Review Summary: Praise be riffs!

I’m not into worship music these days because I worship myself, but one thing cannot be denied: these guitars are very sparkly. Indeed, in these clean rock tracks you get some hard hitting melodies, like worship music if it was slightly better. You know that feeling you get when you go to church and you wish the live band would rock harder? This is something like that, but still with the knees that bow before their god, and the hands that serve him. We all know that Satan’s minions rock WAY harder and it’s not even close, but Kutless attempt to close the gap by serving up fresh melodic slices with husky vocal shenanigans.

There isn’t anything else going on here. Just a collection of soft/hard covers like condoms. Will you want to slip inside? Mostly only if you are the type to enjoy Christian rock bands. This is about as Christian as it gets, folks, and we all know that guitar music belongs to the Devil, and the Devil is in the details, which also means Satan’s riffs are more technical. This is proven, both Biblically and scientifically. Thus, no amount of spanking guitar shines and beautiful guitar string rubs can distract from Kutless’ main goal, which is to rock hard for Christ. Try as they might to conjure Satanic riffs, it is all for naught. They clearly did not sell their souls to Satan, which is too bad musically speaking. Do they raise the roof? Yes, um, slightly. Their style of music sounds ancient nowadays, but back in their hay day, these guitars almost sounded like real riffs. It was very exciting for people that worship a “trve” god that supposedly flooded the entire Earth, and then gave an apology gift of a single rainbow. The healing power of eye candy.

With this album, you will believe that these sharp guitar tones can bash the faces of demons if you are a Christian. If not, it is a decently nice rock album, but no Linkin Park. That being said, some strong choruses emerge, and the vocals are quite easy on the ears. If you wish for a relaxing, very not Satanic rock album, you have found one.

Oh man, this is nostalgic! I had this album in frequent rotation in the car during my time in the church. It was usually this, Skillet, DC Talk, Thousand Foot Krutch, and Pillar :]

haha awesome review. I only really remember the title track of this record. That track always leaves something to be desired, although the vocal melodies are kinda nice

I got an advertisement for Prager University or whatever far right wing bullshit. Sounds right for the people who openly listen to this album more than once.
