I recently saw Evans Blue (along with Taproot) at the Rave in Milwaukee and came to see how great of a band they are. They had some quality jems in their repitoire and I purchased their new CD The Melody and the Energetic Nature of Volume, their debut cd.
Matisyn - The singer/the whisper/the voice
Parker Lauzon - The strings 1/the chords/the distortion
Vlad - The strings 2/the lead/the aura
Pitter - The bass/the quiet/the low
Darryl - The drummer/the influence/the drive
1. A Cross And A Girl Named Blessed: Terrific Vocals and real nice guitar work also. Defines the cds title "the Energetic Nature of Volume" throughout the entire song. 4/5
2. Stop And Say You Love Me: Kinda repetitious with not much going on for the first 2/3s of the song. The vocals are nothing specials either. End of the song it picks up a bit. An "okay" chorus. 2.5/5
3. Cold (But I'm Still Here): Great song with excellent guitar work, vocals, and lyrics. Chorus really makes the song. 2/3 way through song and it really gets original with some unique sounds too. 4.5 / 5
4. Eclipsed: Pretty good song. Matisyn has some good vocal works with some really impressive points. One of my favorites. It just pumps me up, especially the second half. 4/5
5. Beg: Not a bad song just not a good one either. Has some emotion in it and the vocals work but there just isnt that catchy sound. I'm not a big fan of the higher, second voice (excuse me for not knowing who it is) 3.3/ 5
6. Over: Good, new opening. The contrast is good. The vocals are decent. (I do like the "Over and Over and Over Again") but I like the song mostly on a drum/ guitar level. 3.6/ 5
7. Possession: Another great opening and I really like the sounds utilized by the guitars throughout the song. The dual voices work in this song. Chorus is par. 3.9/ 5
8. Dark That Follows: Pretty original song and it sticks out from the rest. Good sounds once again. Gets a bit long and for the last minute it seems like you've heard what your listening to already. 3.6/5
9. The Promise + The Threat: I like this song and the vocals but it seems a bit repetitious in the end. It is one of the albums lesser songs but its still quality. 3/5
10. Quote: Very clear lyrics and a softer song from the rest. Its more of a story than a song and it doesn't catch interest. Far too slow and is worse than track 2 simply because its 2 minutes longer. 2.4 / 5
11. The Tease: Good entry to song and has a good chorus that really makes the song. Good end to the CD. 3.5 / 5
MY SONG RECOMMENDATIONS:
Cold(But I'm Still Here)
A Cross And A Girl Named Blessed
Possession
Eclipsed
(If your a fan) Over
