Review Summary: Anything but a misery, but nothing new here.
Slaughter to Prevail are a Russian deathcore group that formed this decade.
The band is most known for their vocalist, Alex Terrible, who has a YouTube channel where he does vocal covers of various songs.
The band released an EP last year entitled "Chapters of Misery" which is pretty ok, nothing special though, apart from Alex's voice. And that's pretty much the same for their debut full length, which came out today on Sumerian Records, the same label Oceano recently signed to.
There are a lot of Thy Art is Murder vibes hear, especially on the song "King" with more ambient chords in amongst the raging double bass and Alex's behemoth of a voicebox.
Slaughter to Prevail are incredibly generic, the music is stellar, and well produced, aside from Alex is above everyone else in the mix.
Band's like Born of Osiris (who add electronic elements into the mix) and Betraying the Martyrs (Who have an added melodic sense in amongst the chaos) and Rings of Saturn (who are incredibly technical), they do something with deathcore, and make it their own, same with Carnifex and Lorna Shore, who added a black metal influence.
Slaughter to Prevail are as deathcore as they come, but don't expect anything surprising or interesting. Atleast there's no teehees though, but I wouldn't mind hearing Alex's cleans, it'd be interesting to see if his singing chops match his immense roars.
