Will you ever get a second chance? Are you spending this go around wisely? Do you steep yourself in nostalgia? How much have you changed? How much do you want to change? Is there such a thing as a perfect situation? Is it okay to try for one? Old Feelings sounds like a group of friends relishing in their last days together. Like being in transit, watching sparsely populated fields and factories roll by in the distance. It sounds like a band in their first season touring, crashing in their bassist's friends brothers room and smoking a bowl at 3 in the morning. It sounds like being frustrated with yourself because you're not getting better fast enough.
It reminds me of You Blew It! and Mom Jeans. Sort of Midwest emo dashed with pop-punk sensibilities. I think "Searchin" exemplifies all this the best with its brain tickling riffs, its urgently shouted vocals over a driving rhythm. Lyrically it's a lot of introspective stuff that probably means a whole lot to certain people, and is relatable enough to a lot of others. All of this is loud from the get-go, the second the opening Aqua Teen Hunger Force quote is spoken. Brain Vacation has a lot of noise to make. Shout outs to nepo-baby teardown "Silver Spoon", ending with a good raucous 'we're! not! laughing with you!' gang vocal to send it off. The band samples Tony Hawk's Underground on track 3, and if you can recognize Eric's voice then I think you're the prime target. If you can't, give it a listen anyways - it's a swift, enjoyable 19 minutes short.
