Release Date: 1994 | Tracklist

Review Summary: "Rock Transgresivo" is a reissue of "Tu en tu casa, Nosotros en la Hoguera" which did not manage to surpase the original!

In 1994, Extremoduro was going through a period of significant changes!

During that year, Roberto Iniesta (the soul and driving force of the group) moved to Granada, and with Iñaki "Uoho" Anton becoming increasingly involved in the band, they decided to address the disappointment they experienced with the release of "Tu En tu Casa, Nosotros en La Hoguera" in 1989. This was due to the poor sound quality of the album and the lack of royalties, which resulted in a less than amicable split with Avispa, the label that originally released the album.

To rectify this, without holding the rights to "Tú en tu casa, Nosotros en la Hoguera," Robe and company retrieved the original seven-track demo titled "Rock Transgresivo," recorded before the mentioned album in 1989, for which they did own the rights. They remixed the songs, added new guitar and keyboard tracks by Iñaki Uoho, and incorporated additional sound effects, backing vocals, and various instruments here and there.

Another addition was three "unreleased" Extremoduro tracks, which were actually solo pieces by Robe rescued from the compilation "Robe, mi pequeña Historia" released in the same earlier in 1994. These tracks were titled Adios Abanico Que Llegó el Aire, Caballero Andante (No me dejeis Asiii!), and Te Juzgaran Solo por tus Errores (Yo no).

And what was the result of all this? Well, in my opinion, a record inferior to "Tu en tu Casa, Nosotros en la Hoguera." While the remastered, remixed, and expanded sound is cleaner, it lacks the immediacy, authenticity, and some of the charm of the original. There are also many additions that, in my view, were unnecessary, such as the keyboards in Jesucristo Garcia, which I don't like, and certain dialogues and effects that worsen and mar certain tracks.

Additionally, one of the best songs from the original album, Amor Castuo (which was not included in the original "Rock Transgresivo" demo, and therefore, they didn't have the rights to that recording), is missed. In its place, we get the three aforementioned unreleased tracks, which don't exhibit great quality and don't quite fit well with the urban and transgressive rock style of the rest of the album, as they lean more towards singer-songwriter material and clash with the overall theme.

Conclusion: despite the tremendous quality emanating from classics like Jesucristo Garcia, Decidi, Extremaydura, and La Hoguera, I unequivocally prefer the original "Tu en tu casa, Nosotros en la Hoguera" from 1989 over this 1994 reissue, which, in my opinion, made too many mistakes.

So, if you have the option, instead of "Rock Transgresivo," I would recommend listening to the original 1989 album, which can be easily and legally found on YouTube.
