Review Summary: And after the correct and powerful "Reign of Fear", it was the turn of the third album of Rage!
"Execution Guaranteed", the second record that the band released within the Noise company, was produced by the group itself and perhaps that was one of the ballasts that the album suffered, since in general terms it does not sound as good as the previous one in in terms of production, with some voices that don't fit quite right, and Jörg Michael's drumming that also don't thunder with all the power it should.
On guitars, Thomas Grüning was replaced by Rudy Graf, but I imagine that Jochen Schroeder (RIP) once again had the greatest weight on the recording, doing again a fine job, but which in the end would also be his last with the band.
However, the big problem with this album is not the sound and not even Peavey Wagner's bad vocal interpretation, but a taste for experimentation that means that the songs, with some exceptions, do not really take off. Numerous sound effects, layers of keyboards, more progressive passages and even classical guitars were added, with the failed desire to decorate a series of songs that mostly do not stand out at all and that make the album end up being tedious, offering little incentive to urge subsequent listening.
Fortunately, we can consider it as a transition album since in the later "Perfect Man" everything changed, including all the band members with the exception of Peavy Wagner... Fortunately for the better!
Therefore, this "Execution Guaranteed" is for my taste the weakest Rage album and therefore it is only recommended for true Rageheads!
Best Tracks: Down By Law (powerful opening of the album), Before the Storm (another song along the lines of the previous one, which at least manages to entertain, thanks to its good work on the instrumental part) and Hatred (correct thrash metal track)
