Release Date: 2003 | Tracklist

Released 2003 on Century Media Records

Band Line-up:
Warrel Dane - vocals
Jim Sheppard - bass
Jeff Loomis - guitar
Van Williams - drums

This is the strongest four piece band I have ever heard. Jeff's quick fingers and intricate playing is amazing while Van's drums are just amazing and fits well with the sound. As for Jim's thick bass pounding, they just make the band's sound that much more rich. All the musicians compliment each other quite well along with Warrel's unique voice that can't be matched with any other singer and that makes for a lethal band. The title track which opens the CD sets the pace for what is about to come. Plenty of intricate guitar and drum work with plenty of rhythm makes this one heavy as hell release that is catchy and you will be listening to the CD more than once. While the music may be wild, hard and heavy, the vocals don't have to be out of control just to compliment the music. Warrel makes good use of his voice. What I mean is that he can sing the high notes and scream, but at the same time he can be passionate which balances out fantastically. The CD lures you in which is great with the hard hitting title track, "Ambivalent" and "Never Purify" then you are hit with a power ballad of sorts with "Tomorrow..." Another powerful track that will just have you hypnotized. Another track that is unique with it's atmosphere and slow pacing is "Noumenon". Very ambient and mellow, yet dark and intriguing. You would think that you would get tired of the CD with all it hard and heaviness, but they have a formula that many bands can't master. Mix the hard with the melodic. All of your songs don't have to be hard and heavy for 5 minutes or what not. Go from high to mid tempo. Change up the vocals here and there. This band does it all and does it well. The musicianship is excellent. Each song is not overpowered by their technical prowess. It's meticulously inserted when need be and they are short. They don't have to show off just how good each individual is. That's what makes this CD a pleasure to enjoy and why each release just gets better. A recomended CD for any Power Metal or regular Metal fan.

To tell you how much i like Nevermore, i'll just say Van Williams is my idol for a drumm player.
I learned their songs all of em, i like the song "no more will" a lot, it has a hard technique in double bass but it rocks

I don't care about the shoddy production, this album shreds the socks off my feet!! Seed awakening's guitar solo is like my dream solo I want to learn. Very hard....

This is agreat band. I heard This Godless Endeavor a while back and I've been listening to several of their albums ever since. The new one is just as amazing as past work.

The production is muddy as horse shit, but that's alright. The rest of the album makes up for it. Warrel Dane has some of the best vocals that I've heard in my entire life. Nevermore writes the catchiest choruses in metal.

Maybe I'll buy the remastered one on iTunes..This Message Edited On 10.09.05

a big reason this album didn't get a higher rating is the production on the original. buy the remastered- everything sounds perfect

that's the point of the remaster, to sort out the poor mixing that was done on the original version. Not to add new parts in.

There was no point in remastering this unless you get a boner for 5.1.
