Review Summary: Phrat Boyz prove that they are hilarious and just extremely funny with great beats and rhymes. Although this is just a demo and is not as good as the main album, it still does a good job making you laugh hard.

“What the hell is this?” There, I said it for you, because I gurantee those will be the first words you will utter during the first few seconds of listening to The Phrat Boyz. But that phrase can be seen differently. There is the "what the hell is this? This crap is horrible" corner, but also there is the "what the hell is this? Whatever it is, I love it" spectrum. If Phrat Boyz's FRAT ever becomes any kind of success, then it has a chance of becoming a prime representative leader of the love/hate category. This hip-hop EP, which deals with classic themes such as "beat up the freshmen" and "smoke weed, get money", has a lot of teenage swearing and sexuality that is so bad that only people 17-21 understand and that I'm not even sure if I know what they mean, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't chuckle a few times. And by a few, I mean about a gazillion times. Straight from College Park High School in The Woodlands, Texas, here come Chad Smith and Joey Williams with a sneak peak to their later album...

Track One: The Reunion
A very very very strong start for the album. A confusing song title: why is this song titled The Reunion? I understand the song is about Williams and Smith reuniting after a long period of hiatus, but that is the confusing part. What "reunion" is there? They never broke up, its their first EP, and its the first song on the EP. If this was the first song on the next album, then I'd understand. But they keep saying "Man, its good to be back" and "The Phrat Boyz are back, so for the long waits" even though they were never gone in the first place. Eh, whatever, this song is almost as funny as "Cosby" but my main issue is that this song is too...obvious. "Cosby" is obviously a very sarcastic ad ironic song, but it could actually be written off as a serious attempted of being hardcore for those who didn't know better. "The Reunion", however, with its moments of Knight interrupting the song to command his mom to leave the room so he can continue rapping and 30 seconds of the two calling eachother 'idiots' in bad Indian accents, is almost too silly to be taken even as a joke. But I laughed hard. Not to mention, the beat is really catchy. And I'd probably play this at a club somewhere if I had the chance to. 4.5/5

Track Two: Cosby (feat. Scott Tryziak)
What does Bill Cosby, an old black man who is famous for drugging supermodels and being kinda funny have to do with a song involving banging hot prostitutes and snorting cocaine off of the big booties of blonde hookers? I don't know, but that's my only complaint with this song. Simply put: this song is hilarious. Unlike the first track, which was obviously recorded several weeks before this one, "Cosby" is has spot-on calculation and excellent comedic timing. So what if they drop the f-bomb some 40 times in just three minutes, this song is laugh-out-loud funny. I actually had to pause the song because of how hilarious this song truly is. Some of the most perverted lyrics I've ever encountered can be found in this one song, but all of it is used to emphasize on how "phrat" these two boys are, with their foot long penises and whatnot. I want to party. This is also before Scott Tryziak joined the trio but his verse here is ***ing amazing. 5/5

Track Three: Happy Birthday To Mah Nigga Joey Williams
How many rap birthday ballods are there? Well, here's one. This song involves the time the duo first met, which was, apparently, "in the club smoking dope," where they had a great time with a prostitute (although they most likely first met on the playground in 5th grade). For Joey's birthday, Chad decides to buy him the "biggest bootied babe of 'em all" as well as recording this very thought provoking song as a personal tribute. Things we learn: Joey Williams first had anal sex when he was three and Chad likes eating cheeseburgers. 4/5

Track Four: FRAT
The first few lines of this track should be the ultimate decider of whether or not this album is for you. "Looking in the closet, Sparries no socks; three girls suckin on my c*ck, yep yep. I f*cked a slut so trill, I really hope she's on the m*therf*ckin pill." If that didn't make you laugh, then leave. Why they decided to name the album after the worst track on the record is pretty mindboggling. This track gets repetitive very easily and wares out its welcome before even the minute mark passes. The vocal quality is so bad that even Varg Vikernes would be begging for some hi-def sound. The vocalist sounds as if he was too close to the microphone during recording and I have hear every droplet of spit that hits the rim. If it weren't for one or two funny lines, this song would be a huge goose-egg. 1.5/5

Track Five: Drunkleheight
Pretty cool track, but its short and has no lyrics. It starts with some fuzzy noise that might be a guitar and then bam, the song gets really dubsteppy with a heavy fuzz riff in the background. It is nothing special, but its pretty catchy to say the least. The main riff is super cool and it makes your foot tap instantly. There seem to be some whispered lyrics that sound like “LIFE, OR, YOU, FATE!” but who knows. There aren’t any lyrics so I cant say that its funny, but for an instrumental track, its cool. I wish the album ended better though. Still, 4/5.

Overall, comedy rap should be a more common subgenre. The Phrat Boyz have another full length album called #younglife, and that one has all the songs on this album plus like 8 more and that one is an outstanding release, one of the best things both comedically and musically. As this is as a demo, it does good. You'll either love it or hate it and both halves are totally understandable, but I think my rating stands for itself. Now that’s phrat as hell. PHRAT PHRAT sweeerrve PHRAT PHRAT uh!
