Review Summary: All in the name of love.

With the standards that society has placed upon us today, conformity was absolute if there was any chance for me to fit. The countless amounts of money spent for those who didn't deserve it, yet did these things just to be cared about. Eventually that all came to an end, abandoning it all only to descend towards isolation and loneliness. Hope was lit when I had the absolute honor to hang with pop singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha on March 14th in Seattle. Upon that first moment I was right there beside her, I could feel this badass "fu*k everyone else, do you" mentality that made me feel at ease with myself. Not only that, but her incredible humility that warmed my heart. It says a lot for an artist whose start began with a knack for writing emotionally evocative tracks such as for Eminem's comeback "The Monster", a dark journey with personal demons in one's self. It has set her on an incredible run that's further highlighted with her grungy effort on "Me, Myself & I" with G-Eazy, and has climaxed with the first of two parts of her biggest project to date, the poppy "All Your Fault Pt. 1". If you wanna talk life, this is quite the reflection she gives.

When she isn't writing away dim-lighted excursions with G-Eazy, she's carving out an new identity for building relatable, rhythmic pop that shine her dynamic songwriting ability and her hooks. Those lively vocals bristle its way in visceral form in the love/breakup bop "Atmosphere", an atmospheric track in itself with its colorful synths waving across vibrant bass. When she sung this with the crowd, the blend of both vulnerability and confidence she lifts in this song adds to its heavenly ambience. This balance of emotional and upbeat premises in this first half plays advantage by taking you to "the highest highs, and the lowest lows", no pun intended. It is reinforced with the thriller "I Got You", a contradiction of the first track where she serenades about having your back and, in her words, "taking a chance on love". Bubbling under scorching guitar and summery synths that climax in its intense hook; it's the most upbeat of the six released. This was the most relatable to connect, with lyrics like "I can see you hurting/I've been through the same thing" relating back to that time spent with Bebe herself, with the time spent with her being as enlightening as you could possibly imagine.

Moving on hasn't never been easy, you can say the same for everyone in that retrospect. Each time coping with my social failures has been more of a struggle to fight. The mentality implemented with it is that it's always my fault, not the other way around. Well, tell it to Bebe who's gonna say otherwise about that. In the sequel of "Me, Myself & I"; the lighter-hearted, gut-hitting "*** Fake Friends" meddles itself around the falseness of others, and boasts self-success to beat them all. Blending Bebe's gentle, majestic vocals that invokes a "kill them with kindness" mentality all over it, alongside another smooth feature by G-Eazy, it cools away the desire of conformity and instead asking to be yourself. That's the ultimate theme in which "All Your Fault Pt. 1" presents, encouraging love and independence. Having the love by others just by being you, saying farewell to conformity, and still just loving no matter what. Those standards felt before of the past no longer feel needed, but only erased. This is what pop should be encouraging in positive fashion, with quite the dose of inspiration.

I want to personally give thanks and much love to Bebe Rexha for the incredible opportunity to be able to meet and hang out with her! It's a memory that still hasn't faded away and I absolutely am looking forward very much to being able to see you again and doing that all over when I actually get my savings in order haha. Also for giving me the inspiration for this review, it really influenced me as an aspiring writer to make sure I pen out the best write-up I can give!

Decided to take a little different direction with this review, adding in a little personal touch alongside it which I normally make sure isn't the case but wanted to test it out on this one! Praise, feedback, artist and EP thoughts would definitely help me out so much! Appreciate it a lot as always! Working on my Khalid review btw, trying to get it done by the end of the month!

Jesus you're entitled to your opinion but didn't expect that kind of response from a staff writer. If I'm able to write a positive review and listen to her album without issue, that's my right to do that. Hell, why bash a review you didn't even read?

Wonder if the negs are because of the review itself or because of artist bias

But most of all, why you think people neggin your review because they don't like Bebe

that requires people to actually know who she is or care in the first place

this review exemplifies why some staff were pretty hesitant to promote you.

the first couple sentences are never elucidated. you mention some overarching "conformity" but don't quite tether it to anything other than this meet-and-greet. i'm under the impression that some grand social calamity suddenly ended with you meeting Bebe Rexha, which sounds stupid, and probably not quite what you're meaning to say.

it also needs a proofread: "Those lively vocals bristle its way in visceral form "
"When she sung this with the crowd, the blend of both vulnerability and confidence she lifts in this song adds to its heavenly ambience."
"This balance of emotional and upbeat premises in this first half plays advantage by taking you"
^these are all in fairly quick succession, and are grammatically awkward.

here's another one "Having the love by others just by being you, saying farewell to conformity, and still just loving no matter what."

every review i've seen from you is always a chore to read. i don't understand how you've got 93 reviews to your name and haven't improved. it's a shame because you seem pretty driven. I honestly think your Shaquille O'Neal reviews are better, and they were among your first. you should take up permanent residency in the proofreading thread.

the "bad bitch" image (her words, not mine) she attempts is hilariously awful, probably one of the worst attempts to make an edgy pop record in a long time. they also threw out the entire production team that made her first EP and the new producers are horrible. might do a write up for this, dunno.

not looking forward to part 2.

@Johnny: A chore? Honestly when it came to my Shaquille reviews tbh looking back at those aren't considered my best, especially by far. If you're saying I haven't improved in 3 years of writing that definitely comes away as more of an insult than anything constructive. Especially when I've been featured many times before. I'm pretty driven because this is definitely the field I'm working towards.

"A chore?" yes. your reviews are tedious to read. rather than flowing enjoyably and capturing my interest, I have to force myself to continue reading. I've had people message me saying the same thing about your writing, so I don't think I'm alone.

"If you're saying I haven't improved in 3 years of writing that definitely comes away as more of an insult than anything constructive." insults are meant to convey disrespect. telling someone their writing abilities have stagnated doesn't seem inherently disrespectful to me.

"I'm pretty driven because this is definitely the field I'm working towards." then you should strive to improve and seek out help, especially when so many of your readers seem to be criticizing you. your last several reviews have gotten a meagre response. if you want I can proofread your next review. or someone else can. I've relied heavily on other people critiquing my output, as have many writers here. I think there are mistakes here very similar to mistakes people have pointed out on past reviews of yours, ergo I don't think you're doing all you can to improve.

I wouldn't waste my time reading and weighing in if I didn't think you were a promising writer.

So you're choosing to take it as insult rather than take it as a drive to move forward and improve?

If my memory serves me correctly, I actually added Bebe to the database. I thought her debut EP was extremely promising (I gave it a 3.9), so will give this a listen to see how it compares.

As for the review, it's always tricky to write - & read - personal reviews. Readers can't help take them with a grain of salt, but they're ok when used rarely. Definitely use a spell/grammar check though Peter, as things like "an new identity" will get picked up before posting.
