Review Summary: Increasing returns.

I was playing Mario Party when JohnnyoftheWell ringed my phone. He said, “Hey baby, I know we haven’t talked in a while, but I got an album for you. Please review it immediately you disgruntled inbred sandwich, and don’t call me, bitch”. Johnny is known to drop in my shoutbox with either abomination bombs or actual music, but this time he selected good music. Thank you based Sputnik gods for saving me from Johnny’s terrible life choi… I mean album choices.

Anywho, this is a short EP of three songs yet 100% enjoyment. Johnny of course didn’t tell me anything about the music, just took a dump and left, but sometimes his dumps rule. Take for example, the first track ATMOSPHERE - RAY. It is a good track that is reminiscent of childhood and childhood pop-punk bands, which made me clutch my Nintendo controller in glee, and subsequently get pwned on Mario Party. Fuck you Johnny, this is your fault somehow you hairless llama popsicle. The song stunned me with glimmering jewel/floaty melodies, and a pretty vocalist (that obviously didn’t sing English). It was just enough nostalgia, with a strongly melodic lead guitar, and botox bass that made the sound fuller.

The next track was instantly quite jarring. Bass beat on the floor, and synth synergy - some kind of house/electropop song. It was catchy, it was fun yet deep, and it was sugar cereal for my breakfast. I listened to the song after my wife beat my ass at Mario Party, so it cheered me up. However, I was quite shook with the idea that the next track may very well be a black metal song. What in Hell’s name have you subjected me to Johnny?

The last song arrived to my ear drums, and what a song! It was not a black metal track - a shame - but I still enjoyed another surprise. The electro pop theme carried itself into the final, third track. This time the sound was much glitchier with various ice cave sounds. Much creepier, much less inviting, but it also brought to mind that one level in Dino City on the SNES. Also, the singer’s warm voice gave me a soft blanket and stuffy to cuddle.

While this short EP is not cohesive, the general warmth of tracks kept them together. The strength though, is how well made each track is. Well produced, sung well, pretty tracks equally enjoyable await. Think of it as a plate of little deserts that get eaten quickly, but produce a lovely flavour. Bite size this EP may be, but there is surely something that will grab you and say eat me.
