Review Summary: Spew forth hate from your primitive mind.
Lets face it: there’s many problems within brutal death metal. A distinct lack of innovation, an eye rolling amount of misogyny, and a small group of bands towering over most of their copycat peers. It truly depends on how much you love bdm’s tropes. So imagine a modern band taking all of its flaws and distilling it into an awful listening experience.
Rotting Carcass, where to start. A duo based out of Texas, you would think they would have a lot of great influences to take from. No. Their debut starts with a 6 minute sample that is so painfully edgy it would make edgelords cream themselves. When we get to the actual music, it has potential, but needs a lot of polish. The production is very much demo-style, with the drums sounding like wet boxes. Practically a sin to neuter the drums that bad. The vocals clearly want to be Korey Arnold from Rotting, which is okay.
The production is extremely flat, harkening back to Deaden but worse. There’s backing vocals a la Lividity, but cut through the production like a knife. For the riffs and grooves, its good, but is buried under the flat production. It surprises me that we see "Last Days Of Humanity, Rotting, Impetigo, Artery Eruption, Fluids, n more !!”, but its clear the vocalists recorded a few vocal lines and called it a day. I can’t even put into words how bad the samples are, it takes you out of the groove the band supposingly wants you in.
A slop of 90’s-2000 bdm/grind influences ramped to it’s highest extreme. The samples of Torsofuck, the production of Deaden, the themes of Lividity, the vocals of Rotting, the attitude of Anal Cunt, and none of the skill to make it work. These guys are really not as cool as they think they are. If you want a good sample of this whole album, listen to the song “RxCx Will F*ck Your B*tch (Ft. Accursed Womb)”. Have fun.
