Review Summary: Waste of time, money, and space.
Before I dive into this, I would like to say I'm writing this review since I have just recently purchased this album. I have been told already to not do reviews on albums that are over a week old, but I had to take action among buying this.
Theory Of A Deadman has started evolving into Nickelback with the release of 'The Truth Is...'. Of course, they weren't destined to get that far in the world of rock since their debut, but that was just a huge *** stain for their career. Now, Savages isn't terrible by any means, but there are enough problems with it to where it shouldn't even be considered good. With songs like World War Me and The One, they took the definition if rock music and just took a piss on it.
This record opens with Drown which leads into Blow. The thing about Blow is that it's one of the very few good songs on the record. It talks about our stupid and insane world throughout which gives it credibility. Savages deserves credit to, but not as much. Featuring Alice Cooper, this song sounds rushed and becomes repetitive very quickly.
From there, total disaster. There's almost nothing good about any of the next few songs up until In Ruins. Not perfect by any means, but it certainly has a heart. Panic Room even has a backbone, and the good thing about this is that there's meat attached to it despite it's poppy and cock rock sounds throughout, good lyric writing for a band that's on their way to being the next Nickelback.
As for the other songs, well, they all are uninspired tracks that leaves us to question why they exsist in the first place. The main problem is 'The One' which has lyrics I've heard kazillions of times before.
Bottom line, a horrid album that has enough decency to prevent it from being awful.
