Review Summary: Hunted and hunted by the evil force supreme, now reduced to the dust and dead.
Being around since 1983, one of Poland’s finest death metal bands Vader jumped to the scene. As a frequent listener of death metal, it would become quite a shock to me if someone who was fascinated with the genre, told me they had no idea who Vader are. Their crushing debut album
The Ultimate Incantation came to us in 1992. Having only 9 studio albums altogether within the span of 31 years may come across a bit of a shock to some. Yet with each album comes a similar style of death/thrash metal carnage. Vader do not differentiate nor change greatly with their style of music, such as other bands like AC/DC or Motorhead that keep their style of play very similar. Still this does not mean that Vader cannot do the same and execute it remarkably.
Tibi Et Igni is a great example of classic Vader, and really, that’s all we really want and expect.
The album kicks off with the authoritative
Go to Hell. Starting off very atmospheric, almost like you've just been lowered into the fiery pits of hell itself. Setting the scene for the album. Soon to kick into fast guitar riffs and great drumming. Ultimately turning into a monster within the first few minutes. The vocals on this album are as unique as they always have been. Peter highlights just how gruff and deep his voice can be with the occasional high pitched shriek like at the start of the monstrous
Where Angels Weep. Throughout, Peter holds strong and passionate with his unique vocals and mighty lyrics which strive the album to be one to remember.
Towards the latter part of the album comes a track that holds more significance to me compared to the rest.
The Eye of The Abyss starts off similar to the intro track. You have the spine chilling orchestral style instrumental playing as you wait for the complete onslaught the rest of the song has to offer. Filled with plenty of riffs to fill you up for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This song portrays all Vader have to offer. Along with this we have
Worms of Eden that doesn't hesitate to give you all that death metal is known for. Heads forth, guns blazing with an immense guitar solo that will blow your mind, make you pick up all the pieces and make you swallow the remains of your brain.
Overall,
Tibi Et Igni is a solid album that packs a punch into even the most vivid listener of death metal. Nothing but amazing guitar work, riffs that will make it hard for you not to head bang along with, drumming that exceeds it’s potential, and who can forget the classic vocals we all know and love. Even though Vader don’t strive to be different in terms of what they play. They still show that they are still relevant to this day and age and not just a band that does the same album with a different title over and over again. Massively enjoyable to listen to and severely brutal at the same time.
Tibi Et Igni is an album that should be considered to be one of their best pieces of work to date.
