Review Summary: kitschy but well made metal-core
I Prevail exists only 3 years but already put out one EP and full length album. I came across them while searching for interesting artists.
I Prevail don't differentiate them self from the typical metal core bands as ADTR/All the remains etc. . . .
The first track is "Scars" which was the first single from this album back on July .The song begins with powerful growl from Eric's mouth along with electronic sound and powerful drums playing.
The album continues with the second single from this album Stuck in your head.
The formula is pretty much identical to the opening title and the words are kitschy. Brain's clean vocals aren't something unique. We been hear the same type before so I can't much about his performance other than the fact it fits to the entire song .(The same goes for the rest of the album).
The next song is the album title Lifelines. For me this is one of the weakest songs on the album. I don't think it's not a good song, but it's not stand in the same level as most of the album.
Come and get me is the third single from the album. The song begins with great growl and continue with nice guitar and drums work.
Pull the plug, track # 10 is not different but for me this is the most memorable track on the album. The chores so good that it will probably be on my "Favorites" playlist.
The band decided to includes on this album the song my heart I surrender which taken from the band's EP Heart VS. Mind. Honestly I don't see any reason to include this track, especially when most of this album consists on energetic songs. It's just doesn't fit so well for me and I also think it's one of the weakest songs.
Finally my thoughts on this albums are that this album is pretty much on consists on the same formula, Growls, clean, screaming. Most of the songs are short. Most of them includes electronic touch which is great in my opinion.
The lyrics is a weakness here most of the time, in my opinion but the melody is great and it saves this album. That's the reason for the rating.
