Review Summary: A trailblazing experimental performance artwork live-streamed on Twitch, HANA’s songwriting/production/vocal competencies have fully blossomed in her stellar debut album.

HANADRIEL

Listening to this impressive debut album from the singer/producer songstress HANA is like aural equivalent of sipping through a delicious cup of warm Ovaltine. It leaves the audience with a lingering sweet satisfaction.

HANADRIEL is a mixtape-like collection which showcases HANA’s enchanting vocal and her multitalented writing/production chops.

The opening track “Satellite” begins with chant-like phrases that induce the listener into a blissful entrainment; then the catchy tune gradually morphs into a pleasant gentle earworm. “Arcane Magic”, the second track, is an intricately crafted pop song with pretty melodies and tight beats. Track #3 “Anxious Alien” pumps it up with an alt-rock antsy sensitivity. Then, track #4 “Creatura” conjures up an imagery of futuristic opera featuring a gymnast-worthy soaring diva juxtaposes with chill layback drum beats. Track #5 “Black Orchid” is an enjoyable disco with youthful timbre. This young voice continues into track #6 “ORCA” with its sweet melodic techno vibe.

Gradually, track #7 “Guardian” floods the audience with HANA trademark: her ethereal soaring vocal bath. Track #8 “Moonwell” gashes up a swelling ambient techno. Track #9 “Nu Leaf” endears the audience with its cutesy dance/pop beats. Track #10 “Hanadriel's Theme” leads the listener into a relaxing techno meditation. The penultimate “Cowgirl Bebop”, a country/electronica ballad, illuminates HANA’s gorgeous voice with aching sincerity; her melancholy longing touches the listener’s heart; this ballad is my personal favourite. Then it abruptly ends with the final track “Chimera 2.0”, an ambient techno, as a nod to one of her classics.

In essence, this groundbreaking debut album demonstrates how far multi-talented HANA has come as a fearlessly independent artist. It marks the triumphant culmination of her personal journey since a Phoenix-like rebirth a couple years ago with the release of her eponymous EP.

Considering as an experimental performance artwork, HANA’s amazing songwriting/production and singing abilities have blossomed in full display during a trailblazing 4-weeks Twitch livestream marathon. She bravely reveals to the world: the unvarnished processes of her album creation from scratch to finish. Finally, I highly recommend HANADRIEL to old fans and newcomers alike. You will experience sweet aural satisfaction and paradoxically yearning for more.

Now we can only eagerly await for HANA’s sophomore album and future EP’s, meanwhile relish with pleasure of re-listening to HANADRIEL.

All the best parts of the bedroom producer decade, all wrapped up in an iridescent, crystalline pack...
