band Dark New Day, but has done a superb job while with Sevendust.

Lyrics:
All I have to say about Lajon's lyrics is that they kick major ass. He sings very well and puts meaning into his songs. Xmas Day and Live Again are some of the ballads, you also have Angel’s Son, which is about the lead singer from the band Snot. Follow, is another great example of vocals. That song features Aaron Lewis from Staind, and it adds to the effect of the song, and puts some very raw emotion to that song. The lyrics are great, and when you have three of the five members of the band that can sing, you will have good vocals, as long as the lyricist is doing his job well, and I think Lajon did a superb job on this record.

Impression:
If you like Sevendust at all, this is their album to have. It is money well spent, considering that all of the songs are really catchy. Lajon has done a very good job. I think this is their best CD to date, although many will disagree with me and say Seasons is their best CD. I own Seasons, and it got repetitive really, really quickly, and it doesn’t have the same sound that this album produces.

Recommended songs:
T.O.A.B.
Praise
Xmas Day
Follow
Live Again
I give this a 4/5. It is great, but can get repetitive at times, but defiantly a step in the right direction for Sevendust. Hope you like the review.

Animosity is easily accessible, but wholly satisfying as well....

It's sad to see only barely any comments on this review. Follow, Live Again, Shine, Praise, Crucified, Trust, Angels Son...so many amazing songs on this album.
