Review Summary: "Just trying to keep things minimal while also encouraging as much depth as possible".- Matthew Cooper

Eluvium's Virga I consists of a new ambient series produced by who seems to be the prince of experimental ambient.
I like looping techniques, but i love those who really know how to practice patience interacting with loops.

I really enjoy that Cooper took an oportunity to make a personal experiment, while a snowstorm was taking place. Here in Chihuahua, Mexico, we do not enjoy snowstorms too often, and considering the fact that i love snowstorms, is no surprise that Eluvium has become one of my top five artists...

Actually, Cooper´s albums have now become part of the most important experiences in my life. Like the time I took a plane trip for the first time being afraid of heights. Feeling dizzy and with a lump in my throat, I couldn’t do more than put on a couple of headphones and wait for the best... However, by putting the playlist in "random", I simply wanted to forget everything, and it was at that moment that I listened to "Lambent Material", specifically "Zerthis Was a Shivering Human Image", and now I can see that experience again as one of the best of my life: I ended up crying smiling and praying as the plane took off in the dark, and i do every single time i listen to the album. And now, we have what appears to be, perhaps, the most purely ambient album Eluvium has released to date.

I can barely describe the foggy landscape that this album evokes in me... Because, you know, Chihuahua is in a middle of a dessert, so the memory of winter seems very distant, but Virga I really makes me feel like very few albums make me feel.
Eluvium is very unique, it is very difficult to compare to other works, but Altus´ "Winter Embrace (15th Anniversary Edition)" pops into my mind.

I really hope Cooper keeps the serenity and charisma that has captivated my heart since i listened to "Lambent Material". I will look foward for what come next, and i encourage you to do as well, specially after reading Copper´s words: "I decided it might be nice to start a series inspired by this setup". I know i can trust Copper because he is well known for keeping his promises and delivering high quality material
