Review Summary: Anyway, a simple little alternative rock album with grunge roots, Chad's voice sounds a little sick and irritating, but you can swallow that sound.
On this album, the vast majority of songs have a soft chorus and the riffs are weak compared to the band's previous album.
It's funny that most fans of the band think this album is weak, and people who hate this band think this is their only good album... or the "Less Worse".
It starts with the track "Breathe" which has an unexpected opening Talkbox and beautiful vocals by Chad Kroeger, it's a Dancing Sound with a Meaningful lyric, the sound is very varied and not repetitive here, I think the lyrics Fala do Pai do Chad, or Talk about yourself talking to your Past Self, I think that's it.
Follows with "Cowboy Hat", The track talks about a young love Chad had in his teens, The track has a sweet Country Climate on the guitar, Reminds me of the 90s... I can imagine what it felt like to hear it on the radio in a sunny Saturday afternoon.
The album comes with their biggest hit, "Leader Of Men", which starts off with a silent guitar sound, then turns aggressive. At Start Chad with a soft voice and Beautifully Melodic is the most famous track on the album, but it's not my favourite.
The next track "Old Enough" opens with a distorted guitar and Chad repeats the chorus of the song 3 times before it actually starts, this is the only ballad on the album, it performs a Good Guitar Solo, the song was made for the girlfriend of Chad because her parents wouldn't let her live with Chad, Chad made the song saying he's old enough to take care of his girlfriend, this track gives an early 2000s nostalgic feel.
"Worthy To Say" opens with a hollow drum sound and Softly Psychedelic Acoustic bass, the first time I heard it I thought it was amazing and something that reminds me of the beach (don't ask me why, I don't know why it reminds me of this) Chad sings here about his escape from the police in the past when he was on drugs.
All right in the first half of the album, that's where the other half starts...
"Diggin' This" probably my favorite from the album, it opens with a Basic Riff but Okay, too bad it's kind of repetitive and there's no Variation of Riffs here, and Chad's vocals are Rabid, Chad is Angry (Maybe Because Your Hair Made Fun ) the chorus is Suave and Captivating, the song even has a fast guitar solo to energize even more.
"Deep" is a Short Track that shows the heavier side of the standards on this album, it has a tone reminiscent of Pearl Jam, with a little less noise, the chorus is good and this song has something noticeable in most of the Nickelback songs. .. Chad's Voice has a muffled and dark effect that they use on almost all of their Albums, the Verse "And you bleed a lot better than I bleed" is really something I liked.
"One Last Run" is the Most Memorable of the Second Half of the Album, and Made More Success than "Cowboy Hat" of the First Half, this song has excellent and energetic drum work by Ryan Vikedal, the best drum of all time . Once again Chad starts with a muffled voice in Sombrio Tom, the song talks about having friends who get into drugs and forget about you…
"Not Leavin 'Yet", the penultimate track, has a repetitive riff (like "Diggin' This), unfortunately with little variety in sound, but it has a great solo, the lyrics talk about Chad's grandmother's death and how sad he was about it.
"Hold Out Your Hand" is the last track on the album, it has a Good Riff that could have been clearer and cleaner, but it got a little muffled, Chad sings about the horrors of the holocaust on this track, the song has an Oriental Tom Solo .
And finally to an acoustic bonus track from Leader of Men that I think is good for ending an album in the most Natural and Restful way after a Long Stirring.
There are also other acoustic tracks on this album, like "Worthy To Say Acoustic" "Not Leavin'Yet Acoustic" and "Old Enough Acoustic", it would be nice if they had included that on the album.
Anyway, this album has a good quality, but it has Little Freedom, Chad should loosen up more here, a track I would erase would be "Cowboy Hat", it could have something else more interesting in its place.
