Review Summary: A$AP Ferg knows how to not let songs overstay their welcome most of the time.
Hit or Miss:
Rebirth - Good, sets up the album for something that it isn't. --HIT
Hungry Ham - Chorus is obnoxious, otherwise this is a good song. --HIT
Strive - Most predictable club beat I've ever heard. --MISS
Psycho - More to the likeness of what Rebirth makes you expect: jazzy sampled beat, smooth flow, powerful and personal lyrics. --HIT
Let It Bang - Harder track, doesn't overstay its welcome. --HIT
New Level - Here's the first single off the album which made me think I wouldn't like this project. This helps prove my theory that Future ruins everything he touches. If only he weren't on this track... This will definitely be a "rave" hit though. --MISS
Yammy Gang - Generic rap flow on top of a unique beat. If it were longer, it would have gotten old; it works though. --HIT
Swipe Life - Nah. --MISS
Uzi Gang - I'm starting to wonder if A$AP Ferg can write a chorus if it killed him. --MISS
Beautiful People - A sobering interlude that makes the rest of the album seem out of his nature. Perhaps two sides of A$AP Ferg are colliding on this project. --HIT
Let You Go - And here we go, on to the sober half of this LP. A smooth beat accompanied by lyrics that show an actual personality. --HIT
World Is Mine - Although the rap scene creates a picture of being as big as you can be, this song admits that, even though they might want it all, there's a chance for loss. --HIT
I Love You - A love song. The chorus ruins it. --MISS
Grandma - Ferg reflects on the passing of his grandma and how he wishes that she could have been there to witness his succcess. --HIT
Conclusion: A$AP Ferg knows how to not let songs overstay their welcome most of the time, and many of the songs that pass the three-minute mark were misses for me.
