Review Summary: Moonshine Effect - Our Eyes Should Meet (2018): A dream/indie pop masterpiece. An endless trip of mind and soul.
When I first saw the picture in the front cover of "Our Eyes Should Meet", I felt like something important will happen inside me in a while. It was a strange and very strong feeling that very rarely floods me and is difficult to be explained. Warm colors, minimal aesthetics and the good mood for a new listening had already been created.
And fortunately, the intro track, a melody played by toy piano, along with the next one "Just Before Dawn" did not disappoint me and made me looking forward to listening to the remaining songs. And as the time was passing, this nice and unique emotion I had, started to transform into an unforgettable and endless trip.
The musical universe of the whole album is divine. Primordially beautiful, familiar and fresh at the same time, it sounds like the soundtrack of your dreams. It is a haunting blend of dream and indie pop, psychedelia, folk and proto-punk that makes it at once classic and experimental. Lyrics are dreamy too, dealing in the most beautiful and romantic way the relationship of the two sexes: “The night will pass, and I will make it through/How could we lose our sunny days/A flame that burns and now we are so glad/We screamed and then we walked away”.
Also, its duration is identical (almost 30 minutes), not letting you to get bored and awaiting to push the play again and again.
Moonshine Effect introduced themselves with a real masterpiece. Surely it is very early to say this, but each time I try to write something else and complete this review, I’m thinking of the experience of its listening and I return again to my initial and spontaneous view. Highly recommended!
