Review Summary: "A Coupla Holiday Spirits" is an awesome example of art existing in isolation of the modern world or scene, while at the same time being inseparably connected to it, and very far away from it.

When razzle dazzle kitsch meets modern holiday obsession, the most Las Vegas thing you can think of happens – Fans of Jimmy Century. The duo of supremely unique and commanding singer Alicia Perrone and producer slash musician Victor James offers a rollercoaster of genre-bending tunes to re-imagine Christmas carols and other festive standards, with mostly original Halloween and Christmas music. So, indulge your inner kid, and prepare to discover newer, cooler versions of traditional songs and hear for the first time Halloween and Christmas originals that will become instant classics and viral sensations over the holiday season and beyond.

The songs of "A Coupla Holiday Spirits (Halloween Perils and Christmas Carols)" are a mashup of clever lyrics, a theatrical approach to song production, and songs that are total earworms.

From catchy power-pop and punky rad energy to kitschy avant garde musical soundtrack vibe, this can make it difficult to point out the target audience but it seems like this libertine act aims at a wide range of listeners of all ages and pop-art nouveau backgrounds. Lead track “Wannabe Dracula” is a brilliant calypso bop. The lyrics are hilarious and will have everyone singing along. Second lead track “Here Comes Christmas” will rival Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” for airtime. It’s a hit.

The relevance of this release cannot be measured by traditional means, as Fans of Jimmy Century clearly opt to do what they love rather than follow the trends – but what they love in general is very retro which is actually great for the young and young-at-heart consumers who long to be associated with that cool kid vintage flair. Kids and adults alike will love this since everything always comes back around when it comes to pop culture.

"A Coupla Holiday Spirits" is an awesome example of art existing in isolation of the modern world or scene, while at the same time being inseparably connected to it, and very far away from it. All I know is I can’t wait for the stage production to tour. FOJC are risk-taking trendsetters for sure!
