Review Summary: anime catgirl titties, time to listen to the album.
I don't like Vtubers, and i really try to keep out of the whole sphere. Only things i have heard from their music is pretty damn bad (mainly from Mori Callope). I'm surfing the web for bad music and i find Vtuber death metal? How bad could it be?
Well, the first song is a dull piano intro that goes on for too long. An entire 3 and a half minutes. The absolute best thing about this album is that it's instrumental. The main problem is common with Deathcore. Overproduction. When its not in meathead chugging mode, it usually feels dull. kind of feels like the guitars could use more punch. The few solos are buried deep in the mix, which is a strange touch.
Riff wise, it ranges from decent to pretty good. on tracks like 666PM, there's nice riffs and a cool breakdown. The melodic riffs come off as boring, but maybe that's a me problem. When she slows down for some heavier riffing, its clear she knows what's up. But the riffs are mostly just generic and hard to latch onto. It seems like a collection of half bakes ideas at times, especially early on. For some reason she sprinkles in some ambient moments that butcher the pacing of the songs.
Don't get it twisted: this coomer vtuber knows death metal. But I don't think she quite knows what makes it truly great. There's some great deathcore breakdowns, and its clear that she needs to take some more notes. As weird as it is, if she decides to go down the death metal route, then i can see improvement. I don't have high hopes and i'm certainly not gonna seek anything more by this person, but its a thought.
This is pretty generic modern death metal as a whole. Cool riffs and breakdowns, but largely very, very forgettable. If you're a rabid Vtuber fan, give this a shot. Everyone else could pass and not miss a thing.
