TENACIOUS D
(acoustic/rock)-self titled

2001-Epic Records
http://entimg.msn.com/ipim/covers/633114.jpg
BAND MEMBERS:
Jack Black- Vocals, lead rock guitarist
Kyle Gass- Lead Acoustic guitarist

BAND BACKROUND
Jack Black and Kyle Gass started out as rival musicians, but decided to form together and make a band called Tenacious D. They played their first debut song "Tribute" in a bar in L.A. A Couple months later, when they were playing in a different bar, a man who worked with a record company (Epic Records)heard their heavenly music and well, you can guess what happened after that. Since then, the two have been rocking out every day at Kyle's apartment.

OVERVIEW
This CD is a mix of rock and acoustic songs and a couple of tracks where they just talk. It's not like you standard Adam Sandler-type CD, it's much much more than that. Maybe you've heard their hit songs "Tribute" or "Wonderboy" but if you haven't, then I highly suggest this CD to anyone who wants to laugh, and hear some awsome songs at the same time. My personel favorites are "Friendship, City Hall, and Kyle Quit the Band". One of the reasons I like this CD so much is because they sing about things in daily life that you can relate to, such as friendship, fighting with your friend, and what certain someone ate your labled food out of the fridge. Although it has exsessive swearing, the music really makes up for it, although I'm not a big fan of the track where they just talk. When I first picked this CD up, I thought the singer (Jack Black) would have a bad singing voice that shouldn't be on a CD (ex. Tom Green) but I bought it anyway cause' I'm a big fan of Jack Black. I was very suprised to find that Jack had a really good singing voice. And the songs weren't just two chords in the backround or someone singing to a keyboard demo, it had VERY good acoustics and rock and is different from anything I've ever heard in my 13 years of livin'.
I've been listening songs from this CD before it came out (downloaded) I listen to it every day and I still think it rocks. Plus they're really good live.

MY RATING: 5/5 (it's that good) :thumb:

Okay, this has the basics of a review in it, the bare bones, which is a start. But it's not really a review. Read this, and try it again; you don't have to follow it to the letter, but more detail is a definite must. I'll edit the title of this thread, so you can just edit an improved review into your post if you like. If you don't want to, let me know and I'll delete.

Your first post is a CD review? My word. At least you attempted it, and not post one that's been done.

Ps. Nice modding Bartender. ;)

Thanks for the tip, but can you help me? what I can't figure out is why the cover art won't load whenever I try to load it? what I typed was: {IMG}tenaciousd.bmp{/IMG}, but with [] instead of {}. I'm only 13, so Im not very good at this stuff.

Use a link rather than a file. Go to Google Image Search, search for Tenacious D and find a decently sized (200x200 to 300x300 pixels) picture, then put the link to the picture in img tags in the review.

Thanks brycey.

Try the album covers from www.amazon.com - I think they're the perfect size.

And I had no idea this album was out in '96.

I know, I thought it was out a lot later than that as well.

EDIT: Hang on, that would mean you'd been listening to it since you were 5?

I think so. around that age. My brother introduced me to it when I was around that age with the song "Wonderboy" from a cd he had borrowed from a friend. a couple years later when my mom finally approved of it, She let me buy it.

There. How do you like it now? I changed it a bit. Probably not a superb job, but at least it's decent.

This is a great album. Fave track are "Tribute," "Wonderboy" and "Rock your Socks off," or whatever one had the funky 70s groove. "A funky groove to fuck to!"

jack black and kyle gass are awesome vocalists. two of the best out there in my opinion. and they play a mean guitar. they really are great musicians.
i reckon that if they didn't have stupid lyrics, and excessive swearing, they'd be one of the worlds greatest bands.

i see what you mean, sort of. But the excessive swearing and stupid lyrics ARE the D!!!
It's what they exist for!

P.S: does anyone know if there will be another album by them?

Oh, that's right. "Rock Your Socks" is the one with KG playing a classical lick "That is Bach and it rocks/ It's a rock block of Bach"
