Review Summary: Celebrate Pleasant Living on This Couch and breathe Tiny Moving Parts Deep in the Blue Swell
Tiny Moving Parts has worn the trail. They have achieved what could be described as the "Midwest Emo Constant." They have exactly what you would expect: twinkly guitars, soaring choruses, melancholic breakdowns, and that feeling of being warm in the winter. The Minnesota trio have honed their craft and polished their method and vision to such a degree that it's probably effortless at this point. So, what's left to say about 'Deep in the Blue'? Honestly, not much. If you've heard a Tiny Moving Parts album since their breakout with 'Celebrate,' you kinda know what you're going to get. There are some brief moments that add layers to their sound: harmonizing vocals (which isn't new for them), keyboard synths (which aren't pronounced enough to be memorable), and plucked strings (at the end of 'Listen to Your Favorite Songs,' which is coincidentally the best song on the album), but it's all still well tread. All told, 'Deep in the Blue' is something familiar and comfortable, which for some fans might be enough.
