A few months back I came across this album at a record store. It always caught my attention during my weekly visits, something mesmerizing about the cover’s red and brown letters sprawled alongside a giant jar of peanut butter reading: THE ELECTRIC PEANUT BUTTER COMPANY. After a couple months of quiet fascination, I decided to finally listen to this album. To my surprise, this wasn’t some obscure rock band from the age of psychedelia after all.

While The Electric Peanut Butter Company’s debut album may be nostalgic, it’s also very much awake in the moment. It never feels like a replication but rather an impressive embodiment of style, energy, and atmosphere repurposed for modern interests.

'Dreams' is a little hard to swallow, but they capture that 60s psych sound fairly well overall
