Review Summary: 2015 was the sexual peak of history and time…

2015 was the sexual peak of history and time…

Ninja sex party has always been a band that you either love, you just don’t. It’s certainly an acquired taste, due mostly to the lyrics of most of their songs centering around sex, in some way or another. Which be used as a negative or a positive when critiquing a band like this. However if you weren’t at all turned off by that description than this album is sure to get you turned on.

Musically, this album is consistently excellent, and diverse. From the darker, (and slightly heavier) :Samurai Abstinence patrol”, to the surprisingly epic “6969”, and the way the music expertly bounces between dark and brooding to happy and bouncy on the track “Cookies!,” There is something for everyone on this album regardless of the lyrical content. Coupled with Danny Sexbang’s incredible and surprisingly graceful vocals, every song feel unique and different each other, while still remaining consistent within the album. And as excellent as the musical side of this album is, and well produced it is as a whole this is only ½ of what makes a band like this so special.

What makes it so special you may ask? Short answer: They’re ACTUALLY funny. Long answer: Lyrically this album is spectacular. Almost every line in almost every song is some sort of joke and there are only a few that don’t land. For example the track Dubstep is a little underwhelming since it’s uncannily similar to Shredded Metal or Symphony in P Minor, from the bands previous outputs. However that’s a very minor complaint when it’s honestly the only issue I have with this album. Going into it immediately after having listened to their two previous efforts, I was a little worried that they could continue to come up with enough new ideas so it wouldn’t feel redundant, however listening to the album i can assure anyone who hasn’t heard it that there are almost no ideas ripped from their previous albums. As far as comedy goes, it often centers around sex with a one standout being during the song Road Trip where after singing about ejaculating in countries around the world danny proudly sings: “I BANGED LADESH” (which is honestly one of my favorite things of all time.) And then there is 6969, which is simply one of the best songs of all time. This 8 minute long masterpiece is absolutely perfect. It’s unquestionably NSP’s Magnum Opus, and will likely never be topped. I don’t have words to do it justice, but after having listened to the whole thing you will perhaps understand my stance on this song and maybe your opinion will be similar. And with the final worlds of the song I found myself getting confusingly emotional about a song about having sex.

In conclusion? Listen to this if you a fan of music. Every aspect of this album culminates into a perfect blend of excellent musicianship, exceptional vocals, and genuinely hilarious lyrics. If you listen to music for reasons other than to be entertained than you will not enjoy this one. But for everyone else, I think you’ll absolutely love it.

However, it should be duly noted that depending on your sense of humor, the lyrics could be extremely hit or miss.

I love NSP, but there is no way this is a 5/5.

You also have to remember that humor is very subjective, so a lot of people would probably find this sophomoric and very UNfunny, since it's all a matter of opinion. Humor is often more subjective than music, so if someone doesn't find the music good and also finds it not very funny, there is virtually nothing to enjoy about this album to them.

Also, 6969 aside, I find this to be their weakest album.

When i refer to it as an acquired taste its because of the humor being so immature. And that could easily make people disinterested in an album like this.
