Review Summary: Bassist of Acid Bath comes through with enjoyable EP

In memory of Audie Pitre
Founder of Shrum and bassist of Acid Bath, was taken out in his prime one night when a drunk driver killed him and his entire family, no third Acid Bath album, and only this little-known EP to remember him by, but goddammit, Audie Pitre was a damn good musician, in both Acid Bath and Shrum.
Shrum offers up a different soundscape from Acid Bath, first off being that there are no guitars and two bassists, whether it be the brutal scream throaty vocals across the album, or the beautiful instrumental Michelle Song, some songs being very melodic rather than heavy and some just being plain head bangers right out of the gate. All of the members of Shrum are incredibly talented, it saddens me to now that this all we will ever have from them.
Odd lyrics, heavy but often beautifully melodic bass notes and growl like throaty lyrics make up most of the album's length, which isn't a bad thing by any means, it's exactly what I was asking for, while not being a modern-day classic by any means, or in any way being better than Acid Bath it is fairly nice to know that if you want more in the vein of Acid Bath you can search out this little-known EP.

3.5/5

This was far from bad but this was ridiculously short even considering it was an EP. Definitely want to expand this somewhat to give the listener a better idea of the EP. I like the in memory sentiment though, sounds like you were close to the band.

Thanks. It does need to be longer, you are right about that, but I saw that this album didn't have any reviews at all and saught to rectify that, although my review probably doesn't do the EP justice I didn't want it to be forgotten.
