Review Summary: Technical Brutal Modern Death Metal with enough elements to satisfy any fan of extreme metal.
Punishingly heavy and brutal from the beginning to the end, I Chaos are a Technical Death Metal band and this is their second release and by far their best work.
The cover art which depicts a human fetus being destroyed by some demonic fetus indicates what you can expect from this release, punishing, technical and brutal modern Death Metal, not the awful slam type or the guitar wanky type, pure traditional Death Metal with some technical elements thrown in, throat-ripping guttural roars and screams along with some of the most memorable guitar riffs and to come out of modern DM in a long time combined with blungeoning blast beats throughout make this a MUST HAVE for any fan of DM old or new.
There are very little complaints I can find about this album, it contains something for every fan of DM technical, brutal and fast enough to please fans of the modern sound, yet still being raw and traditional enough to please fans of the early scene.
The production on this is spot on for an album of its kind, clean enough to make out the music being played, yet not to the point of sounding overpolished, still managing to contain an extremely intense heavy and raw sound. The vocalist has one of the most unique growls to come out of modern DM in a long time, imagine Randy Blythe with atleast ten times the aggression and ten times the power, from throat-ripping screams to Slam Styled Gutterals the vocals on here never end up boring or repetitive, something which is very common within modern DM.
Theres not really any cons about this album, a fantastic example of how to play modern DM without becoming excessively technical for the sake of showing of (Spawn Of Possession) or brutal to the point of becoming stupid (Devourment, Condemned)
Dont expect any pig squeals, showy guitar wank or generic slam breakdowns on here, this is pure modern DM with an old school touch.
Recommened for any fan of Death Metal whether it be old or new...
