Plenty of Bad Religion fans cry foul at even the mention of "Into The Unknown." For some reason, I was intrigued by it. I heard "Billy Gnosis" several months ago and decided it was time to find this album. After turning up empty, I gave in and downloaded it. Now here I am, listening to one of the most surprising and refreshing albums I've heard in a long time.
As soon as the keyboards on "It's Only Over When..." come blasting through your speakers, you'll know this is NOT a punk album. Greg's voice is still recognizable, and Brett's style is very present, albeit in a different form. Lyrically, this is as competent as any other Bad Religion album. Although most certainly not their best work, it's still better than most other work around the time it was released. Looking past the change in sound and the odd keyboard work (which will either drive you insane or keep you entertained) you'll find a very enjoyable and deep piece of music. The seven minute long epic (haha) "Time and Disregard" is extremely good, and one of my favorite tracks on the cd. The overall style of the track and delivery remind me of throwing on my parent's old vinyls from their time. And of course, "Billy Gnosis" is a track that will be stuck in my head for the rest of my life.
I encourage any fan of Bad Religion or anyone who is into keyboard-driven rock of the 80's to go download this cd. It's definitely worth your time.

BR is great, I've never heard this before it seems VERY interesting.

| | | Argh, double post!
| | | That now makes it a triple post, next time just edit your second comment. I don't like this review at all.
| | | Short reviews can be ok, but this don't really tell me much at all.
| | | Alright, thanks metallicaman
| | | Needs more to the review. All I know about this record is that maximum rocknroll called the cover ''gay''.
I'd like to hear this, I knew Bad Religion were prog fans, as the name for Epitaph records comes from a King Crimson track.

I'm working on fleshing it out, I wanted to just do a blurb, but the character limit is ridiculous, I'll improve upon it. Thanks for the feedback.

This album is nice! All the people who says it sucks is because they can't appreciate any other music than punk. This album is definetely not punk or punk rock, I don't know what it is but its good.
There is a lot of good melodies, lyrics are great, music is great. Open your eyes one time and you'll see that this album is really good.

I take the standard BR fan outlook here. I just kinda found the album to be annoying. It's Only Over When... reminds me of game show music.

I know at least Brett is a big fan of King Crimson. 21st Century Digital Boy is pretty much a tribute to 21st Century Schizoid Man.This Message Edited On 11.27.06
| | | anyone know a good source for getting this album? i have most of the tracks from limewire, but im struggling to find the last two tracks...
i know this was only pressed once on vinyl, and sold without permission, so it's not really available anywhere. what i've heard so far is good though!
