Review Summary: Well, this isn't that bad.....it's still not good by any means though.
Well, Here we are. It all comes down to this. (Sigh) Homesick. A Day To Remember. Now I don't hate this band. I just don't really care for them that much, as much hate as they get, they aren't THAT bad, but still largely forgettable. It's hard to explain what makes A Day To Remember so boring to me, without first making the blanket statement that I have not found a single metalcore band that I like, and A Day To Remember is no exception. So, much like being kicked in the balls, this is gonna hurt, and the pain will be with you for the next 45 minutes or so.
"DAH DAH DAH DAH DAH DAH DAH (LETS GO)" Oh what fresh hell is this? What a terrible way to start a song, but thankfully they kick into high gear and the guitar follows the drums, the bass ranges from servicable to good eratically throughout the album. Now this brings us to the aspects of this album that just annoy me. (Sigh) His screams are so goddamn annoying and their insistant use on putting a stereostypical break down in every song is just a cherry ontop of this pervibial *** sundae.
The only thing I can say will really surprise you with this album Is Jeremy vocals for the type of band they are he's actually pretty decent, their is even an acoustic song on the album, and surprise no break downs! Jeremy's voice actually has a chance to soar in this song and it sevres to be one of the albums highlights. Most of it is just typical metalcore affair, or Metalcore Lite, or Easycore or whatever you want to call it.
The album is just so hard to push through, I mean jesus ***ing christ. How many ***ing breakdowns are in this album? How many times am I gonna get a guitar riff that sounds recycled from the previous song. All over the damn album! How many times is Jeremy gonna prove to me his screams are complete ***? I get it Jeremy you can scream, well you can't, actually, but you choose to force me through the pain of hearing it. Oh, A Day To Remember, a mediocre band that have some pretty strong aspects weighed down by their more, awful tropes.
Jesus Christ just listening to this album, for like the fith time in preperation for this review has given me a headache. All in all, I feel A Day To Remember, as ironic as it is given their name is a band that should be forgotten.
Pros : Jeremy's clean vocals.
Cons : Well, I hate Jeremy's screams, quite a bit, the drumming offers nothing track by track it's the same damn thing. Very little improvement. The guirar has it's moments. But for the most part offers nothing new, they are certainly not Thrice that's for sure. (Bad Joke) The album is just VERY VERY repetitive. But not all that bad. But goddamn so many breakdowns.
Recomended Tracks : "If It Means Alot To You", "Have Faith In Me", "The Downfall of Us All"
