Review Summary: Now bow before the almighty riff.

One might assume based on Mosh-Pit Justice’s band name that they are some cringey metalcore band. Nay! They are a heavy thrash metal band reminiscent of old school Overkill, Slayer, Dark Angel, etc. When I say heavy, I mean the riffs never stop. From beginning to end the album has the listener in a chokehold of man-crushing velocity. The guitarist strikes at a dizzyingly fast pace, unrelenting even in the final track. Variation in riffs is not a problem either. For a metal band pretending to fit in with classic bands they manage to etch out their name handily.

Fronted by a man that yells much more than he sings, this is true retro thrash. Later on, the ear destroying yells become a tad irritating, but until that point it’s quite compelling. The aggressive stance here cannot be understated, the band are here to take no prisoners. There are some that will quake in the boot at the pure metal on offer, but I ride with these gents. As far as an ode to classic metal in 2022 I doubt it gets much better than this.

An argument could be made that this is a generic thrash act. Mosh-Pit Justice do apply the same type of riff throughout - heavy, uncompromising - and the album is consistently of the same sound, with very familiar songwriting. That’s why it’s great though, the heaviness never lets up, it cuts you in half and when they’re done they mock your spirit. Actual true, heavy riffs don’t come around every day but these folks have so many they’re basically a riff factory. These riffs are not stale, they are zesty and indeed an excellent album awaits you. Let the good times roll.
