Review Summary: May this album die a million deaths. the shrieking spirit that originally possessed this band and gave them talents beyond their wildest imagination has now left the band alone and thought this review was well written
The latest *** metalcore album is from a band that used to not suck. The riffs here are of the Falling In Reverse kind rather than retro The Devil Wears Prada kind - the modern change sucks, and also Falling In Reverse sucks. What happened here is the band said, “money is good therefore I am” and thus have foresaken their originality. Not even Evilford could like this and he 5s everything including your mom after a good time. Prepare your dinner plate for ancient/*** metalcore leftovers where they pretend it’s still the glory days yet they’re too old to remember how they used to sound. At this moment we will all take a few minutes of silence in celebration of the memory of The Devil Wears Prada.
I heard that silence and I agree, this band sucks now. They scream over limp noodle beats with the voice of someone who sounds like a possessed chicken and are desperate to sound relevant yet the soundscape here is of a farting microwave. My point is this *** is barely metal, more like organized temper tantrums at best, yet organized badly like a toddler completing a 2000 piece puzzle. Don’t get me wrong these riffs would go hard for a five year old metalhead that’s addicted to Nickelback but they’re not recommended for adults - or anyone. The album is LOuDD, yippee skippee, going to a construction site is loud but it doesn’t make the sound of a jackhammer harmonious - even with editing.
I’m especially pissed because this band used to rule. They did a zombie themed EP, a spacey one, and this year they’ve made a dumb themed album themed to the theme of dumbness which is the incorrect swag. It’s bad enough that these guys have sold their souls so they can acquire as much fresh linen from Arabia as possible (or just buy a new car) but it’s even worse that the album sucks. The melodies here sound terrible like they had an orgy with One Direction and afterwards One Direction told them how to write a basic, *** chorus. This is way too pop to be metalcore and yet has the screams of an auto-tuned dinosaur. No thank you sirs. In conclusion, this made me turn it off as soon as I listened to it. The choruses sound bad, and the music is not music and therefore doesn’t music hard enough. Fascinating, yet also unsubscribed.

Architects, Parkway, take some FUCKING NOTES. THIS is how you do an album that advances your sound while not sticking to your old-school roots.
Hell, I don't even like every track on this album, but god DAMN can you feel the heart and soul that they've packed into this shit. It has life, it has flair, it has the beautiful feeling of a band who still care about their work and by god is it beautiful.
Non-single highlights on first listen are definitely Exhibition, Hallucinate & Cancer.

Once one gets past the fact that the band has taken a different approach to their sound, then one can actually begin to enjoy this release. After several listens, I enjoy it much more than The Act. While I am not too terribly thrilled in the style change, they still make good music.
