Review Summary: The only kind of review this album deserves since Love and Death are stuck in the past.
How does one make generic alt metal more generic? When it is perfectly preserved. Jokes aside, this album is terrible. Follow me into the rabbit hole as we explore this nightmare, and unravel why Love and Death have failed on all levels.
1. The confusion of who the lead singer is.
Who is the lead singer exactly? Is it the growly guy, or the smooth vocal dude? Can’t you just pick one so I’m less confused? I’m trying to focus on the music here, damn. Is one of the singers not good enough to hit the high notes? None of the singers are even that special.
2. Terrible growlies
Wtf is with these growls? They sound terrible! I’m getting some constipated, angry smoker vibes. I thought the dude was a Christian, why is he yelling all the time and sounding like he’s mad at the world? Just saying. These are the worst growls I’ve heard since HeavensDust. How in the world do these angry yelly bits make sense with radio friendly, forgettable melodies?
3. Generic everything
Oh, yes please. I want another generic chorus, lay on those flat autotuned vocals mmmm. Don’t forget to steal some Korn, Red, and Breaking Benjamin riffs. The kids love those. Give em enough choruses and maybe they’ll forget how terrible the growlies were. Maybe they’ll even forget that embarrassing cover of a pop song that was bizarre and unwanted.
4. No flow
Ahh, I see you want to disrupt the flow of another song so you can have an excessively aggressive growly bit. Oh, you’re going to go straight back into clean, beautiful melodies, and a relaxing chorus right after? Okay, whatever works for you I guess.
Just pretend I wasn’t head banging, I don’t care. Maybe I was just trying to shake lice out of my hair.
Yeah, that was totally it. Btw, the beat was completely different in that bit, and it felt like a different song, and not in a good way. And yes, I am actually referencing the entire album in this paragraph.
In conclusion: bad album
Good tracks: not many
Pros: are you serious?
Cons: I listened to this album
Summary: 2/5
