Review Summary: Concocting blasphemy

Prime, pure, hellfire pissing black metal. It's hard to think of a band more fitted to such a description than Sargeist. Through galloping blast beats, ballistic riffage and barks that invoke the infinite wrath of ancient lords (or the cheap powdered chalk wearing neo-nazi arising from the black depths of his Taco Bell scented dungeon keep), Sargeist conjures a sound truly bestial. Unbound proves this further.

It's a simple mission this album accomplishes, really. Sound sinister, sound gnarled, sound enraged. The riffs are ***ing cool (i.e the opening riff to "Death's Empath" that stomps you into the nil). The vox are ***ing cool (take the warped and tortured shrieks on "The Bosom and Wisdom of Madness). The drums are ***ing cool (example-all of them sweet sangs). The way these traits come together are fantastic, too, as in perfect union they demonstrate both unhinged chaos and an almost hypnotic restraint. That's another thing Sargeist has begun to master- tempos. Unbound is replete with both venomous 3 minute bangers as well as 6 minute wintery soundscapes, all crafted to perfection. So I implore you- gather up your incense burners and sacrificial goats, cause it's time for some goddamn blasphemy.

Sidenote- If no goats are available your neighbors cat will suffice (he was always a pissant anyway, invading YOUR windowsill).

Oh sweet, this got a review. What I've heard of this album was great.
Bit of a shame Hoath Torog isn't providing the vocals anymore tho. The guy is among the most massive screamers in black metal

As much as I want to like this, somehow I just don't. Something is missing here, Sargeist albums used to be instantly recognisable. This one, on the other hand, sounds derivative and utterly interchangeable.

Even though Hellwind Inferion does a solid enough job on vocals, I do feel the sound here sorta misses the vicious throat tearing screams of Torog.
Let The Devil In is one of the greatest BM records of the past 10 years imo so of course it's gonna be difficult to stack up to that

Inclined to agree with azog here, this album felt pretty uninspired and flat. It's definitely not bad just not very memorable.
