Review Summary: This album sucks dick.
Lil Pump had one of the biggest rises and falls in all of music. In 2017 he was energetic, trendy, pissing off all the right people while riding the soundcloud wave to the top of the hip hop scene. Forget thought provoking wordplay or meticulous craftsmanship, Pump at least brought some banging production, so-bad-it's-good level lyrics, and a charismatic swagger to the table. It was stupid yet it captivated millions, primarily because Lil Pump knew what worked and what didn't. He played to his strengths and embraced the meme. Believe it or not, Lil Pump was on top of the world.
Flash forward to 2021 and nobody gives a fuck about Lil Pump anymore. It's actually sad cause at one point I had a guilty pleasure for Pump and the whole florida soundcloud scene in general but it's just dead and this is the proof. Harverd Dropout sucked minus a few flashes in the pan but somehow Lil Pump 1.5 is 100 times worse. This attempted comeback tape is fucking garbage and is a late contender for worst album of the year. It's this strange hybrid of whole lotta red and the original pump sound minus the confidence and energy that makes that "dumb banger" sound so fascinating. Pump comes off as a half asleep, completely xanned out moron on this (well he was always a xanned out moron but at least in the d rose days he actually sounded like he gave a shit) and the lyrics arent even funny anymore. Gone are the catchy hooks, nothing here makes any sort of impression and the vocal performance comes off like a rambling freestyle. Pump was once a trend setter but now it's obvious that he's just regurgitating the same ideas that stopped being interesting a few years ago. "Do What I Want" is a trash opener and Pump is so goddamn quiet and sleepy, you'd think recorded his verse at 1 am trying not to wake up his mom. Sprinkled in-between the sleepy and repetitive filler tracks are a few "rage style" tracks like "Rick Owens" which at best are wannabe Playboi Carti bootlegs. Then we get Torey Lanez on a few features, talk about another rapper who totally fell off and is just desperately clawing at relevancy. All I have to say is, shouldn't have shot megan the stallion my guy. There's no winning that one.
Overall this album is weak and honestly I can;t remember the last time I physically cringed at listening to music, maybe angelic 2 the core, justinRPG's love song for reshiram, or doug walker's the wall. This might be worse since lil pump is, well, an actual musician, or at least he used to be. lil pump just continues to beat a dead horse and i really couldn't even remember anything about this album it was just so dull, lazy, and unfocused. There is nothing good here even the best tracks on this project (don't even know what those tracks are since nothing here really made an impact on me) would have been filler rejects from lil pump 1 back in 2017. Pump really got a kanye feature and decided he was gonna stop putting in any sort of effort into making his music and just hope he could coast off name recognition alone. Dude should just take his money, go home, and live a quiet lifestyle until 2040 when he gets hired to play for a bunch of "i love the 2010's" nostalgia style concerts where he can play d rose and gucci gang for all the dads who cant figure out how to work their neurolinks or smart cars. Well, if he lives to 2040 anyways which I highly doubt. This is based and a fact.
