Review Summary: Not my fav hip-hop album tbh!
This collection of songs is definitely well put together. The sounds put forth to the ear are just fine and tres hip-hop. I cannot fault the production nor the reasoning behind their overall sound and effort.
HOWEVER
There are certainly aspects that could have been handily improved, and their effort is rather predictable like discovering your baby shat in the bathtub again. Indeed, it’s a decent collection of hippity hops. The vocals are rather hard yet soothing like an old soap bar. I have one such soap bar and it has lasted me for a year at least. The same cannot be said about the beat however, which grow thin. The same paint job is applied in every song with the quick electronic hi-hats giving their quick little pat pats everywhere, and…. come to think of it, I cannot remember a standout beat. Thus, no matter the lyricisms or emotions put into gustoed out vocals, they’re doing so over a very computerized, almost AI like beat sound. The format is too formatted, and the creativity is nowhere near the level of a Picasso. To even muster the ability/courage to think about this album again I needed to drink two cups of coffee in a row! And now I will probably forget this album ever existed.
The hard truth is that no matter how good the music sounds, the lack of interesting beats results in a flaccid outcome. One gets the picture that this album could be very punchy indeed, and yet it doesn’t occur. The result is very flattened and softened like the most average wallpaper you’ve seen in a house. One wishes for a distinctly professional sounding mix of songs, and instead…. meh.
